***OFFICIAL 'The Walking Dead' TV Series Thread*** (4 Viewers)

I could see the last season, whenever that may be, be about the "cure" with flashbacks about the beginning.

Or, like I mentioned before, the Spinoff starts at the infection but veers off in it's own direction at the point it catches up with episode one.

I don't think how it started is all that relevant. Maybe if this were a movie and you were looking to satisfy the audience at the end, but I don't care one way or the other here. Look at how terrible and forced the "reveal" in Contagion was.
Agreed. While it could make some cool episodes, it would be more like a movie. I think you open up so many more questions and issues. At this point, we have been given the lore and just have to accept how it works. If you can't accept that and need back story on it, you would probably not be satisfied with the answers they give.
I personally don't "need" a back story, it's just a fun aspect of the story to ponder and discuss.
Agreed, discussing it is reasonable, but I don't think there is any way they could explain it in the show and satisfy the people who want to see it on the show. I think it would open more doors than it would close, so I would rather not see it on the show.

"Hey let's burn our shelter down in the middle of the night and caper off into the woods!"

Well the good thing about everyone hating these episodes is this thread will be much easier and smaller to read through.

The episode wasn't great....but I guess what I understand about this show is it is a marathon and not a sprint. You need some background filling to make the characters more real. For the Daryl fans, this was a good show. For the Beth fans, this made her more human and deeper.

Think about Lost (which I liked) there were many episodes just like this, where they developed a backstory and built up the depth of the character.

As we said earlier in the thread, it was known this is what these 8 episodes would be about--full on character development.

I dont know, Daryl may have lost some fans tonight.

When they decided the crew would split, it probably seemed like a good idea to devote a show to a group at a time but just doesn't seem like it's grabbing.

A big proponent of this season seemed like it would be Abraham or the Sanctuary when they finally get there they may have lost a lot of peoples interest.

There is no amount of terribleness that some people won't like. They could just sit on the porch and drink water all day and some people would like it. :X

They went from picking some rusted out car clean to build a safe camp to burning down their house in the middle of the night attracting every walker for 50 miles.

I've been as critical of this show as anyone, but aside from a few moments (Beth being the new Carl and wondering off into near death because she's mad, and the corny ending) I thought this was a really good episode. I'm surprised at the reaction, I thought people would have been all about this one. The conversations between Beth and Daryl were really good.

"You're going to be the last one standing".

Agreed. Getting some Daryl background was a good thing. And angry drunk Daryl. He also apparently hates rich white dudes.

This honestly may have been the worst single episode in television history.

I'm still undecided if it beats out the Diff'rent Strokes episode where Gordon Jump molests Arnold and Dudley.
:lmao:

HFS that is disturbing.

As for the Walking Dead episode, yeah...did not make the DVR cut. If they wanted to develop a story line, I mean, is it too much to simply continue the one with the scientist and that group?

Bring back the excitement of farming. What character development? We already know these characters. What a waste of an episode. Probably the worst one ever.

Pretty much terrible...but almost amazing. Think if they included 1 single drunken nip slip, this episode turns into entertainment gold.

And hey, if Daryl was adamant against taking his shirt off...they coulda thought of something else.

Not my favorite tonight.

It would have made more sense if they hadn't cut the freaky Friday scene where puberty stricken moody Carl had switched bodies with Daryl.

We enjoyed the entire show.. Lots of  moments, zombie killing and getting to know both characters more..

seems you have 3 camps in this thread.

1. Not enough Character development

2. Too much character development, not enough action

and the rest of us who are along for the ride and enjoying a very good series about the and of the world as we know it.
