thx -- that's pretty much exactly what I figured it was, but it seems kind of contrived.I'm not really a nitpicking continuity freak, but I think it lacks internal logic -- I won't go so far as to label it lazy writing, but let's just say it's not very creative writing.I think this whole show has steadily slid downhill since the darabont departure, even though I guess all this recent stuff is taken directly from the source material.they're just not selling it.I think that's the kind of drop in that works fine for a couple panels in a comic, but is pretty weak for a final shot dramatic reveal on tv.

Yeah, It was a little Brad-Pitt-at-the-end-of-Se7en. Not terrible, but I wouldn't write another scene for him that called for it. The kid is irredeemable. I like him brooding and silent and preferably off screen. Pretty good episode overall. I'd rather have that annoying klaxon over Lori any day, glad she's gone.OH C'MON!!!i actually felt ricks pain... great acting

The guy playing him is great but his story is one of the more interesting in my opinion. Everything is wrong in this universe.

T dog and Lori weren't adding much to the series, glad they got wacked. Adding a baby to the show makes no sense though.

Common sense usually is the order of the day with zombie shows.
Homeland has had more wow moments this season than those two shows combined in their run.exactly. I am sure you have your fast exciting moments, and then plenty of moments like on the farm where a whole hell of a lot isn't happening. And expecting any show to keep this pace is just silly, the only show that is comparable with exciting changed like this is Game of Thrones. It's great, but I am guessing we have some slow down next episode, which is good too

Although the show isn't following the comics that closely, based on the characters they are currently in the 25-30 issue of the comics.

i think the heads in the water can be related to a previous argument we had in this thread after last season ended.. we were arguing that an island would be the safest place, but it appears zombies can live underwater

Maybe, but TWD is more believable than Homeland.Homeland has had more wow moments this season than those two shows combined in their run.

I thought this episode was very poor.1) They seem to have a quota now for minimum number of zombies per episode, and it's getting tiresome. The whole let's-have-the-prison-get-overrun-even-though-they-just-cleared-it-out device was extremely lazy.
2) I guess they have to have exactly one black guy in the group. No more, no less.
3) Obviously this could have been a really powerful episode. Instead they pissed it away.

3. It was powerful. Carl blowing his mom away? Rick knowing what his son had to do? Rick showing that he really did care for her? A new life literally ripped out of it's mother? T-Dog saving Carol when he knew he was dead anyway? And through the whole thing we see the Governor manipulating Andrea as Michonne figures out what the real deal is.
You can argue whether or not Rick and Carl's acting was top notch at the end, but calling it a poor episode is just ridiculous.

Given the material they had to work with (Lori's death and the interpersonal conflict with the prisoner's and Rick's group), this could have been really good if the writers hadn't allowed the zombies to get in the way. When every single episode features 20 minutes of "OMG ZOMBIES!!1!" it loses its punch after a while and starts to detract from the other aspects of the show. That's why everything else feels rushed; they had to squeeze Lori's labor and death into literally about 15 minutes.

Obviously I'm in the minority on this one, but this episode was just very badly paced. They need to dramatically scale back the zombies for a while (how many consecutive episodes have we now had featuring all-out zombie battles?) and work more on the interpersonal drama. That's especially true when you're doing epsiodes that kill off main characters and introduce new ones.

The last scene was ####### powerful. As was the birth/death scene. Epic all around.

Amazing episode. Absolutely amazing.
Not surprised T-Dogg bought it. He was always a peripheral character so it made sense that at some point he'd be killed off. I did not see Lori going out this soon, however. That one completely caught me my surprise. A total kick in the emotional stones for Rick, who's clinging to what little humanity he still has left. It'll be very interesting to see where he goes from here.
It feels like every minute at the prison is off-the-charts intense. They've done an amazing job with that location and storyline.
I respect Michonne's sense of friendship but if I was her, I'd tell Andrea to F off and head out of town. But I think she's staying because she knows if she does leave Andrea behind it won't end well for her.
What's impressive to me is that we're only through four episodes (one quarter of the season) and already so much has happened. The producers weren't lying when they said this season would be intense.

They killed off the best eye candy in this series last night in a dramatic way. Carl and his soon-to-be-girlfriend are going to have to raise the baby after everyone else dies. That girl is going to be all over Carl now.
Maybe Carl and the governor are mirror images of each other. One had to turn this way knowing what he previously knew about life and is going nuts. And, the other is living this way out of necessity and going a little loopy.
What tremendous acting last night. Top notch by all even the zombies.

So who let the walkers into the prison? Was it that prisoner Rick had supposedly left for dead a few episodes ago? I thought he died.
Also, Andrea seems like a different character this season. At the end of last season she was turning into kind of a bad###, but now she seems so.....not so bad###.....

I thought it was really well done how Rick and Lori shared a moment and the camera panned to seeing all hell break loose. The whole birth/death was very well done and the kid did a good job in a tough acting spot but I just didn't think the guy playing Rick did a good job at the end.
Doesn't take away from an awesome episode though.

It was the prisoner. We only saw him in a bad situation with all the zombies outside. Andrea is a follower. Dale, then Shane, then Michonne, now the Governor. She was never strong. Remember she wanted to stay in the CDC shutdown to die.All I don't understand is that the prisoner if successful would have been closed into a room on his own in a prison rampant with zombies. I guess pure revenge could have been enough for him but he could have given a little thought to escape afterwards.So who let the walkers into the prison? I think she's emotionally spent after 7-8 months in the woods near death. She also has shown a character trait of being attracted to dark, mysterious guys and she clearly has it bad for Philip and he's working it perfectly. The question is why - what does he see with Andrea that makes him want to keep her around? Easy to see with Michonne. She could be a valuable asset if he could turn her. We also saw some signs that Merle's relationship with the Governor may not be on the firmest of grounds and it's being tested now that the Governor doesn't want him going off in search of Daryl. That's one of the things I like about Merle's character. There's a level of intensity in every scene he's in because you never know what he's thinking or will do (and Michael Rooker's a damn good actor).

I agree but he could always just kill them both and be done with it. I can see why he wouldn't want to get rid of Michonne just yet until he finds out more about her. Andrea's a different story unless there is a shade of humanity (or horniness) driving him here.Oh,

I didn't ##### about that at all in season 2. I thought that season was paced pretty well. The reason why the last couple of episodes in season 2 were so intense is because they built up to them. This season is starting to feel like a video game.

Why doesn't the Governor want to accumulate people? Seventy-three people is just enough to dominate until the next big horde overruns them and makes it all moot. I'd keep adding people and moving the walls outward, collect and organize until I was ready to take the offensive but then I'm not a power-mad psycho, either.

Absolutely outstanding episode. Best of the series so far. Loved the callback to last season with Rick's speech to Carl about growing up. Eager to see the fallout such as what happened to Carol. My guess is she's hiding in a cell somewhere trying to deal with seeing T-Dog sacrifice himself for her. Darryl will have to track her down.
Andrea continues to be a moron but probably inadvertantly saved their lives by not wanting to leave. I agree with those who think the Govenor wouldn't just let them be on their merry way, he'd have his men take them outside the walls and put a bullet in the back of their head. I'm thinking that may yet still happen, but Merle will save them so they can show him the way to look for his brother.
My only nitpick would be how the heck did the other prisoner survive so long? I think one of the characters said to Herschel that they had spent about a week cleaning up the inner yard since we last saw them.
