***OFFICIAL 'The Walking Dead' TV Series Thread*** (3 Viewers)

I thought last night was a good episode, except for how Tyrese/Cutty got bit. This whole premise of a walker sneaking up and chomping a chunk out of someone? C'mon.

Think about it. There's no noise at all. No radio or TV playing. No neighbor mowing his lawn. No cars or street traffic or sounds of kids playing in the yard. It's dead silent. You're in an unknown house and you've already seen a walker behind a closed door. NO WAY anyone is sneaking up on you, no matter how mesmerized you are by a couple photographs. Lazy writing.

Who knows where we go from here. Good episode.
Sorry..last's night's episode was horrible.
Put me down in the camp of not liking this opener. It felt clumsily paced, awkward, confusing and not impactful to me.

You have a world in which it is a daily struggle and they casually blow off a trek to Virginia with a throw away " That was a hard trip" line. I was looking forward to an epic Journey and they skipped it.

The emotional impact of Noahs subdivision being wiped out and Tyleast getting wacked was lost on me. I think there were two things working against it. Back to back deaths of Beth then Tyreese had the effect of not feeling to bad for the death of your dog because it died the day after your wife died. The second was the break. I almost forgot about Noah and the Tyreese development almost felt like taking a final exam the day you got back from summer vacation. Also there was NO build up to the Virginia community so I really didn't give a crap about it. Sorry a couple of wall photos don't make me care about the loss of a brand new character.

The zombies chops, fence, Michonne, glenn and marks and such was a lot to pack into one episode.

I'm not saying they had to show every mile of the 500 mile trip to Richmond, but it would have been nice to see some of it. The whole group hadn't ventured too far from Atlanta from the start of this show. I'd imagine that they are all from GA. Seems like it would be a big deal for them to leave "home" and finally go on the road. Did they run into any trouble? Were the roads filled with cars and walkers like they had previously encountered? I don't need 3 episodes to the trip, but give us at lease more than a couple lines about it.

I am surprised that no one has mentioned the sheer number of commercial breaks and commercials in the episode last night. My wife was going crazy over the frequency and length of the breaks vs the actual show. Still think that other than just outright marauding, Rick's group is as badass as just about every other group out there scavanging.

I will admit this episode did show what would happen if they did eventually hunker down and try to make a normal life. Someone will come and try and raid you and it all ends up as a war, Terminus style.

Only takes a second. Over the course of a few years you would never have a lapse for one second?

I also think there's something to be said about being desensitized to the walkers at this point. Someone earlier talked about how slow they move. We've had so many run-ins with bad humans to this point the walkers are often an afterthought. Sometimes they're around and nobody bothers to kill them because they know they'll be way past them soon. I also think it's just natural to let your guard down at times. Won't happen to everyone but it will happen. And this is the consequence.

Do soldiers clear houses by themselves or do they bring someone to watch their back?

And if I had to clear a house by myself I wouldn't stop to look at pictures on the wall until I've secured the room and shut the door behind me.

felt like they added at least an extra commercial break in there, which is seriously ####ed up.

oooof

I forgot the part of them being in Virgina.

Wow that is pretty bad

We spent 45min of watching Tyrese and his hallucinations which in real time would have lasted 4 min but the crew venturing out on a 500 mile trek across 3 states gets a 1 liner

Next week they are in England....

Rick: "We sure could have used Tyrese to help us row"

was half show, half commercials. that might have been like 34 minute episode, once they put it on netflix

They showed a sign at the South Carolina state line. That was cool to see.

They had two scenes devoted to going there. Pretty hard to miss it.

I would avoid an island because everyone would be trying to get to an island. Sounds like a terrible idea to me to go where everyone is trying to go.
advantages:

clear lines of sight for 360 degrees, so you can see trouble coming, isolation, physical barrier to zombies walking up on you, should have access to water, shelter and other required natural resources needed to build, farm, defend. access to lots of pure protein (fish)

disadvantages: highly valued property you'll probably end up having to defend repeatedly, might not have fresh water or shelter or any naturally occurring food crop available, could be washed out in hurricane/storms, lack of protection from the wind/sea. Probably have to to leave island regularly to scrounge supplies.

Are you telling me what you would do several years into a zombie apocalypse on the road with nowhere to stay and barely any food or water this whole time??

