lazy episode. viewers will start to disappear if they keep this up
I'll take that bet. This show is a monster.I don't think there was anything about last night's episode that's going to result in significant viewer decline.
not just based on last nights episode but going forward. it was drawn out and boring. maybe 10 minutes of sprinkled zombie killing and seeing hallucinations. the viewer needs better content than some dork running around his town crying getting characters killed. hopefully they go to Washington to redeem themselves from this garbage season premiere.

The writers knew there was going to be some controversy to the change of direction.. But it's either make a change or listen to the other half who like the change complain about it being the same old, same old..

I really enjoyed the episode and piecing together the foreshadowing/ Flash Forwards from the beginning of the episode.

You didn't like the episode and that's fine. All I'm saying is we've had people come in this thread before and predict a ratings decline after an episode they didn't like and obviously that hasn't come to pass. This show's ratings just keep getting larger and larger. At some point they will decline. That's inevitable. But I don't think there was anything about last night's episode that will spark a huge ratings decline now. There have been other episodes some people thought were boring and the ratings continue to soar through the roof.

My guess is the ratings continue to be strong. I wouldn't be surprised if we hear today they set another record. And I won't be surprised if the season finale sets another one too. This show is a ratings giant.

Yeah even if I didn't like the episode (and I did) I would definitely appreciate how they told it in a unique way. I thought it was very inspired.

You might want to switch to a show on SyFy called "Z-Nation". Faster paced, some of the zombies run, they don't get bogged down in good acting and story telling, instead they focus on odd ball single serving zombie scenarios, like a zombie tornado.

Perfect mindless zombie killing fun.

Feel same and echo Floppos sentiments but they ain't losing viewers anytime soon.

Overall just felt like losing TY took forever.

Zombie kills were cool and its obv that those scenes are a point of emphasis for the show.

I did like how they ended Tyrese pulling him out of the car.....chopping his arm scene was well done.

Was starting to think they were gonna save him but the car scene was well done

The little white house in the picture reminded Tyrese of the house in the country where he was trying to hide from the zombie apocalypse and play house with Carol and the kids. That illusion was shattered of course by look at the flowers Lizzie Borden.

I was kinda neutral on the episode. I don't get the people giving it strong love... it was nowhere approaching the best episodes of the series.

On the other side, I don't see a ratings drop off from this either.

Overall, I'm glad Tyrese is dead. Now Noah needs to go and then Morgan can show up.

no more gigantic pacifist bs now on the show, no more dead weight, all that's left is the true killers
Sweet...just in time for the next round of "Bad Guys Who Are Worse Than The Zombies"...that the writers seem to enjoy to no end.

Good episode. Really liked the conversations with Tyrese and the dead characters. Just when you think he is going to toughen up, drop his whimpy persona and be the badass we were hoping for, he sees Bob and the others in the car with him and he gives up. Oh well.

I want to know what's up with the half zombies in the truck. Someone collecting samples for the lab to try and find a cure? Or maybe trophies someone could mount on a wall so they could have folks over to point and laugh as the town's folk hung on the wall and went "maaaaawwaaack.. nyaaaa click click click, waaanyaaack..."?

Roman numerals on their foreheads? Maybe someone was making a clock out of the heads. Like a living chess set.. living/dead clock.
They did show a grandfather clock on the road when they were about to enter Noah's neighborhood. Maybe someone is making a grandfather clock with zombie torsos.....Cool.

The one thing I loved about this episode is they went from Georgia to Virginia in about 2 minutes of air time. In past seasons the writers would have taken about two seasons to travel that far.

They are no where near Atlanta now. I'd say a good amount of time has passed since Beth was killed. At least a month or so. They don't just happen to be in Virginia the day after Beth dies.

Who knows if Morgan was able to follow them. He might have set up camp in the wake of the groups destruction. If the group gets back near Atlanta, Morgan might have a bed and breakfast ready to go.
Morgan doesn't need to follow them. He picked up the map at the church that said they were headed to Washington, so I assume he will run into them somewhere near there.

