***Official Texas Rangers 2013 Thread*** (2 Viewers)

It's time to put Emily Jones out to pasture. She doesn't bring that much to the table to put up with her rapidly declining looks and rapidly increasing body fat %.

It had to be said.

Time to bring someone in from the farm system.

I had guy with media connections say that she is preggers again.

Agreed. She is looking really rough lately.

My favorite note from Jamey today:

"At one point yesterday, the Rangers had signed 18 of their 41 draft picks – while the other 29 teams had signed 15 picks combined."

That's a pretty quick turnaround.
the broadcast both showed that she is really with child and that she was joking about having the baby for Ian Kinsler plays baseball. I did not know she was that kind of about to have a kid, does not look like she is going to make to July.

6 of last 7 post are about Emily Jones and the other a note about signed draft picks. I guess that sums up how bad the team is playing right now.... Hopefully Kinsler comes back Sunday as being reported.

Who knew Jeff Baker could play second base?

I'm guessing with that little nugget, and the fact you don't want to send Profar down, that leaves Garcia as the odd man out right now, because you don't need him if you can play Profar at SS and Baker at 2B.

i thought 2B was his original position.

just looked it up, and he has played at 2B more than any other position in his MLB career, though played mostly 3B/RF in the minors.

Huh, did not know that. If he keeps hitting like he is, OSB will find a spot to play him.

Yeah, not much good to say, just wish the fix could be something besides "get healthy". A less than 100 percent Beltre and 3 rookies in the infield last night showed you just how beat up this team is right now. And that doesn't even mention the pitching staff.

I can't think of anything positive right now, other than the fact Seattle and LAAAA really have not been taking advantage of Texas' slide. Looks still to be between them and Oak for the AL West.

The only positive I can think of is that I didn't witness most of this mess. :X

Planning to tune in tonight for the first time since 6/6.

two silver linings...

1. We get to see if Josh was right, and whether this is truly a baseball town now.

2. Maybe if it gets bad enough, we get a new manager.

Profar to start practicing at LF.
I heard yesterday that Profar said he has never played outfield - not even in Little League. And now they are going to try to make him an MLB ready outfielder in one week? Good luck with that. I kind of feel bad for the kid.

If he can play 3B/SS then he can play OF. It's not that hard and his speed can make up for a lot of mistakes. They need his bat as the offense has been awful and Murphy has been useless.

Round Rock put up 12 runs last night, while only giving up 2. Granted it was to OKC (Houston), but maybe some of those hot bats could come up here for a while.

Personally, I think Profar will fair well in LF if needed, I just don't want to see him there everyday. I still want him at 2B/SS most days. Mix in a day occasionally to spell Beltre at third and he should be in the lineup everyday.

Every day? I can't see how. They aren't going to bench Kinsler/Elvis/Beltre more than once a week each (so that is three starts...tops). Only way he can double that is by 3+ starts in LF.

I could handle that. Maybe the occasional DH.

Moreland with a good rehab start at AA Frisco, 3 for 4 with 2 doubles. I was just up that way last night. I should really pay better attention and catch some of these rehab assignments.

what a great win yesterday. so many good things over the last 4 innings, beginning with Robbie Ross in the 6th, coming in with the bases loaded and nobody out, and getting K/popup/K to escape with no more damage.

AJ with the single off a lefty in the 7th. Leonys outracing the pitcher to the bag. Kinsler's clutch hit to take the lead.

And then, of course, the game-ending gun-down at the plate

Nice 4 game win streak where it looks everything has been put back together.
Yeah, basically the opening day lineup is back. That helps.

I just really want to get to a place where every other start isn't a Grimm or Tepesch start. I'm not sure how that is going to take place, however.

Went last night. Sucked. Seemed from where I was balls were hit hard but just right to the wrong spot.

And Murphy's body language says he's given up on life. :nofuneral:

Grimm wasn't awful. It was just one of those odd nights. I haven't looked at this, but I wouldn't be shocked to see the record after an off day be several under .500. Or maybe it's just confirmation bias

You have to think Murphy knows that any bat they trade for is going to be for his spot. Plus everyday as he sees Profar taking flies in the OF, he knows it's to take his place.

Maybe Cruz can get him some vitamins or something.

Really at this point what does he have to lose going to Balco or something along those lines?

If you aren't juicing, you aren't trying.

this year was Murphy's real chance to establish that he was a legitimate everyday option in the OF (for some team if not the rangers)...I wasn't expecting a return to last year's 2nd half, but somewhere around career 162 game average

Manny being Coach Manny??

If Mike Olt comes up to the big leagues and helps the Rangers later this season, Manny Ramirez might deserve a small portion of the credit.

Ramirez, with Triple-A Round Rock attempting a comeback of his own, noticed a flaw in Olt's swing in the past few days. Olt, the Rangers' top hitting prospect in the minors, made an adjustment and had a 2-for-3 night with two of the hardest-hit balls in Sunday night's 4-0 victory over Omaha.

By all accounts, Manny studies, understands and works at hitting. He may be a goof ball, but dude could mash.

So what exactly is Scott Coolbaugh doing then? I wasn't very impressed with him last year with the big club, and this little blurb makes me think he is a very poor hitting coach.

Yeah, that's what I'm wondering about too. I am starting to wonder if Ryan/JD are not so hot at finding top hitting coach talent. Maddux is ####### nails and lose him and I'm afraid the whole instruction stops on that side too.

Elvis is responding at least a little bit to being demoted to back of the order. And I say a little bit with a large *. It seems the only way they get production is monkeying with their minds, not actually coaching them out of a situation imo.
