You would MAYBE have a point if those SB loses where on the Qb and they played like crap. 1st 2 loses he took the lead at the end of the game, just happened the other team took it back and won. Yesterday the dude threw for 505 and 3TDs - the fumble was a great play on D. This is just nuts (and probably a fishing trip). Can a QB lose 3 Super Bowls and still be called the GOAT?

Why? Great area!Sorry about that.I'm in Hampton Roads Virginia...
although my wife and stepson actually tried to talk me into extending my vacation a few days so we could drive up to Philly for the parade!
If you go back to the first few pages of this thread, I posted my adjusted season scoring and projection for the game. PHI was a half point favorite. I said it was a coin toss and with the TB/BB combination that might give the Pats a 55/45 advantage. In multiple threads I mentioned NE would be lucky or fortunate to win.don't think anarchy ever suggested anything like that.
What's the word out of NE on why Butler was pulled right before the game. Seems like a tactical error to make a switch like that pre-game. Rowe got burned bad in the first half by Alshon Jeffrey. If you go back to the first few pages of this thread, I posted my adjusted season scoring and projection for the game. I did make a case that the NE defense was getting overlooked, which was completely wrong. However, I also felt Brady would have a huge day given how well Ei played against PHI. I got that one right. The real difference in the game was NE’s inability to tackle anyone. There were a ton of plays where they seemed to have someone contained but didn’t. Give credit to the Eagles players for being elusive or barreling thorough tackles, but man the Pats couldn’t bring anyone down.
I also think the Pats got too cute on offense. They were moving the ball all game. Just keep doing what was working and I think they would have ended up with more scoring opportunities.
The word is no one knows much at this point. Didn't Brady just throw for 500 yards 3 TDs and 0 INTs? Now if you want to argue that Brady won several of his Super Bowls on the leg of his kicker and his defense, and not his arm, then I'll buy into that, but Brady was fantastic tonight. Can a QB lose 3 Super Bowls and still be called the GOAT?
No. No he cant.
Yeah, Brady really wasn't the reason why NE didn't win this year. Averaged 377 passing yards in the playoffs with 8 TD, 0 INT, and a 108.6 rating. Oddly enough, he actually averaged 379 passing yards a game last postseason. In 8 Super Bowls, NE won 5 of them, was ahead with a minute to go in two of them, and still had the lead with just over two minutes to go last night.Didn't Brady just throw for 500 yards 3 TDs and 0 INTs? Can a person make a statement like this and still be called sane? No. No he can’t, because it’s asinine to suggest that a QB generally accepted as the greatest of all time would see that staus jeopardized by setting Super Bowl passing records after leading his team to yet another AFC Championship title. Can a QB lose 3 Super Bowls and still be called the GOAT?

Wasn't he sick earlier in the week? The word is no one knows much at this point. One thought someone had was he missed the team flight to MIN earlier in the week and that might be against team rules.
But B.B. and Patricia both said he was not benched for disciplinary reasons. If he had been, they would have known that ahead of time. The whole thing is really odd.
Yes. He was sick and did not take the team flight to MIN (but that was a week ago). In the past, typically if you didn't travel with the team, you didn't play. At least those not named Brady.Wasn't he sick earlier in the week?
The answer is one game. Last night was the first time it has happened in NFL history.I don't know the answer, but I am guessing that there are not a lot of NFL games where a team gave up over 600 yards and still won the game. I am going to guess the answer is not very many.
I was wondering it out loud at the SB party I was at last night...I don't know the answer, but I am guessing that there are not a lot of NFL games where a team gave up over 600 yards and still won the game. I am going to guess the answer is not very many.
All their stats were fantastic and made me smile as we were winning all night long
As bad as the phili def played, ne was worseI was wondering it out loud at the SB party I was at last night...
Has a team ever given up >35pts and still won a SB?
@Thunderlips and @Bossman best part of the thread! All their stats were fantastic and made me smile as we were winning all night long
No doubt about it. I wasn't trying to take anything away from anyone - it was a random thought I had while watching both offenses march up/down the field. As bad as the phili def played, ne was worse
33 was the most points allowed and still won the game. The 2012 Ravens and 1978 Steelers each allowed 31 points and won.I was wondering it out loud at the SB party I was at last night...