I think it's interesting to see on this show whether that type of attitude can survive. I get where the writers were going with Tyreese but until this episode I don't think they executed it very well. He was the weak link in the group.

But you basically had Tyreese's approach prove faulty with Bob and Beth directly. Tyreese was able to justify in his own mind what he had done and that enabled him to die peacefully. But for the survivors can that approach work or do you need to be in full-blown attack mode all the time - which is where we've seen Rick for most of this season.

In the season premier, Glenn acted as a moral compass but now he's gone to a dark place. Daryl has adopted that sensibility at times but after seeing Beth killed will he care enough to embrace it? I do think there was something to be said for what Tyreese was trying to do and whether that approach can survive in this world. For him, we saw it couldn't even if he died peacefully. But how will the rest of the group approach things now? That's a big question and given all the stuff we saw last night it seems pretty clear there are some bad people lurking around somewhere and the group will almost certainly encounter them at some point.

I just realized that there was a wolf or dog or some animal in the preview. With the "wolves are near" on the the wall, that is possibly a literal reference to wolves being around. We really haven't had any interaction with animals up to this point.

Morgan will be heading to Washington per the map. Rick has agreed with Michonne to go to Washington. Morgan will meet Rick's group in Washington. Transitive property.

I don't think Virginia is known for its wolf population.

Call me crazy but I wouldnt be heading towards a major US city during the apocalypse. I think I would try my chances in the country or someplace rural. Makes no sense to go to a highly populated area

fortunately DC is a pretty small place. looking forward to their chance encounter there.

I'd find a boat and find a remote island somewhere.

But we gotta be realistic here - if this group found the perfect place there'd be no show.

you're forgetting just how bad these writers can be... they'd find a way.
I think it's a bit silly to rip on the writers for not finding the perfect place for the group to reside. Again, there would be no show if that were the case. So of course wherever they go is going to be problematic. That seems pretty obvious to me.

The Wolves

Things we know about the Wolves so far (an ongoing tally):

They cut zombies in half

They "tag" their territory

They bad (probably)

Because they brought Morgan back so that he will never cross path's with Rick's group? No matter how realistic it is or not, Morgan will meet up with Rick's group. 99% of the watchers are curious about what

this encounter will be like. The writers have to make this happen.

I'm ripping on the writers for creating completely implausible scenarios. if they got them to an island, they'd find ridiculous ways to create problems (zombie pirates, IMO).

Was talking with coworkers Friday about what a great troll it would be if every season from here on out started and ended with a Morgan sighting, but the series ends with him never catching up to Rick. Series finale fade to black is a shot of Morgan looking at a marking on a tree.

I like Gimple's idea of having each Morgan scene get longer and longer until it reaches the point where he is in nearly the entire episode and the group only has a brief moment.

of course they're meeting up.

it would just be nice if it wasn't a chance encounter somewhere in DC and had some kind of logic to it. Morgan was right on their heels there (if we assume he's in the same timeline as them) up until the church- IMO, made more sense for him to find them there. but hopefully the writers surprise me and make this work.

My guess is that Rick's group gets into some kind of trouble with another group, fighting ensues, Morgan hears and tracks down the fighting, and comes to the rescue of Rick and Co.

I thought we went over zombies swimming/getting to an island

they would float and the current would carry them there. no place is safe

Unique? Maybe it was unique for TWD, but it was hardly a unique story telling. I am referring to the snippets in the beginning of the episode coming into play further on.

So when did this "clear" reference start?
I think it is from another show Cheers. In that episode of Cheers named "Clear" You spend the entire episode following Cliff Clavins black step brother Morgan for an hour and all he says repeatedly is he has to clear the town of zombies. After Morgan the black dude clears a house of zombies he writes "Clear" on the house, over and over again. Almost as if he is the "Clear dude" if you will hell bent on ridding the greater Boston area of zombies. After that they all go to Gary's old town tavern for many episodes and Morgan the zombie clearing dude follows them trying to catch up. I am pretty sure it happened in season two of Cheers and was a recurring theme after that. He also banged Shelly Long.
