***OFFICIAL 'The Walking Dead' TV Series Thread*** (4 Viewers)

after the first episode, I thought Negan would be a good adversary. seemed like he had the charm & intimidation to be a good villain.

now I just think he's kind of a dork. old Rick would have punked this guy.

Finally got around to watching this last night and I'm not sure if I'll make it through the season. I stuck it out last season to see Negan but his mannerisms are so distracting and he's not really intimidating. They did a better job casting than with the Governor and the guys a good actor but just too over the top. I think the best storyline right now is Dwight and Darryl. There aren't too many characters that I care about anymore.

:toilet:

I think I'm done with this show.
You're gonna miss the highly talked about, controversial sex scene in the mid-season finale. Carl and Enid are going to be getting it on and there is supposed, it's been stated, butt shots from both of them while in the motion. The real surprise though is that Negan is watching it happen as he is about to kill both of them. The real real surprise is that Lori orders Negan to kill them. To get back at Carl for whacking her before.

Maggie pregnant but looks skinnier then ever.  Super hot though.

For such a big rating show they sure cheap out.  It's like the storylines are written around they can limit the number of episodes they pay the actors.  See each actor every third show.  It's a joke.  Total money grab.

You can kind of feel the tipping point.  This thread for example.

I will keep watching but I am not sure what the point of that episode was
The last 4 episodes have been what I'd call "builder" episodes..

3 weeks ago was the introduction of The Kingdom.
2 weeks ago Daryl and the Sanctuary.
Last week was the "downfall" of Alexandria.
This week was the lack of leadership at Hilltop and the changes coming. That plus Jesus and Carl about to try and infiltrate Negans compound.

Soon I would expect all the separate story lines to comeback together which will make these last 3 episodes more compelling. Hopefully :oldunsure:

Anyone else find the music to be weird in this episode? When Coral was smashing up that zombie it sounded like angry 70's porn.  At the end when we heard the knife sharpening while music was being played even my kid was like "What the hell is that noise?  Is that part of the music?"

This show is a cash cow.  Talking Dead does well too.

Yet, the scope of this show is so small.  Ratings are starting to show that.  Geez, invest in your show.

If this was Arrow I would understand.  Not the #1 show on TV.

AMC has a history of underfunding its tentpole shows.

WestWorld is 800xs better right now.  A little production value goes a long way.  A tight storyline goes even longer.

The first night we saw Negan I thought he was intimidating and thought this section of the show was going to be great.  Then we find out he does the same spastic delivery in every.single.scene he's in.  I liked the actor cast at first but, man, that guy is twig skinny.  His clownish attitude and delivery just aren't convincing when we've seen what Rick and company have been through in this show.

The hilltop leader is about as unrealistic as humanly possible, just doesnt work for me in that regard.
Agreed.  Like Negan, he is way over the top in the opposite direction.  He doesn't know anyone's name in his own compound?  okay.

That said, I like Jesus and what they're doing with him.

I finally saw last week's show last night before the snooze-fest at Hilltop.  Near the end of the show, what did Michonne see that was smoking?

huh. I had the game on the ipad while watching TWD on the tv with sound down and closed captioning. made TWD a lot more palatable, especially because I clearly missed a lot of what was going on... roller blading?

In this age of instant gratification when it comes to TV shows, aka Binge watching, this season so far is going to tick off a lot of watchers with the episodes broken up between the 4 groups.

If it leads to where most of us believe it is heading ( all 3 groups joining up vs. Negan) then the build up should be worth it.

Roller skating.

How did the packing of that backpack go down?

"The apocalypse is here! Quick grab the ....rollerskates!"
 didn't even put much thought into it.. could have been the family loaded a car with everything they could grab and two kids grabbed their skates. Kids tend to do dumb things( aka I'll walk to Hilltop by myself with no weapons, whatever could go wrong). Of all things to question about in this episode, this wasn't even on my radar.

given the 23 seasons we've already had, the story is leading to every society Rick's group comes into contact with becoming completely and utterly annihilated.

23 seasons!!! no wonder it feels at times like the show has gone on forever ;)

I enjoyed the episode. They're clearly moving all the pieces on the chessboard for the inevitable showdown with Negan. Maggie seems destined to become the leader of Alexandria (her leadership role has been foreshadowed for some time now). I like Sasha and Jesus working together to hatch a plan to find out where Negan is and even though Carl isn't likely to succeed and yeah it's Carl I'm glad someone else from the group is seeking revenge for what Negan did. I'm also very interested to see Jesus and Carl working together and I'm curious to see what's going to happen with Rick and Aaron out in the woods. I'm assuming their trip to find new stuff to give to Negan will end up being interesting.

Reminds me of Season 2 with a lot of people pissing and moaning about the search for Sophia taking too long and then the barn scene being so amazing and seriously epic and proving to be completely worth it.

:oldunsure: on the bold part.. If anything she'd stay in Hilltop as the leader as I just don't see Rick stepping down.

yea, I still have issues with some of the dumb searching that went on in the woods and just how long they dragged that out.. But the pay off was pretty good.. Still doesn't make me want to go back and watch though.

I re-watch Season 2 all the time. Still think it's the best season of the show from start to finish.

So Rick's group is like the Super Bowl winning franchise whose coaches all get recruited by loser teams to turn around their fortunes?
Well, in regards to Hilltop who have a follower pretending to be a leader, and Alexandria where their leader was clueless when it came to the "real world" .. yea..

"Coral, you're still poking me in my thigh. Coral, you're still poking me in my thigh. For God's sake, Coral, adjust a little and aim to your right. Nope, still my thigh. The exact same thigh."

Was watching this last episode just a bit ago alone.  When Maggie was running over the car they showed a flash of Jesus Bruce Lee style jumping across the screen and kicking a walker in the chest.  Doesn't happen often, but I literally laughed out loud when I saw that.

Otherwise this episode was pretty "meh" but probably necessary.

I can guarantee you this though.  They didn't anticipate how bad an actor CORAL was going to be when be became a teenager.

"That is not the hole you should be aiming for."

Hey, what's wrong with angry 70s porn?

I agree and "Nebraska" and" Beside the dying fire" are my two best episodes from S2.  In Nebraska, that's the Rick I want to see again.

I said awhile back I hope we don't spend an entire season or a large part of the season with MoroseRick. That would be a huge waste of a great character. A few episodes is fine and understandable but hopefully soon something snaps him out of his funk and we see BadAssRickGrimes again. Maybe that something will be something that occurs during whatever happens on the trek him and Aaron are going on now. There are only a couple of episodes to go before the mid-season finale so some big things have to be coming up soon and it's safe to say some big things will be happening to and for Rick at that time. Rick vs. Negan Part 2 is likely going to be a big part of the season at some point down the road so it'll be nice to get Rick back again.

After the whole "who did Negan kill?" thing, they are really moving towards a Clue-style "who kills Negan?" thing, aren't they?

Rosita with the gun? Sasha with the knife? Rick with the candlest... holy crap, there really was a candlestick weapon last week, wasn't there? I might actually be on to something.

They wouldn't have even needed the roller skates if Carl hadn't totaled the car to kill one zombie.
How much better would that have been had he chased after her on foot, found the roller skates on his own, and made that appearance with a roller derby check to the zombie instead?

Then he could hold up the extra pair for her and they could go on with their little date.

Good thing they just happened to stumble upon 2 pair of skates that fit them.

Jesus take the wheel of this show!
