I was thinking the same when Lorri wanted to sacrifice herself.

This seemed to be a big part of the preview for the next episode. Darryl hops on his SS Harley to get formula.

I skip the previews but they don't have a choice but to find some. It was rather irresponsible not to look for some beforehand since you never know what could happen (Lori dying after giving birth or simply not able to produce milk).

I'm still hoping for zombaby...maybe he/she will die of starvation and gum away at Carl's neck.

I have noticed that some of the effects, like the zombies and the killing of the zombies, don't seem as good as the first couple seasons. I think they are still first rate, but I have noticed, imo anyways, that they don't seem quite up to snuff of the previous seasons.

Maybe budget issues?

Yeah, thats what is was doing for me. Moreso in the beginning, like when Michonne was talking to the governor. But it happened a few times later as well.

Well, at the time she was practicing c-sections Herschel was lying in a bed half dead with a bloddy stump. And they didn't show Lori being shot because they didn't need to... it was more impactful.

Kirkman doesn't play games when people die - if he says they're dead, they're dead.

That is how the wife and I viewed last nights episode, that Lorie is not dead and Carol stopped in and closed up the C-section.I did not read the comics, so not sure how they will take this, but they left so many holes out there it only makes sense for her to still be alive.

It's the sheer number of zombies that is costing the show a lot of money. During the 'boring' episodes they could afford to spend more per zombie because there were fewer of them. If you want more zombies the quality of them is going to suffer.

That's all you think it is? It takes highly skilled make up artists many hours to achieve these effects and CGI is cheap these days.

Yea, latex mask full of Heinz 57, how hard is that? But it's safe to assume they have a lot of zombies ready to use, just thought it would be cheaper to chop a real zombie head in half instead of outsourcing to cgi. Thought the computer stuff was

I thought it was really well done how Rick and Lori shared a moment and the camera panned to seeing all hell break loose. The whole birth/death was very well done and the kid did a good job in a tough acting spot but I just didn't think the guy playing Rick did a good job at the end.

Doesn't take away from an awesome episode though.

all i could think about when Rick did his thing at the end of the episode was if it worse than Jax in Sons of Anarchy when he was yelling for his baby that got taken to Ireland

attn comic dudesis the hedd aquarium in the comics, and is there some purpose to it?I don't really get why he'd put all these heads in there unless it's some kind of sinister thinktank, or something.

I think i would give this a 1.5 out of 5 as far as how big of a deal it is, so feel free to check it because i don't think it will ruin anything for you in the show.

It was in the comics, but didn't really serve much of a purpose beside letting youn know he is f'd up, and that some of his guys know he has the heads in there and that they leave it alone. i think there is a line in the comic about how there is no more TV, so he uses this

Can they get you to care about some other characters (Andrea, Michonne, some other group) quick enough? Or is this becoming a horror-type movie where hope and triumph is not part of the equation?

The show is all about Rick and him keeping Carl (and now his baby) alive. If he can keep other people alive that's great but the show is about Rick and his family.

ThisAlways been about Rick. Anybody else is just icing on the cake.

I wouldn't rule out Daryl as a great sympathetic character. He's already a fan favorite but his upcoming struggle of eventually having to choise between Merle and the Group. My guess is he chooses the group (based off of how the comics went*). As for hope and triumph, I don't see how there can be any unless they get to some non dictatorship utopia, protected from without as well as within. Otherwise hope will have to come from the little things like a good night's sleep, a shower, a little nookie, playing some music... The little things that will make them feel more human than walking dead. *I actually didn't read the comics much past Lori's death and don't even remember Merle coming back in them. Just wanted to freak out the squares.

Iirc they got more money than the previous season but they could be skimping for a gigantic episode. BSG did that in season 3 with a massive battle and you could see the effect it had on the rest of the season.

There's also plenty of post apoc lessons to learn as well. Like don't get separated. Multitask. Futility. Realize all plans go to #### when zombies get involved. Etc. .

Infant mortality as well as adult mortality now as well is why people were married and reproduced in their teens prior to modern medicine improving both dramatically. I think with the options available, the grass on the field rule goes into effect.

I think having the shot occur off screen was for dramatic power. The focus is on Maggie's face as she hears the gun shot, realizing what's been done. You then see Carl essentially zombified walking past her and you clearly know what's been done. As a storytelling device, having the shot occur off camera worked extremely well.

I thought the scene of him walking past Maggie like he was one of the undead was very well done. I'm half hoping he hooks up with the blonde sister just so that he's not a complete emotional wreck going forward. Plus, he'd deserve big props for nailing an older chick.

Kind of a twisted question but would it have been better to shoot Lori in the head (and kill her) and then take the baby out? I mean assuming the c-section is done within a few minutes the baby would still be OK, no?

One guarantees the death of the parent and one doesn't.It became obvious that she wasn't gonna make it when she started to hemorrhage blood, shooting her then also wouldn't have done any good as she was likely in shock, but would have also endangered all of them as there was a pack of zombies within earshot.

Np, 5-6 quarts of blood in the human body, can lose 2 quarts before you have virtual death sentence without medical attention (blood transfusion).The more you know.

All you had to do is watch Maggie carve her up like a jack-o-lantern while on a concrete slab with nothing to stop the flow to figure out that it wasn't going to take long for her to bleed out. No need to measure it.

What about when they lop a leg off with nothing to stop the "flow"?

If it isn't cauterized they will bleed to death if they lose more than 40% of their blood.

I mentioned before that I really didn't like this episode and got ripped for it, but in fairness I thought they pretty well established that Lori's labor was going horribly wrong and that she wasn't going to make it. My problem is that the entire thing was handled with the subtlety and finesse of a cutscene in a video game, not that it was too ambiguous.

Actually Carl has redeemed himself this season in my eyes. Not 100% but I don't wish for his death as much as I did last season.

I really hope they do the scene from the cover of the comic where Carl and I think its Sophia and not maggies sister are holding hands on one side of the fence and on the other its just a horde of zombies.Favorite Panel
