***OFFICIAL 'The Walking Dead' TV Series Thread*** (1 Viewer)

Wow, that was just plain bad. It's almost like nothing has happened since the show has been back.

ETA: Also, remember how we thought that our boy mullet head was the reason why the Saviors had enough bullets to get out? Well, tonight they confirmed that Eugene hadn't been doing any bullet making. Remember when we thought that's how they got out?

It's pretty funny how Carl died because he was trying to help a stranger rather than because he decided to engage a bunch of zombies (who were happily occupied eating a dead animal) in hand to hand combat.

But at least now they killed off the other doctor so that his "sacrifice" would have more meaning.
3 episodes just to get a doctor to Maggie.

What we had "figured" was that if they could get Eugene out to make bullets, they didn't need to ration the ammo they had. Also, instead of the original plan by someone else of shooting all the Zombies and using a ton of ammo, they came up with the plan to just shoot enough of them to create a barrier so a few could get out, start the vehicles and play Pied Piper so the rest could get out.

Piss poor writing aside, are we getting desensitized to the zombie stuff? the swamp zombies last night would have been pretty cool like 5-6 years ago I'm thinking.  Now its just kinda meh whatever another zombie that won't kill anyone...
I think that if you've been living in that world for that long that you would be desensitized by them.  The ones that are out scavenging and battling are no longer worried about them and have a good understanding of how they move and act.  We still see occasionally how the sheltered people respond to it since they are not familiar with it.  Just like we are desensitized to watching it on TV I'm sure it would be the same if we were in their shoes.

What was with the nightgown?  I took it to mean that they stripped her, raped her and left her to die and that was the only hint they could give the PG audience.
Zero to Dark Side of the Moon kinda guy, eh? Your Google search log must be a hoot ;-)

Still watching...

Boring last night.  But I was holding out hope that Dwight would swing around and bicth slap Tara and and shoot her with her own gun.  So tired of her.
Yep she is awful.  I was definitely pulling for Dwight to put an end to her.

By the way, I thought the Saviors had already figured out Dwight double crossed them -- how did he instantly get back into Negan's good graces?

She's supposed to be the good guy but honestly, I wanted him to end her.  Never liked her character.

Dwight asked about the girl that knew he was the rat and that small group said she was missing. Guess he figured she was gone and decided to take a chance that negan didn't see her either.

:goodposting:   The only one that lived to know he was a double crosser was the woman in the car with him when they got ambushed on the road.

As long as she continues to be "missing" he is safe.

for the first time ever, I fast forwarded through parts of the show.

so, so bad. all the stuff I didn't used to mind is bugging me now, like Maggie's terrible southern accent. Negan is about as believably threatening as a guy making balloon animals. Eugene used to be good for a laugh or 2 each episode, and now he's even a drag.

I think the only hope for the show now is Simon. maybe he and Rick can go on a buddy comedy road trip together once everyone else is dead.

I still like Michonne but she's been really disappointing lately.

Hopefully Gabriel just goes completely blind.   That special effect of gluing a fleshlight to a camera lens was annoying.

I dont get into the discussions about how bad the show is because everyone likes different things

But after the last episode, I said to my wife, I can not believe how bad Walking Dead has been. I might bail.

I know I wont, because it takes no effort to watch it on DVR but man, what a drag

Just need to get to the war.. Once that starts the show should  get better. But right now they are :deadhorse:   everything to drag it out to the final battle.

With Morgan about to jump ship to FTWD, it is pretty apparent both shows will be having a time jump which might be just what they need.

Been a fan since episode one... but this season is making it tough..  Like many others, it's not "must see tv" for me anymore.. It's, "I'll watch it on DVR when I'm bored".

I think it got too caught up in the Rick vs Negan battle.. I'm more curious as to what's happening on a bigger scale..  I have no investment in these characters anymore, I don't care who they kill off next.

That's my thing right now.  I want to see what else is going on in the Walking Dead world.  Lets see some new places.  Lets see some progress.  Expand a little more.

I haven't watched this epsidoe yet, but I think I agree with you.

I had been preferring the smaller scale scope of a couple of people wandering around trying to survive, but the show has reached a point where it needs to grow the scope to nation-building (kind of what negan is already doing, so maybe it's on the way...)

Agree 1,000,000%.  There's not a single character left that would upset me if they were killed off.  Too many characters waffling (Morgan, Carol, Gabriel, even Carl).  Rick has been all over the spectrum.  Tara and Rosita are both super annoying now. Daryl's busy brooding, acting pissed off at everything and trying to sound menacing while toting a crossbow into every gunfight. Maggie trying to play the tough leader just comes across as trying way too hard IMO.  It says a lot when Simon is becoming the character that we're most interested in.  Kudos to Steven Ogg there.

And how much air time are we going to waste watching people get rejected by the Secret Women's Camp with the guns?  At least one more episode I'm guessing, since Aaron decided to stay there and stalk them some more.

It might be too far gone to fix but I am almost thinking they need to do a near complete wipe of the cast, killing off as many as possible, getting a core group of 8 or so characters left alive who leave the area and start up a new thread.

