Amused to Death

Sorry if that bothers you. We were picked to finish in third place in our division. This season has been a fairy tale. Out of the 53 points Philly has scored in the playoffs, not a single one has been scored by a player who was on last year's roster.Ah, yes .... just happy to be there. It's a win for PHI already.
I won't go as far as saying 'just happy to be here'. We've gotten this far, of course I'd love to finally get a ring. But the Patriots were supposed to be here. There wasn't a single Philly fan expecting this before the season started. Or after Wentz went down. This has been an awesome season regardless of Sunday's outcome. I'm sorry if that takes some of the fun away for you. :(
Yes, a loss at this point would be devastating in the short term. But what a ride after just hoping for a 9-win season. There were a lot of fans, and national talking heads, who weren't even sure if Doug P. was going to survive to year #3. And we needed to see if Wentz was going to be a good QB after fading down the stretch of '16. Then after he went down the narrative was "you can't go anywhere with Foles", "they'll never beat the Falcons", "OK you got lucky with the Falcons, but Minn has the #1 defense will completely expose the Eagles as frauds". So yeah, I've had a great time watching this team exceed all expectations. OTOH, NE's season is a failure if they get beat by a couple of nobodies in Pederson and Foles.Eagles' future is bright win or lose. NE is coming to a cross-roads in the near future.
