***OFFICIAL*** Survivor 31 -Second Chances. (2 Viewers)

Heard a producer from Survivor talking in an interview. Said the challenges usually take anywhere from 2-4 hours and then are edited down to 5-6 minutes. No wonder everyone looks so exhausted. Also said the challenges are actually quite boring when they are difficult and watching live because they take so long and there is no dramatic music playing in the background... and that Jeff adds in the "What are you doing??" or "Gotta pick it up" parts later... not during the actual challenge
I've always wondered about that. There are times he says it at the absolute worst time (for the player), but nobody ever reacts. Makes sense that it's dubbed in afterwards.
Yeah, I always assumed that was the case. If Jeff yelled out "TLEF...falling WAAAAY behind in this challenge" while I was trying to concentrate on a really hard puzzle, I'd probably be like "#### YOU PROBST!!!!!"

There was an episode a few seasons back where one of the contestants told him to shut up. I think he does make some of the comments live and some are dubbed in later.

Edit: Here's an example of Penner talking back to Jeff.

Yes he does make comments live. But some are dubbed in to spice up the edited version. Also said that during every challenge there are 40-50 crew members that you can`t see on camera and a helicopter filming the overhead shots. The crew is then bussed back to a nice resort and consume incredible amounts of beer.

Watching this week while traveling for work I commented to myself that this is one of the better seasons in a long time. My flights home today got all jacked up (#### you Delta) so I downloaded all of season 1. I'm through the first three episodes before boarding my first flight and I forgot just how good it was. Probst stumbles along and the game play an edits r so pure. The way my day is going I may get through all 14 episodes. If anyone has the time I highly recommend a re watch. And huge At the moment I will have 50 minutes to connect in MSP. We will see how that goes. And HUGE  for Colleen.

Highly endorse this as well as watching S2 (Australia) as well. In addition to being just about as exciting as S1 in terms of gameplay and originality, it has spawned numerous enduring Survivor characters such as Colby, Tina, Amber, Jerri, Michael Skupin, and . . . oof . . . Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Also relevant to the current season because of the presence of Jeff Varner and Kimmi.

I'd love to see a behind the scenes of survivor - if they decide at some point that the next season is the last, they should absolutely do this.

They showed a little bit a couple seasons ago. People laying around and camera guys ten feet away from them. Talking by the players and not much else. Pretty boring job for a camera man as I assume they can't talk.

I mean more on the production side - deciding to do tribe swaps, targeting challenges at certain times, discussing where to hide idols, etc.

I'd love to see this too. I'm always curious how they make some of these decisions. Is it just me, or is the editing and camera work on this show some of the best out there? I'd love to be a cameraman on this show getting all of the b-roll footage of the random wildlife.

TAR excels at this as well, and in less controlled, more frenetic environments. The production on both is amazing.

The taunting is merciless, some of if has to be afterwards, otherwise more would be said to him.

Pretty much.

Yeah I would say you might be the only one. I think it is one of the best quality (production wise) celeb tapes but that is mostly due to the fact that the whole thing was staged.

:bag: Was it talked about in the FFA? I have no clue how I missed this, but am enjoying all the same now :)

I think we had a thread years ago about the best celeb porn tapes and Jenna's featured prominently.

Love me some Abi in the reward challenge.

Glad to hear the kid is ok.

Still hate Kass.

Spoiler, Woo looks stunned as to who is voted off.

Back for seconds on Abi getting oiled up... and she didn't talk.

How does Savage put Ciera's name out there instead of Wigglesworth? Seems so incredibly stupid. Maybe he forgot see's on this season, she's basically an invisible contestant.

Lots of high level players this season is making for a great show. Jeremy is playing a great game so far and love that he went for a bite of the embryo on his way back to camp.

Last two weeks have been pretty good with the blindsides..

Woo is always  about what's happening..

LOVED Savage getting knocked down a peg from his "I'm King :bowtie: " statements after the switch.

Kass is a wench, most know this, and thus I think we will be stuck with her till near the end..

a BIG  to next week's preview..

A merge already???
3 days of the switch and then a merge...
Better play would have been 6 days before bringing them all together..

But hey, at least it showed that Chaos Kass is about to shoot herself in the foot again.

So happy they brought the food challenge back!

I've never liked Cierra, but have to give her credit to her play there. It ceases to amaze me how the instant someone gets too cocky (Savage), they screw it all up. He's lucky he didn't get voted off himself.

Man did Fish melt down. I get everyone's exhausted, but holy hell man. Keep it together!

Abi's ###

I think they planned on 6 days, but with Terry leaving it accelerated it.

My exact thoughts.

Joe with his first blunder last night, no need to rock the boat on a hypothetical vote. If you have to go to tribal, plenty of time to change people's minds if you feel strong enough about it. Jeremy showing next level game play by wanting him around at this stage.

Yea i like the way Jeremy is playing. Im also rooting for spencer. He has had it tough but i think he is playing a strong game thus far. strangely i also enjoy kass.

I assume abi will be kept untill the end since she will have no chance of winning right?

Double bummer with both Deitz and Woo gone as I was  for some brutal endurance challenges potentially coming up once individual immunity is up for grabs. I'm sure there will still be some with the weak girls; Kimmi, Kass, Abi & Fish going out in moments and then guys like Jeremy and Joe lasting hours (I suppose the Kellys could go long too). I'm thinking like the stand on a post over water type challenges. I had recalled a few that went 5+ hours, but forgot about Palau and the almost 12 hour challenge.

ETA, quote box isn't working due to font color, here is the link and scroll down to Palau: http://survivor.wikia.com/wiki/Final_Immunity_Challenge

Agree about Joe making a blunder. Don't push for someone if you do not clearly have the numbers or support. It just gets the majority mad that you are going against the majority.

You often see people wanting to vote out their strongest competition, but Jeremy is smart enough to know that he needs a shield like Joe around until much later.

So, from what little I found online, the timeline with Terry's kid is he was feeling short of breath occasionally at the end of the school year. Got treated for bronchitis and it all cleared up. Terry got sent to Cambodia in the last week of May. First week of June his kid had trouble breathing again. Chest X-rays showed an enlarged heart and it had to be removed immediately. That must have been when they pulled him from the game. (Initially, I though he may have been on a waiting list for some time). It was a very sudden condition that Terry had no knowledge of before leaving.

So they took out his heart and put him on an artificial one while he waited on the donor list. He was still on the list in early September, at least three months, until just recently getting the transplant.

Crazy.

Agreed, one of the best seasons in a long while.

Our household all loved Jeremy's hardcore move last night :gang1:

Glad his kid is doing OK. That was a heart-wrenching portion of the show last night.
