***Official Texas Rangers 2011 Thread*** (1 Viewer)

Derek Holland starting a must win game. Yay!Hopefully the history of ridiculous run support for Holland continues. And who knows... we are overdue to see "Good Holland".
:goodposting: Holland scares me, but everytime I write him off, he pitches a gem.

Underated play of the game. Murphy's at bat prior to Napoli's homer. He's been swinging at terrible pitches all series. I thought that walk was huge.

Who steps up tonight? Last night it was Holland and Napoli of course. CJ has to earn his money tonight and match Carpenter pitch for pitch, but who brings the wood? I commented to my Dad last night, the Rangers had more long outs than I had seen in a while. I could see any number of guys, Beltre, Murphy, Cruz, coming up with the big hit tonight. It would be nice for 2010 WS Moreland to show up tonight as well, and at least make the pitcher battle.

I'll give you a hint: Wilson, Lewis, Holland, and Harrison, as a whole, aren't that good.
Compared to who? Those 4 amassed a 3.65 ERA, 81 quality starts and combined for 58 wins. Texas had 19 shutouts this year as a team 2nd only to Philly. Oh and we have a #5 who was an all star coming out of the bullpen if anyone slips up. Playoffs haven't been excellent to this crew so far, but that shouldn't take diminish how good they were during the season. Lewis may have the only QS of the post season for the Rangers, but Wash has also called on Ogando early with a lead when a quality start was in reach. These 2 teams are very similar and I think Texas has a slight edge on bullpen. If these 4 aren't that good please tell we where the line is that seperates good and bad.

I don't know if I give mitch any more ab. This is beyond tense. Way above the mavs run as by this point it was plainly obvious it was just a matter of time.

I think we have to use Mitch again today. He is a huge defensive upgrade over young or Napoli there. Hope he can maybe get a hit.....

Napoli and Beltre tonight.

Now is not the time, but I can't get this thought out of my head:

In the offseason, you let CJ go, take that money, throw in some of the TV money and back the truck up for Pujols. How good is this lineup?

Kinsler

Young

Pujols

Hamilton

Beltre

Cruz

Napoli

Murphy

Elvis

I can't remember a pitcher who has such a wide range of expected outcomes, from complete domination to not making it out of the early innings. I think I heard that he had as many complete games shutouts this year as Andy Pettitte had in his entire career. That's staggering, but then you get those games where it looks like he couldn't hit the stirkezone if he walked the pitches up.

You are probably right. Out of sight, out of mind. After Saturday, it's all I could think about.

ok, this whole mavs/rangers meme has to stop. never has there ever been a bigger black cat thrown across home plate as what they are doing now.

Looks like Holland will be the game 7 starter on Friday. They may not even leave Dallas until Thursday for weather.

Triple fake Arnold did seem to turn the tide last night.

Out of curiosity, where are you hearing this info?
k ticket sports ticket am sports
Hmmmm. I have tickets to Game 6 and planning my trip in to STL is getting more complicated by the minute.
Best case forecast is 80% chance of tstorms.

lost in all this is the major changes to the ballpark next year. Complete revamp of center field, and the mezzanine area. Some sort of party porch thing as well. Bullpens will both be running parallel to field now.

This is the first I have heard of this. That center field area could use some work. I like the kids area, but it feels like there is wasted space out there.

sort of funny retweet

"EVERY TIME THE MLB OFFICES CALL THE CARDINALS ABOUT A POTENTIAL RAIN DELAY, LARUSSA PICKS UP, AND YELLS "I WANTED MOTTE"."

I can't focus. I've been looking at all the st. louis pitchers splits online and listening to every podcast out there.

If this goes to 7 I'm going to need a sedative chased with a Winehouse size bottle of scotch.

Kinsler - 2bAndrus - SSHamilton - LFYoung - 1bBeltre - 3bCruz - RFNapoli - CGENTRY - CFLewis - P
It doesn't seem right that when this thing is possibly done, that Murphy will be on the bench, and Kittenface will be sprinting in from CF to start the mobpile.

I don't know what to say really.

Three minutes

to the biggest battle of our professional lives

all comes down to today.

Either

we heal

as a team

or we are going to crumble.

Inch by inch

play by play

till we're finished.

We are in hell right now, gentlemen

believe me

and

we can stay here

and get the #### kicked out of us

or

we can fight our way

back into the light.

We can climb out of hell.

One inch, at a time.

Now I can't do it for you.

I'm too old.

I look around and I see these young faces

and I think

I mean

I made every wrong choice a middle age man could make.

I uh....

I pissed away all my money

believe it or not.

I chased off

anyone who has ever loved me.

And lately,

I can't even stand the face I see in the mirror.

You know when you get old in life

things get taken from you.

That's, that's part of life.

But,

you only learn that when you start losing stuff.

You find out that life is just a game of inches.

So is baseball.

Because in either game

life or baseball

the margin for error is so small.

I mean

one inch to the right or to the left

you don't get that strike called.

One half second too slow or too fast

and you don't quite catch it.

The inches we need are everywhere around us.

They are in ever break of the game

every minute, every second.

On this team, we fight for that inch

On this team, we tear ourselves, and everyone around us

to pieces for that inch.

We CLAW with our finger nails for that inch.

Cause we know

when we add up all those inches

that's going to make the ####### difference

between WINNING and LOSING

between LIVING and DYING.

I'll tell you this

in any fight

it is the guy who is willing to die

who is going to win that inch.

And I know

if I am going to have any life anymore

it is because, I am still willing to fight, and die for that inch

because that is what LIVING is.

The six inches in front of your face.

Now I can't make you do it.

You gotta look at the guy next to you.

Look into his eyes.

Now I think you are going to see a guy who will go that inch with you.

You are going to see a guy

who will sacrifice himself for this team

because he knows when it comes down to it,

you are gonna do the same thing for him.

That's a team, gentlemen

and either we heal now, as a team,

or we will die as individuals.

That's baseball guys.

That's all it is.

Now, whattaya gonna do?

At noon I am looking forward.

For now I need to get a few things off my chest.

-If you are playing no doubles it's best to acclimate yourself to where the wall is.

-If the wheel is on and the 3rd baseman is about 10 feet from you why not swing away. Or just make them throw 3 strikes?

-Josh was robbed of being Kirk Gibson 2.0. If this thing drops this game tonight he'll be more tortured than Dirk ever was taking the dump in the Miami series. I can't even imagine.

-Oliver sucks. He sucked for the Rangers for 3 decades now.

-Nefti. Hi, when ahead in the count lets try not grooving pitches up to the other team's hottest hitter. kthksbye

-At what point does someone realize ogando can't enter a game with people on base. That's what Gonzales is for. And don't give me lefty/righty bull#### It worked in the ALCS.

Yep yep. Also, trying to squeeze one more batter out of Holland was a mistake. Adams has been underutilized the entire postseason. Let Holland make Berkman bat righty, and then go to Adams.I was expecting a big HR from Josh all night. When he delivered, we went ape-s. Terrible that's just a footnote now. :sadbanana:
