Agreed, discussing it is reasonable, but I don't think there is any way they could explain it in the show and satisfy the people who want to see it on the show. I think it would open more doors than it would close, so I would rather not see it on the show.I personally don't "need" a back story, it's just a fun aspect of the story to ponder and discuss.Agreed. While it could make some cool episodes, it would be more like a movie. I think you open up so many more questions and issues. At this point, we have been given the lore and just have to accept how it works. If you can't accept that and need back story on it, you would probably not be satisfied with the answers they give.I don't think how it started is all that relevant. Maybe if this were a movie and you were looking to satisfy the audience at the end, but I don't care one way or the other here. Look at how terrible and forced the "reveal" in Contagion was.
Aged to perfection.I still think Beth is 14-15, so when she says she wants a drink, Uh-Oh Darryl
Really?I loved this episode
FYI
If your 45+ episodes in and still devoting a whole show to developing characters you're doing something wrong.

I can't really defend this. I can say that moonshine has made me start things on fire before too.:fartsounds:
"Hey let's burn our shelter down in the middle of the night and caper off into the woods!"
I dont know, Daryl may have lost some fans tonight.Well the good thing about everyone hating these episodes is this thread will be much easier and smaller to read through.
The episode wasn't great....but I guess what I understand about this show is it is a marathon and not a sprint. You need some background filling to make the characters more real. For the Daryl fans, this was a good show. For the Beth fans, this made her more human and deeper.
Think about Lost (which I liked) there were many episodes just like this, where they developed a backstory and built up the depth of the character.
As we said earlier in the thread, it was known this is what these 8 episodes would be about--full on character development.
Daryl #####-in?She definitely wants some Daryl ****.This is a weird dynamic.
They went from picking some rusted out car clean to build a safe camp to burning down their house in the middle of the night attracting every walker for 50 miles.:fartsounds:

Agreed. Getting some Daryl background was a good thing. And angry drunk Daryl. He also apparently hates rich white dudes.I've been as critical of this show as anyone, but aside from a few moments (Beth being the new Carl and wondering off into near death because she's mad, and the corny ending) I thought this was a really good episode. I'm surprised at the reaction, I thought people would have been all about this one. The conversations between Beth and Daryl were really good.
"You're going to be the last one standing".
She's 18. Clear for landing.I still think Beth is 14-15, so when she says she wants a drink, Uh-Oh Darryl
Great development. Even though the world is ####... giving up is not an option.I loved this episode
This honestly may have been the worst single episode in television history.
I'm still undecided if it beats out the Diff'rent Strokes episode where Gordon Jump molests Arnold and Dudley.
The same rules don't apply. She's 18. Clear for landing.I still think Beth is 14-15, so when she says she wants a drink, Uh-Oh Darryl
WorstBring back the excitement of farming. What character development? We already know these characters. What a waste of an episode. Probably the worst one ever.
Worst hyperbole ever. This honestly may have been the worst single episode in television history.
I think one of the Hello, Larry episodes was equally awful.Worst hyperbole ever. This honestly may have been the worst single episode in television history.
BunchesAMC must have loved all the money they saved making this episode.
