***OFFICIAL*** USC v Texas GameThread (1 Viewer)

I hope this stays here.
This is the most heavily anticipated College Football game in a long time that features a lot of guys who will be first rounders this year - and it's also mid week before the NFL playoffs start. :2cents: this should remain here.

The game has been superhyped that's for sure. I just get the feeling that it will end up like the Nebraska/Florida matchup about 10 years ago when both teams came into the game undefeated and Nebraska absolutely killed Florida. I think USC wins by 10 (34-24). Does anyone else think that the whole ESPN feature on where USC 2005 places as "the greatest College football team of all time" was a bit premature and could come back to bite USC. They haven't even won the national title yet and ESPN is putting them on a pedestal with the all-time great teams already and completely ignoring the fact that Texas may still end up being the national champion.

A good friend of mine and I have been talking about this all week. What a bunch of crap that is to pull something like this BEFORE the actual game. Not only that, but the PSU team of 94 and Mia team of 2000 hand USC their butts. :football:

:goodposting: I was going to start a thread on the possibility that last night's Orange Bowl will be a better, more exciting game than the Rose Bowl, but I (for now) decided against it. Having not seen SC for a couple of weeks, I didn't know about the feature. As usual with most people, "history" began last week. Nobody puts anything in perspective and automatically assumes that whatever is good now is the best ever. It may be; however, can we wait 20 minutes or so before proclaiming USC the best team ever? :loco:

rules are rules

With all the people watching the eventual NFL caliber palyers in this game I think an exception can be made. Especially seeing that there are several leagues with trades hinging on Reggie Bush and his future value. :2cents:

This game features:-- The top 3 in the Heisman in 2006

-- Two Heisman winners

-- The top 3 in the 2006 NFL draft

It IS NFL Talk.
the heisman is an nfl award?

Having watched a lot of USC games this year, I can tell you that they're not as good as they were last year. They generally come out of the gates slow, let teams hang around too long, and give up too many points. That said, Texas has never faced a team with this kind of offensive firepower. Leinart, Bush, Jarrett, and White are probable top 15 picks when they enter the draft. Steve Smith and Domonique Byrd will be 2nd-5th round picks. The offensive line is loaded with future NFL players. Even backups like Patrick Turner (WR) and Fred Davis (TE) have good pro potential. Leinart has been struggling a bit lately, but USC is going to score points. If they get up big early then Texas will probably yield to intimidation and pack it in. However, if USC lets Texas hang around and gain confidence then the Longhorns have a realistic chance of winning. I think USC has better talent and better coaches, so I'm going to predict a 38-24 win for the Trojans.

 Defensive struggle. I'm pumped up for this game. Let's get this thread pinned. It is dynasty fantasy footbal discussion at it's finest. This game is loaded with future NFL talent, even IDPs.

Unlike last year, I'm actually excited to see this game. Let's hope the Big12 doesn't lay an egg this year.

And we know who's opinion to ignore today.Blind homers=

Sadly, I'm watching this game from Houston. I fully expect things to be set on fire, either way.

USC 27

UT 24
They both average 50 points a game and neither of them are going to score at least thirty? UT def is ranked 6th while USC's is ranked 39th.......LETS GO VINCE!!!!!!!!

I don't think it matters where you live.Clearly, I'm vacationing in Texas, yet, I just want to see a good game (and I lived here for junior high/high school years).

Texas 38 USC 35The two best teams in the land bar far. The two narrow victories by USC over Fresno St. and Notre Dame...........and the unimpressive win vs. Oregon, all teams who LOST in this bowl season makes me believe that Texas will win this game.I'm taking the 7 points though! :excited:
