Texas A&M's Martellus Bennett to enter NFL draft
Cool stuff here. I love his upside and think he should come off the board as the first or second TE. 2nd round grade from me.
What TE from the last couple of drafts does he compare to?
Haven't seen a lot of Bennett, but his background is similar to that of Marcedes Lewis. Both guys are 6'6"-6'7" with a basketball background.

Bennett seems a little more fluid, athletic than I remember Lewis, but Lewis was more accomplished on the football field. A notch below coming out, but with significant upside if Bennett learns how to play football.

He also loves to get in there and block, which is something that Lewis had to work on. He may be a better overall prospect, albeit more raw than Lewis.

Florida tight end Cornelius Ingram has not yet decided if he will skip his senior year and enter the N.F.L. draft, despite reports indicating he would leave.

Brandon Flowers CB Virginia Tech

http://hamptonroads.com/2008/01/tech%2526%...-year-nfl-draft

Brandon Flowers' college football career is over, according to his father Willie. An All-American cornerback for Virginia Tech in his sophomore and junior seasons, Flowers will forego his senior year and declare for the this spring's NFL draft.

"Yep, he's declaring," Willie Flowers said by phone Sunday evening. "He's ready."

Flowers' father was interrupted during the call and could not provide further details. His son was third on the team in tackles this season with 86 and led the Hokies with five interceptions.

In the past two seasons, Flowers has amassed 137 tackles, 15.5 for loss, eight interceptions and 27 passes broken up.

He submitted his paperwork to the NFL advisory committee in December and learned the day after Christmas that he was projected as a second-round pick if he left school early.

"If there's a kid that I feel like, 'You're ready to go,' I'd tell him," Tech defensive coordinator Bud Foster said during last week's Orange Bowl preparations. "That's the way I am with Brandon Flowers."

Even so, Flowers' departure is a big blow for a Hokies defense that loses six other starters from this season to graduation.

They'll now have to replace three of four starting defensive linemen, two of three starting linebackers and two of four defensive backs.

Very interesting. Perhaps this is in response to the outrage he caused when he posted a facebook picture with a TON of money and possible drugs in it? I was certain he would get heat for it and if the investigation continues, he could fall a bit. Link

I'm really shocked Kevin Smith actually is entering this year, what round does he project to?
During UCF's bowl game the commentators said smith was told he'd be a 2nd - 4th round pick. The thing is the NFL isn't beholden to what the panel tells a college athlete and it only takes one GM or coach to think they really need a guy. I remember the year quincy carter came out early he was expected to be a 6th round pick but dallas drafted him in the 2nd.

Speaking of Quincy Carter, I'm surprised he hasn't found his way back onto a NFL roster. especially seeing how the fa qb market is dry. perhaps the team he was with refused to let the nfl get to him, what league was he in again? wasn't it af2?

yeah it's kinda sad because he has talent but I'm guessing no one wanted to take a chance on him with his drug problems, I thinks he's sober now but I maybe it was more serious than I thought

Devine is gonna continue to make him look like he is not really that good.
Devine is a glorified Darren Sproles and is less of an NFL back than Slaton.
Sproles was a hell of a college back. Devine isn't on his level as a NFL RB but might have more talent. He would be lucky to match Sproles' production. That said, Sproles was and Devine will be much better prospects than slaton when it is all said and done.

For some reason, the guy who keeps popping into my head as a comparable player to Slaton is Boise State's Ian Johnson.

Wisconsin cornerback Jack Ikegwuonu, a two-time All-Big 10 defender who is projected by scouts as a high-round selection, will forego his final season of college eligibility to enter the 2008 NFL draft, ESPN.com has learned.

Ikegwuonu, who turned 22 on Monday, has filed the appropriate paperwork with the league office for entry into the lottery.

Making A Go Of The Pros

Who's in and who's not? The Jan. 15 deadline for underclassmen to declare for the 2008 NFL draft is rapidly approaching. Scouts Inc.'s Todd McShay keeps a scorecard. Story

A starter the past two seasons, Ikegwuonu got off to an uneven start in 2007, according to scouts familiar with his performance, but finished strong and re-established himself as one of the top defensive backfield prospects. There are some scouts who feel that he will project better to free safety than cornerback.

Ikegwuonu has good size (6 feet 1, 202 pounds) and has been timed by school officials in the 4.4s for the 40-yard dash. League talent evaluators do not yet have an accurate time on him and two scouts reached Monday evening acknowledged they are curious to see just how fast he runs in pre-draft workouts.

The Madison, Wis., native, scouts said, possesses solid cover instincts. The two scouts noted that Ikegwuonu seemed to raise the level of his game against the conference's top receivers.

How teams project him in the draft could be affected by the belief in some quarters that cornerback will not be a deep position in the 2008 lottery.

Because he has not been officially cleared for the draft, league scouts are precluded from discussing Ikegwuonu with the media.

In 39 appearances, 29 as a starter, Ikegwuonu totaled 91 tackles, 5½ tackles for losses, six interceptions, 35 passes defensed, one forced fumble and one recovery. Ikegwuonu had 16 pass breakups in 2007.

So now there's 24 entered? Just trying to make sure as I'm doing a spread sheet and going to list where people got drafted to see who made a mistake coming out early.

Solid 2nd rounder. That quip about him playing safety is intriguing though. A team may take him higher than normal if he can because there are almost NO decent safeties available in this class.

James Banks ex-vols from Carson-Newman , 2 questions?

What round do people expect to get draft .. if at all.

What rank school is Carson-Newman cause I've never heard of it, is it Div1-AA , 2 or 3?

As a Bills fan I am glad to see a good ammount of CB's and WR's coming out early. I'm sure there will be more, but we already have a decent list going.

Keep an eye on Dingle. I have watched him a lot this season (obviously every college season), but he has quite a burst and while he might be a tad undersized for a traditional DT, he is an intruquing 3-4 DE prospect and situational DT pass rusher.

Could that list be organized by position?
I will do this later today.

Add Jerod Mayo, ILB/OLB Tennessee to the list :lmao:

One of my favorite LB's in the class. I'd say he's a 2nd round prospect as a 4-3 WLB behind Erin Henderson and Dan Connor.

Yes, very nice! Just want it on the first page so I can refresh the list without looking for it within the thread!
