-- Steelers to Cut Porter Loose? --Mon Feb 26, 2007 --from FFMastermind.com#The Post Gazette reports the Steelers must decide by March 6 whether they will pay LB Joey Porter a $1 million roster bonus, followed by a $4 million salary. There are indications they will not and instead cut him loose.

The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that the Dolphins will release Joey Harrington, and Gs Seth McKinney and Bennie Anderson.

Harrington played fairly well for Miami at first, but later devolved into the passive yet mistake-prone play that characterized his days in Detroit. He should get a job as a backup somewhere. Cleo Lemon and Daunte Culpepper are set to battle for the starting job in Miami, assuming Brady Quinn doesn't fall to them.

The Cowboys are expected to release veteran quarterback Drew Bledsoe, which will free him to sign with another team and save Dallas $5.5 million against the salary cap. Bledsoe is due a $1 million roster bonus March 2, and the Cowboys do not intend to pay that or the $4.5 million in base salary he is scheduled to make in 2007.

To the Raiders, allowing them to draft CJ and Stanton in the 2nd.

:rip: Bledsoe if that happens

Drew Bledsoe's last words: "I regret only that I have but one spleen to give for my team."

Sportscenter mentioned Green and Harrington as possible cap cuts. No real surprise at this point though.

There is reportedly a "good chance" the Jets cut defensive lineman Kimo von Oehlhoffen by this weekend.

Von Oelhoffen, 36, made just 28 tackles in 16 starts last season. He's due a $600,000 roster bonus on Friday and a $1.9 million salary in 2007.

The New York Daily News reports the Jets are expected to release or trade Patrick Ramsey by this weekend.

The Daily News has reversed field on Ramsey's situation, as it reported last week that he had a good shot to stay around. Now the Jets are said to be dangling him in hopes Kellen Clemens can take over as backup.

It's possible the Steelers will release Joey Porter before he is due his $1 million roster bonus March 6, which would create $5 million in salary cap room. If they decide to release him, it could come Friday.

Add Brad Johnson to the official list.

Vikings | B. Johnson released

Wed, 28 Feb 2007 13:34:31 -0800

Updating previous reports, ESPNews reports the Minnesota Vikings have released QB Brad Johnson.

(Rotoworld) The 49ers met Antonio Bryant's agent last week about possibly releasing him.

Impact: Both sides are evaluating whether the parting would be "mutually beneficial." The 49ers would have to take a cap hit to release him and it's hardly a position of strength. Bryant will be suspended for the first two games of next season.

The Browns are considering cutting ties with Reuben Droughns.

He's due a $1.75 million signing bonus in two weeks and is likely to become a role player next season. The Browns are believed to be interested in Adrian Peterson, but they could also add to the position via free agency.

Titans released TE Erron Kinney.

One of the more underrated tight ends in the league for years, Kinney couldn't stay healthy for long. His career may be over after microfracture surgery.

Steelers | Team cuts PorterPublished Thu Mar 1 4:11:00 p.m. ET 2007

(KFFL) ESPNews reports the Pittsburgh Steelers have released LB Joey Porter.

San Diego cleaned up its roster by releasing three veterans -- linebacker Steve Foley, wide receiver Keenan McCardell and tight end Aaron Shea. San Diego also decided not to tender a restricted free agent offer to tight end Ryan Krause. The Chargers also confirmed linebacker Donnie Edwards voided his contract and is now a free agent.

Vikings released CB Fred Smoot.

Minnesota saves $400,000 in cap space with the move and $5 million in cash. The Redskins appear the frontrunners to get Smoot with Dre' Bly gone to Denver. Smoot was at his best in Washington and struggled to adjust to Mike Tomlin's strict Tampa 2. New Orleans also needs corners.

The 49ers released receiver Antonio Bryant on Thursday, less than a week after coach Mike Nolan met with him face-to-face in Indianapolis to discuss his situation.

A source familiar with Bryant's contract said the signing bonus he received from the 49ers last year as a free agent was tied to how many games Bryant was active. His signing bonus was reported in league documents as $4 million, but he will count only $800,000 against this year cap. Therefore, the 49ers will save about $1.5 million in cap room with the decision to part ways with Bryant.
