Why does nobody bump Gronk at the line?

Giving him a free release is just dumb.
1. Gronk does the bumping, most LBs are not gonna be able to knock him off his route. 2. You risk the chance he blows right by you and then its a 50 yard TD like earlier.

It's not as easy as one would like to believe.
It is that easy. You bump him with somebody who isn't going to cover him, like an end.
Do you see where they line Gronk out at? Put an end out there, it takes him totally out of the play.

We hold.

Need a good drive now boys.

Wake's time is coming to an end soon. Injury prone. Big time.

That's a huge loss. Looks like a blown hamstring. Re-injured it.

Gone......4-6 easy.

He doesn't line up wide all the time....He just lined up at tight at the LOS... Free release and runs right by the S. Same as it always is.

Sure. But point being if your entire defensive alignment hinges on where the TE lines up... and motions to and from, youre gonna have a bad time.

So what? Make NE move him. Letting him run free EVERY time is dumb. Not only is it dumb. It's ineffective.

They do. This is the result.

Lol. For years, the best defensive minds in football can't figure out how to stop Gronk. But an internet fantasy football dude just did.

I did not see anything dirty on the play....have to see a replay. Looked like a pile up roll up kind of thing.

Jurb I didn't want to keep going back and forth but I agree with MB, you are taking the DE out of the play on pass rush situations.
OK, I guess this current plan is working so well.
You asked a question or made a comment. 2 posters offered some valid reasons why coaches don't do exactly as you suggest all the time. It's possible teams should try a few more bumps on the line but I don't think that's the secret to containing Gronk and you still run the risk that he blows by the DE and is running free in the 5-10 yard range where he made a living early on in his career vs now he is more down the field guy.

Why don't DBs bump all WRs at the line every time? They run the risk of guys blowing by them.

We can have different views

Game over. True garbage time FF points can commence.

Prevent defense now.

Landry, Lamar.....even Matthews....have at it.

Get Parker in there to get snaps now. Get that rookie some live game time.

Simms is a #######.

"A step up in talent no doubt..."

Really, Phil. Awesome observation. NE is a step up from Houston

Really? 3-28 and you throw to gray on a dump? Come on Tannehill.....grow a sack chuck it down field.

Pats don't let the foot off tge gas. They never like anyone scoring on them

Armando Salguero reporting on Wake, really bad night. Can handle the loss but losing Wake really sux. Might be it for him in a Phins Jersey.
Achilles......his career is toast at his age and that type of injury on a guy who depends on leverage and planting hard.

SUX!!!!!!
