***Official Texas Rangers 2011 Thread*** (2 Viewers)

What happened to the deal where if he didn't accept the AAA they could release his contract and pay him nothing? I thought that was an option here? So lost.
My best answer is that because he has been in the league long enough(5 years??), he does not have to accept the AAA assignment. BTW, baseball contracts are guaranteed he would getting paid for doing nothing, AAA, or as long reliever.

10 in a row! We have a chance to create some separation now. LAA has cooled, head to head this week will be huge.

:goodposting: Texas has put Seattle(11.5 back) and Oakland(13 back) clearly into seller's mode and if somehow you could continue this hot play into LAAAAA, you could put them 7 games back and really put some pressure. Of course a sweep by LAAAAA and it's back to only a one game cushion.

It is also probably worth noting that the wildcard is entirely reachable as a fallback right now with Oak/Sea turning to complete #### and the AL East having mostly solid teams.

Interesting talk about the possibility of acquiring Ubaldo Jimenez from the Rockies. Numbers aren't as bad as his record indicates this year. Pitches about 1 less inning and throws about 9 less pitches per start than CJ, everything else is about the same as CJ. My big concern is he is also getting to pitch in the NL and facing pitchers as opposed to DH's.

Was it ghost written by Tom Grieve? I think he goes on the Kinsler is unfairly criticized rant every night now.
I like Kinsler more than the next guy, and I have always said his defense is underrated due to the range and angles he gets on the ball, but to call him an MVP candidate is a bit silly right now.

I never trust NL to AL pitching changes. But when you mix in the probably inflated numbers at Coors, it might be something you look at. Who's spot would he take right now?

He doesn't give up many homeruns, which considering playing at Coors is saying something. He does play in NL west which has equally as bad team batting as the AL west. He would replace Harrison or Holland. Whichever one would be included in the trade...

I read that the Rockies asked the Yankees for Jesus Montero, Ivan Nova and two other top prospects in return for Jimenez. That's crazy. So, loosely translated for the Rangers, that would be something like Jurickson Profar, Holland, Scheppers and Engel Beltre. No thanks.

Replace Scheppers and Pofar with Davis and Ramierez or Perez and I'd do it. I'd give up Profar+ for Felix Hernandez or Kershaw... Or similar Ace, but not Jimenez, Garza or Shields. Jimenez is a stud though. I'd love to have him. He's apparently lost a little velocity this year which is a concern, but I'd still take a chance on him for the next few years even giving up some big time prospects.

I haven't heard or seen the Ubaldo rumor and I doubt it really has any legs - their rotation is good enough now and in the playoffs they would just pitch the best four. The pitcher that they seem to be pursuing is Heath Bell - to set up Feliz and have as insurance

Rangers are tied to just about every trade candidate out there.SP-Jimenez, Garza, ShieldsBullpen- Bell, Adams, Bailey, League

Nothing gives me heartburn and tired head more than trade rumor talks.

There are too many bats to bring one in and let another sit. Not sure why a starting position player+prospect pitcher can't = Top flight bullpen help

Texas has allowed TWO runs in the last 56 innings.

:jawdrop:
Oak(2inn), Oak, Sea, Sea, Sea, Sea, LAAAAAANot exactly the '27 Yankee lineups there. But still impressive.

Almost feels like the first rule of Ranger pitching is that you don't talk about Ranger pitching.

Looking at Jimenez splits 5.55 ERA at home, 2.28 ERA away. Started 11 @ home and 8 on road. Has given up 10 HR's this year, only 1 on the road.I'm also very interested in if the Rays are going to deal Shields. He might come a little cheaper than Jimenez and has been logging some innings too, also playing in the AL east with those numbers is impressive.

The guy I want the most is Adams. He's the perfect 8th inning guy. Wouldn't cost as much as one of those closers. He would also be a great candidate to replace Feliz if he moves to the rotation.

I know it probably doesn't make a lot of sense...and would cost too much, but I couldn't help but daydream on the drive in to work about a lineup with Carlos Beltran:

Kinsler

Andrus

Hamilton

Beltre

Beltran

Cruz

Young

Moreland/Napoli

Torealba/Napoli

That would be sick

What in the #### happened last night? I shut it down before the implosion.
Holland + Hunter= As long as Holland can go .500 down the stretch and CJ, Ogando can win 2/3 starts and Harrison and Lewis can hold it together we will be fine. Last nihgt was a good reminder that we need major bullpen help. Hunter is not the answer. Hoping we land Shields or Jimenez.

Great job Chris Davis last night!
:lmao: Kinda feel bad for him.And I was at Nick Blackburn's start ten days ago. He looked practically unhittable. But these ain't the Royals. :bye:

Good to see Feliz in with a FIFTEEN ####### RUN LEAD!!!!!!
That is bad managing. Feldman should have got final 9 outs. Let's hope that we dint need Feliz Tuesday and Wednesday.
He "needed the work". Feliz hadn't pitched since the 17th, so it's understandable.

0-6, 2 errors. He needs to be traded and traded today. He just can't get past the wall of being on this particular big league club.
Cut CD some slack. He's learning a new position, and a tough position at that. He just needs to be in the lineup everyday and catch his groove. Can't put too much emphasize on one game or one at bat at this point. He's going to be tough to trade at this point. Not enough value will come back in return. We just have to hope he settles in and can be traded in off season.

As currently constructed this team will not win the AL West. Way too many holes. There, I said it.
I'm not that pessimistic. The Angels aren't going away, but the Rangers are good enough to hold them off. Just need some bullpen help.
Day games and LHP is dominating this thing. Teams will start setting up their rotation if this continues. Suddenly, the bullpen is not the glaring hole here.

Uehara for Davis and Hunter. Love the trade! Koji has great stuff. Low era and whip.
Seems like a lot to give up for a 36 year old RP, granted Uehara has been outstanding this season.

:goodposting: Its not that Uehara is bad, but that was a pretty steep price for a 36 year old middle reliever. Chris Davis is not going to hit .350, and possibly not .250. But he has the power to hit 35 homers a year. I think this was a great trade by Baltimore.

IDK. This is the setup guy I wanted. He has a .70 whip and low opposing batting average and era in the AL east. He is 36, but isn't a flame thrower, he relies on his splitter. Tommy Hunter was done here and Chris Davis was just going to fight for playing time when starters are on the dl. I'd much rather give up those 2 than Wieland, Erlin or Perez for Bell. Plus the oriels gave us $2mm since he is close to vesting $4mm option for next year.