####### robot you are

Right there is what I think many of us are seeing in regards to pleasing half the crowd.. A few posts above you it was mentioned how they LOVED they didn't spend weeks covering the journey and just got there.. And then you say you want to see the drawn out journey..

and I am in the crowd that Loved last night episode.. I was drawn in from beginning to end and really liked how it played out

People didnt know they were in virginia??? Oh must have been Noahs OTHER hometown
Of course because Noah has been in ONE full episode so far, it is not outlandish that people would not know the hometown of the lovable gimp dry cleaner.

But then again his character is probably more developed than Tyreese. I do know Noah is a twin, dry cleaner, steals lollipops, can't work a gun, and is capable of stabbing his zombie brother to death with a toy. All I ever really knew about Tyreese was he was a #####.

This episode is a great example of why I avoid spoilers. I don't know if people knew The Governor, Beth, the girls, Bob and Martin were coming back but it was pretty cool seeing them and being taken completely by surprise.

alkatraz

best place for a zombie invasion

zombies couldn't navigate the rocky cliff, prison walls to keep out people. good to go

Two scenes were devoted to it, both involving Rick. It wasn't like this was a minor plot point they didn't touch on. It was made pretty clear where they were going.

Dude, I was responding to the fact that people in THIS thread missed it. There are people in here who don't know who Morgan is for gods sake. ####### casuals.

The walkers only make the moaning hissing noise when they are in large fields or when walking in the street during the day.

 At that point he was completely lost in the pictures, and the past, that I think someone screaming right outside the window would have been missed by him.

The only part I did question is "How did it get out of the room with the closed door" :oldunsure:

But otherwise, it being able to walk right up to him didn't bother me at all.

So at this point who is the better tracker?

Morgan or Daryl?

I'd have to say Daryl at this point. He doesn't need a stinkin map.

there were two zombies, fwiw.

I understand he was lost in the pictures. I just don't buy it for a second.

I thought the sneak peek at next weeks episode was pretty cool.

Rick "Noah what happened?"

Noah " I just ran off crying to my house once everyone left, then I let Tyreese clear it out for me. While I cried, he died."

Rick "That's cool he was a #####, Carol killed his girlfriend and he was ok with it. In all honesty if it wasn't for Sasha we would have ditched him a long time ago. Now you, you seriously just killed your twin zombie brother with a model plane? WELCOME ABOARD!"

I really need to start taking this show more seriously...

Rewatched the beginning and they talked about 'a long trip' and there was a SC sign. Rick asks Chris "How far out?" and Chris says "5 miles". Then he talks to Carol and says "We're halfway there" and she says they've gone 500 miles and are halfway there.

By far the longest trip in the show's history and they encounter absolutely no obstacles along the way.

That's what irked me. When Abraham and co. went out to go to Washington, they barely made it 5 miles before a crazy zombie horde. Yet, the group sets out on a 500 mile trip and we get nothing? Again, not saying they had to devote an entire episode to it, but at least give us something.

I didn't mind last night's episode overall, just thought they skimmed over a pretty big development in the story.

Pretty sure if they drew out the trip over say 3 episodes people would be complaining about it being the same old, same old.. Drive, kill, stop, hunt, kill, drive..

IMO, it felt like it was a good time to "move the story along" faster.. A complete guess here based on what others have said...

I stopped reading the comics at the point of the prison, but based on what others have posted there is a "Safe" city before DC ..

I'm guessing they reach that either right before, or during this seasons Finale, to setup next season so felt they needed to "Fast Forward" a bit.

Noah told Rick he and Beth were going back to his hometown. Rick asked where that was and Noah said Virginia. Rick then told the group (Glenn and Eugene were there; I can't remember who else) they should go there.

Speaking for myself, it was very clear they were going to Virginia. They even had it in the promos with Noah telling Beth that's where he was going if he got out of the hospital.

I thought Hardwick's "I guess everybody does hate Chris" line on Talking Dead was pretty good. :)

Noah told Rick he and Beth were going back to his hometown. Rick asked where that was and Noah said Virginia. Rick then told the group (Glenn and Eugene were there; I can't remember who else) they should go there.

That was in the last episode that aired over two months ago.

I don't watch the promos.

This episode is a great example of why I avoid spoilers. I don't know if people knew The Governor, Beth, the girls, Bob and Martin were coming back but it was pretty cool seeing them and being taken completely by surprise.
I hated the hallucinations with the old characters returning. It just felt like a cheap way to give these people some screen time. I didn't care to see them again in any context.

Rick's conversation with Noah and Rick's conversation with the group was at the beginning of last night's episode.
