***Official Super Bowl LII Thread*** - Eagles vs Patriots (1 Viewer)

I'll have to dig it out but I know for sure that he indicated that the game was a virtual coin flip.  It was actually a very telling post to me because he will usually find any obscure stat that points to the Patriots favor.  I believe his stats actually slightly favored the Eagles.  I'll try to dig it up tomorrow for you.  It's somewhere in this thread.
I think I saw a post of his where he predicted something like 27.8 points for Philly and 27.4 points for NE.

Mike Zimmer got shredded.  I credit the Philly Oline coach.  I don't think the Patriot's D is all that talented.  I wouldn't jump to conclusion based on this game.
The pats d sucked all year. They shored it up a bit in the 2nd half of the season, but it was pretty bad. 29th in yards allowed I think   With the bragging point beihng 5th in points allowed.

Iggles should have a good run in them.  They play in a division with Sacked Prescott, 80-year-old Eli, and the Redskins who are the new Cleveland Browns.

Not to mention that they have a great coach.  They'll be the new Patriots IMO.
All night I was just amazed by the Doug.  That play to end the half when Foles went out to the Right Tackle and was eligible because he was in the shotgun...on 4th down and goal...that was balls deep.  I wanted them to go and then they pulled off one of the most brilliant procedural plays I've ever seen.  Made me want them to win like they were my own team, that was just terrific.

So if Foles was under center originally he's not eligible?  I didnt know that.

Yeah, not eligible.  I saw him go out to the right, direct snap, just brilliant.  Seriously one of the best play calls I've ever seen in 40 years of watching football.

Yeah, but if a QB goes under center he's not supposed to even be able to take his hands out from under center. They never call it, though.

foles td catch was illegal formation
still trying to figure out this claim...NOBODY went to or behind the line from the original formation. Foles was in the backfield the entire time..and was NOT the last man on the line (he was inside the TE)

Not illegal, Foles was set as he tapped the right guard's butthole.  In the shotgun Foles is part of the eligible backfield, Nipsey is incorrect.

The argument is that the wide receiver wasn't on the line of scrimmage so they didn't have six players on the line of scrimmage.

Chip Kelly is rolling around in his grave right now.
Any questions of whether he or Howie was the problem has been clearly answered.

Have to give him props for his run pass option though as rekindling those old plays from the Chip days seem to have really helped Foles take off.

I see that now. Someone else noted that Jefferey had already checked with the ref though, so he couldn't be called for it. Looked pretty close too and certainly had no impact on the success/failure of the play...so anyone whining about it is really doing just that....whining.

I thought the refs did a fantastic job in this game. There were several non-calls I thought could/should have been called, but nothing egregious. Meanwhile I don't think they made a single bad call (thought both TDs called correctly, but neither was ultimately made by the refs on the field either). Every penalty called was legit.

So psyched as an Eagles fan. I've waited over 40 years for this!

Meanwhile this first backup since Brady to be named Superbowl MVP is stupid. Brady was no longer the backup at that point, even if he started the year holding the clipboard.

Congrats!  And very impressed you could type all this on your phone while clinging to the top of a pole. :)

I'm in Hampton Roads Virginia...

although my wife and stepson actually tried to talk me into extending my vacation a few days so we could drive up to Philly for the parade!

It was a good run Pats. Just couldn't find that 3rd partner to complete the holy trifecta of the worst football calls of all time.
I'd like to think they are done but this is hoping the Dolphins or Bills take control of something.  Then there's the Jets, :lmao: lololololololololololol

:lmao:  Made me thing, me too, i haven’t even been in Germany since 1993. What’s ten years, in the grand acheme fo things?
I lived there '93-'96, '99-'03, and '05 to '08.  Partitioning the years is sometimes a hassle.  Think I saw the Fire in 1995 and I saw the last World Bowl too.

Now I'm just bragging...lololol

I was there ‘89-93. I saw the wall come down.

Sheeeeet, i made the wall come down. That was me. I’m not bragging, I’m just saying, that’s how good i was at my job. The Russians basically rolled over and showed me their soft underbelly, and gave up the Warsaw Bloc. Plus, prostitutes. Legal prostitutes.

Cool! Figure you have less competition for climbing a choice pole there.

Can a QB lose 3 Super Bowls and still be called the GOAT?

No. No he cant.
wat?

there are teams that haven’t even been to a Super Bowl (Browns) and teams that have lost every time they’ve been there (Bills) and you’re trying to beat up Brady?

 Ok.

Yeah...that was a silly post. Can't stand the Patriots but Brady is clearly the GOAT. He only lost three because he WENT TO EIGHT!

BUt he didn't win this one :excited:

FLY EAGLES FLY!

Was this just Belicheat outthinking himself or did something else happen? He started all year.
This is gonna be one of those stories we never hear the full details but maybe get an idea a couple years from now what he did to piss Bill off enough to not even consider playing him.

Maybe on Saturday night he refused a second helping of the ceremonial goat's blood that they all drink out of Brady's jock from the '01 Super Bowl.
