So is the bloom off the Ogando rose?
Not at all. He will learn a lot from that game. Maddox will have plenty to work on and help him. He needs to do a better job mixing up his pitches. I think he'll be fine. 4-5 on the road is not terrible. Play .500 ball on the road and win the home series and this team will be sitting just fine. The hardest part if the road trip was how we lost 3 of the 5 games... It really seemed like we always found a way to win those last year....I sure hope Strop is ready to be a contributer. We need a good 8th inning guy in a very bad way. Then we can play the matchups in the 7th with the 2 Darrens, Rhodes and Tobin. Let's get 2 of 3 from LAA.

Good news. The wildfires at PK are all gone. The gusts of air from Chris Davis' strikeouts blew them all out.Are we really going to go through this again?
I know there are so-called 4A players, but I can't recall a guy who is essentially Babe Ruth in AAA & Spring Training, but looks a high schooler when he gets to the big leagues. Plenty of guys don't make because you always throw them a breaking ball, but he looks like he has never seen a curve, and then still gets beat with average fastballs on the inside of plate. Amazing.

Did someone tell Beltre that he is playing for another contract? My mancrush grows by the day with this guy. He had me with the glove, now he adds the bat.

Good, not great outing by CJ. 9Ks but 10 baserunners. But will take it. Murphy in CF was interesting, really gives you a chance to get as many bats in the lineup as possible.

I don't know. That was cover your eyes bad at times. It has to be mental? Right? Right? The only valid excuse/reason for this seems to be that he's a little too tall to have such a long swing. He then is forced to commit early and the speed increase from AAA to the bigs is going to catch up to him. Or something.

Wow. This bullpen is sad. We need Tommy to get back and hopefully Webb can get something going. Not sure who goes to the pen, but anything is an upgrade over this.

Is Napoli droppable? I got buck and conger available on the wire?
I think with Teagarden being called up, it should actually help Napoli get more ABs as the OSB doesn't have to worry about Napoli being the only catcher available off the bench.

Feliz on 15-day DL.
Bullpen just went from bad to terrible. Not good.Wish they would have put him on Thursday....
He is retro active to Thursday, but still the Rangers are the longest stretch of the season w/o a day off, so 15 days =15 games no matter what. At least there is a reason that he could find strike zone, although I hope there nothing more to this.

Evan Grant is saying that it's Oliver's job while Feliz is out.Is this guy reliable enough to go out and grab Oliver?
The braodcaters used the phrase "Closer by committee," although Oliver was the guy last night

Yeah, I hope they won't use him in three straight games. I'm already worried about overuse.

Remember when sweeping the Royals at home really meant something??

Yeah, me neither.

Tomko's two innings yesterday gives you a really good picture of how this bullpen is, which means you have no idea at all what you are going to get, one inning from the next.

And I love how CJ strikes out 10 and still feels he didn't have a good game. Maybe it's shtick, maybe not, but this guy seems driven to get better every single time out.

If you can't sweep the Royals at home with half a bullpen and your MVP gone then I don't know what to tell you.I mean the Rangers take/took a lot of crap about not being competitive etc. etc. but the Royals haven't really been in the mix for anything since 1986.

Good news CJ is pitching well. Bad news our bats are on vacation.

I'm not sure why Wash sat Ogando after the 6th the other night. Pitch count was 95 and he was throwing strikes. Should have pitched him in 7th brought Eppley in the 8th and Strop in 9th. With a shaky pen you've got to ride your starters deeper if they are holding up.

WTF Harrison?
Boy I wish I knew....the problem is obious....getting it fixed before it gets to his head or they yank him from the rotation is quite a different thing. He started the year POUNDING the strike zone And LOW in the zoneThe past two starts have been terrible and he has had practically zero contron of anythingSure hope Maddux can help him turn it around

My sports brain is on overload right now. Wasn't expecting a long run by the little mavericks.
Gagree. Mamricks, NFL Draft, Rangers, Bin Laden. Brain is on info overload.

Rangers officially sign OF Leonys Martin today. 5 years, $15.5 million, $5 million signing bonus.

Tell me why I should be excited. Everything I read he is pretty much Julio Borbon without the language skills.

Not convinced that CJ is a "real" ace, but that was a real ace type performance

complete game when the bullpen has been overused and bad

twelve strike outs

stronger in the last 3 or 4 innings than earlier

stopped a three game losing streak

Mansized performance