Well it is war.. and with the expected time jump next year and Morgan moving on, you might just get your wish by the end of this season :oldunsure:

So you're saying it should get better for the season finale?  Ok.

lol did Rick really throw down the automatic rifle before chasing negan.

In the return of the Jedi scene I was expected negan to say he was going to turn ricks sister.

Enjoyed last nights episode compared to the last two... I know, the last two set a pretty low bar, but I felt this one setup some good stories going forward.

Simon is in deep Bleep... Negan has found out about the mowing down the GPK's, and is planning the same for Hilltop.
Negan with Jadis?? Where  did she come from, and just where is she taking him??
New Group gives Maggie and the Hilltop "Keys to the Future".. Great plans, but where the heck did they come from??

With all the warnings last week, and the beginning of this week, about "Get any goo on a open wound and you die" the fight scene with Negan and Rick was laughable.
Fight each other, fall through floors, crash through a wood door, that is on fire, and multiple zombies getting smashed. Then fall on the ground and not a scratch to be found that could get infected.

The war is FINALLY building, next week's preview looks good.

Just frustrating how Rick can waste 60+ rounds of an automatic rifle shooting at nothing.  But, at least they finally got the count of Rick's revolver down to the proper 6 shots.  But firing an auto mag into the under pinning of a car is just stupid.

I liked how Simon was fishing with Dwight on how he felt about Negan.  If they only knew of each other's past actions against Negan's orders.

The Jadis scene seemed silly.  Only thing I can figure is she's wanting to trade Negan for Simon so she can get revenge.  Otherwise, reminded me of James Bond parodies like Austin Powers/Dr. Evil where Scott just wanted to kill Powers and Dr. Evil wanted to leave him to die in some elaborate plan in which Powers always escapes.  Jadis... just kill him and be done with it!

Have to think that Maggie would at least find out what community the new woman came from.

Seems like Simon pulled a 180 on Dwight though.  All the talk about how Rick & Co. don't scare, we should just let them be, move along, quit beating our heads against the wall trying to save a group that doesn't want to be saved.  Then when he's the HNIC back at the group it's all "let's rally the troops and go storm the fort and take them out once and for all".  I guess that's the writers way of pulling a trick on us, make us see it from Dwights POV and think they'll give up and leave the main group alone, then boom twist ending, but it ended up coming off as Simon changing his mind at the last minute.

And are we seriously going to introduce more new characters in the middle of the war setup?  Couldn't help but   when the A team van showed up and Mrs. Georgina starts spouting nonsense. When she started talking about "I've got the secret to the future in my head" my first thought was, Oh great, a female Eugene.   That whole exchange had to be more setup for Maggie's character, to display her stellar decision making about who to trust, etc.

I agree. It wasn't perfect but definitely an improvement.

Not a 180.. He mentioned to Negan that they should cut their losses, aka take them out and "move along".. Negan still wanted to go down the "make them fall in line" path, aka resources.

So, much like Simon did with the GPK's, and went against Negan's rules/plans, he wants to continue down that path vs. anyone aligned with Rick and "move along" without them aka.. Kill'em all!! :oldunsure:

As for your second part of your post.. The entire episode was in line with "Something needs to happen after the war".. Introducing a new group to help build the "after", IMO, was a good setup towards that..

agree with everything.   finally got an episode with some action and interesting lines.   of course rick had to mess up once again.   I think maybe next time they should have benny hill music in the background and run it at double speed on screen when negan and rick face off for round 7.

No I get that.  It's just that I think he gave Dwight the impression that "move along" meant "let's just quit, leave them alone, and move along" when what he really meant was "wipe em out and quit wasting our time trying to teach them".  So when he told the group they're going to go wipe them out, Dwight was surprised. Remember that Dwight doesn't know what happened to GPKs, he was in the woods with Tara at that time.  Simon didn't reveal his entire plan to Dwight while they were alone.  So to Dwight, he did a 180 is what I meant.  Poorly worded on my part.  I'm trying to see what the writers want us viewers to think that Dwight is thinking of what Simon said...got confused in the middle somewhere ;)

The episode was a good improvement but like someone else said, the bar was not set high.  I enjoyed the episode overall but I really hated some parts.  There were multiple times where I said out loud, "Oh come on!"  This Rick and Negan crap is so old now.  Their fight seems are incredibly lame.

I liked the addition of the people with the key to the future and Jadis with Negan made me intrigued.  I actually look forward to the next episode.

They missed the part of how, after falling into the basement, they are able to escape out a window.  :loco:

But, yeah, just skip over the car chase and crash part to stay under budget.   :lmao:
I honestly thought I just missed that part cuz I was playing on my phone again while watching this hahaha.   I was like wth I missed him flip the car, oh well whatever.

this made me laugh

18. Serious question: What the hell is that bat made out of? I think it’s a Louisville Slugger, but having seen David Ortiz break one over his thigh, I have no clue how Lucille has bashed many heads in, torn apart zombies, caught a bullet, and is now working like a charm on fire.

i rewound to try and figure out what the heck happened. then i saw again and thought "oh yeah, this is the Walking Dead". and this one i think has nothing to do with the failings on the show, this one i think is all on AMC and them really penny pinching on the budget year after year with their hit show