Yep. Phillys defense made a play when they needed it. Pats defense made no plays. As bad as the phili def played, ne was worse
Belicheck was outcoached all nightYep. Phillys defense made a play when they needed it. Pats defense made no plays.
If he was outcoached, I don't think it was anything drastic. I don't think he butchered any calls to be honest. The Patriots just didn't execute on a few plays. If Brady catches the ball, he might have walked in for that TD. The defense couldn't make a single stop but I'm not sure how much of that is on Belichick.Belicheck was outcoached all night
Bart Starr. Guy is 5 and 0 and up until this year and Nick Foles run had the career playoff passer rating and he managed that in an era where passing was extraordinarily difficult, so difficult that the next dozen and a half career playoff passing ratings after his all come from the last 20 years. He was a man outside his era. Brady is a reflection of his time and the changed rules. That said, Brady did well last night. Far better than he had done in some of their wins. He showed me something, not with his throws, anybody could have made those (he had guys running free by three and four yards not more than ten yards from him), but with the rapid decision making to get to the throws and with his masterful control of the safeties with his eyes. In defeat he showed me as much as he ever showed in victory. Good for him.8>4

Where were the great def adjustments? MiaIf he was outcoached, I don't think it was anything drastic. I don't think he butchered any calls to be honest. Again, the defense couldn't tackle anyone. Is that on Belichick? What do you mean by offensive adjustments? Did they not just put up 600+ yards on the Eagles defense? Am I missing something here? The Eagles just made one play on defense and the Patriots couldn't. To me, that doesn't mean that he was outcoached.Where were the great def and offensive adjustments? Mia
Let's call things the way things were. Neither defense showed up or made many adjustments. The better team won, but PHI allowed 75 more yards than NE did. The Eagles defense was nothing to write home about. They got a big turnover when they needed it, but the rest of the game they were not all that great.Where were the great def adjustments? Mia
Exactly this. Neither coach really bumbled the game away. That's what I expected to see with 2 great coaches. Just 2 teams who couldn't execute on defense and 2 teams who played lights out on offense.Let's call things the way things were. Neither defense showed up or made many adjustments. I can't stop watching Fletcher Cox on that play. He walks two linemen back into the backfield preventing Brady from escaping forward or to the left. He freed up the other guys and still pinned Brady so the play could be made. He was a man on that play.Yep. Phillys defense made a play when they needed it. Pats defense made no plays.
Both defenses weren't very good last night but the rules so much favor offenses any more that you can still win giving up 600 yards. The yardage and points being pit up by offenses nowadays were unthinkable in the past.No doubt about it. I wasn't trying to take anything away from anyone - it was a random thought I had while watching both offenses march up/down the field.
yep. Honestly watching the game, I thought NE was going to pull it out, I didn't think Nicky Foles could keep up with Brady in a shootout. If Brandon Graham doesn't strip Brady there, I don't think anyone had any doubt that NE was in great position to go down the field and win the game.Let's call things the way things were. Some of nes wrs were so open I couldn't believe they didn't score on some of those catchesyep. I was hoping when the Eagles had the ball that previous possession they could somehow burn the entire clock. Just a little too much time left.
There were minor miscuses on offense by both sides, but in general both offenses obviously played stellar. Both defense played horrible. Eagles secondary had no answer for when receivers would change direction - Brady did great, but there were guys WIDE open. I'm not sure how much of that is scheme, how much is the WR ability. (Is Hogan really that good?) He wasn't fitting the ball into tight windows on many of those throws. Foles had to make some real tight passes (that one first down to Agholar on the Eagles TD drive especially).
While I agree that Brady was hitting guys that were open, I would guess Brady either aligned guys to where he saw the lapses in coverage were going to be or the receivers are smart enough to break off routes to find the open spot.yep.
