That uppercut was nasty and Ortiz might have been totally out of it, but it sure seemed like he quit again. Vintage Ortiz.

Time for the Showtime Card:

Bute vs Badou Jack and DeGale vs Medina. The winners will face later this year to unify the Super MW title.

117-111 was much wider than i would have had it.  but DeGale should have won.  However i wouldnt have been surprised if there was a card that gave it to medina.

he doesnt take fights he could lose
I've always thought Floyd's unwillingness to take big risks was lamentable, but GGG is two weight classes above him. Just because Khan wants to get flattened on  PPV doesn't mean Floyd should either.

Floyd's team are apparently registering "50" trademarks. There are a lot of guys at 47 who need to start fighting each other -- Porter/Thurman's a good start, and Brook/Vargas talks are encouraging -- but maybe May gets things moving even more. I think he takes Garcia. Which, you know, is better than Berto.

Floyd could have fought PacMan 2-3 earlier.  But besides that who did he dodge?

I'm not a Floyd fan but hard to imagine anyone beating him.

I'm actually getting interested in the Khan/Canelo fight.

24/7 almost has me believing Khan has the tiniest chance.

But I just can't see it.

If Canelo let's his hands fly...this could get ugly.

Canelo is real quick and could look good early, but he always tires out. No way he can last with Canelo.

So what's after this for Canelo?

Anyway we'll get GGG/Canelo anytime soon?
Hopefully GGG in by May of 2017. I would assume a tune up in November, maybe a David Lemieux or Billie Joe Saunders. Andy Lee is still out there if you want a true tune-up fight. Daniel Jacobs is out there, but I could see him ending up as the odd man out.

De La Hoya has obviously been putting ggg off as long as possible, they're gonna have to make a deal or canelo could lose his belt.

Of course, he could prob make a lucrative fight with saunders and take his belt. There are a lot of variables.

Arum said it's just a person crunch, where HBO has a lot of boxers and they just can't fit more than 2 fights a year for all of them. So they're going PPV and grabbing what little money's available. They have a couple of up-and-coming Mexican guys on the undercard, Gilberto Ramirez and Oscar Valdez, both of whom won on the Pacquiao undercard.

Watching 24/7 and Khan doesn't look too good. Looks like me and I'm not exactly in shape for a 12 round fight.

Khan will be fine.   Just don't think he has the wheels to keep running for 12 rounds.  Canelo way too strong for a guy with a suspect chin.

Maywheather boxed rings around Canelo so I guess anything is possible.  Won't be buying the fight though.

I'm going to guess that Khan's done enough work on his chin to where he's not going to get knocked silly like he did against Prescott and Garcia. Although, Canelo's obviously going to hit him harder than anyone has so far. But I think he's going to lose a lot of quickness at 155, and Canelo's just going to grind him down and get a late stoppage.

Canelo isn't a one punch KO artist. He's a tree chopper. Khan needs to be more worried about the body than the chin.

Absolutely, but he has that kind of power in his arsenal, with Kirkland being an obvious example.

Canelo doesn't fit the old stereotype of the Mexican fighter who just wades in and takes hits in order to get off. But it's hard to see Khan posing any danger whatsoever in terms of getting a stoppage against Alvarez. I would think that Canelo's going to be more than happy to press Khan everywhere and try to turn this into a brawl.

Just about any quality fighter has the power to KO a guy like Kirkland who doesn't even pretend to defend himself. Khan won't just stand in front of Canelo swinging like a drunk. Canelo might force a brawl, but based on the Canelo I have seen, he bangs the body and waits for Khan to tire. When Khan can't keep up his dance routine any longer, Canelo will pin him to the ropes and overwhelm Khan.

One thing from the 24/7 that I found poignant was Canelo's camp saying Khan was quick, but predictable.  Guys like Roy Jones and Sergio were quick as hell, but unpredictable. If a pitcher has a 98 mph fastball but doesn't have an off-speed pitch or gets stuck in predictable situations, he might as  well have 88 mph fastball because he is getting hit. That's so Khan. He often befuddles fighters early (Maidana, Garcia) but once they got his rhythm, they could tee off on him.
