Yeah according to Rappaport, the front office has sided with Gruden instead of Super Bob and he could be benched. I will believe it when I see it but the idea that even Snyder and Allen have given up is something.

Hard to see how anyone could defend rg3 today. Pretty good defensive effort and rg3 was protected all day with a commitment to the run in a ultra conservative offensive approach. Yet, every time rg3 dropped back, u knew a sack was a threat as he held the ball too long again and again. This guy just doesn't understand the qb position.
I can't wait for the draft. At least then I can have the illusion of hope via a 'new' qb of the future. <_<

You're falling for the same trap over and over again. Only an elite QB like Luck or Manning will save this dumpster fire of an organization. We could draft JJ. Watt next year and we'd still be terrible.If they don't think there is a good enough QB prospect to draft with the 3rd or 4th pick they should trade out of the first round this year. Try and get an extra 1st next year. Go BPA every time with the rest of their picks.
Since Snyder is never going to sell the team. Getting an elite QB is all that matters. You get one of those you're in the playoffs every year.
That's not going to happen though. They'll be just good enough to keep missing that QB. Hell I'd extend RG3 and keep playing him. That should guarantee we get the first pick next year.

Terrible job at the end of the game by Gruden, just terrible. Needing to go a long way for a score, he leaves Moses 1 on 1 with Aldon Smith and he pulls Alfred Morris (good pass blocker) and puts in Roy Helu who doesn't even try to help block any more. Moses had no TE help, no RB help, and that was that. Gruden all but guaranteed failure there.
And the press will love him when he says who did what wrong, and none of them will ask him about his coaching.

This team/franchise has so many things wrong with it, it's just sad.
This is the 3rd 1st-round QB we'll have that just totally flames out (Ramsey, Campbell, Griffin) and they'll all do it in similar ways. Shoddy OL play that makes them forget how to play the QB position. This franchise has neglected the OL for so long that it's no surprise we're in this situation. Trent Williams is the only good player we have on the OL and it's not even close. But when a team would rather sign older guys in FA to play along the OL, this is what you get. Look at Dallas who dedicated high draft picks to their OL. They not have one of the best OLs in the entire league. The Skins? Bunch of junk.
I honestly don't know what's wrong with Griffin. He looks almost like he's afraid to throw the ball. What happened to the decisiveness he showed in 2012? It's like he's forgotten how to play QB. Yes, the OL hasn't done him any favors, but he hasn't exactly been helping himself lately either. We play Indy next week and Luck and Griffin can't seem to be further apart in terms of their careers at this point. I just don't understand.

This is what I don't understand. If Gruden is going to make a change, it should be back to Cousins. Going to McCoy basically says the 2 young QBs we drafted just 2 years ago are ####. McCoy offers nothing here long-term. And if Gruden thinks he does, then he won't be here long.

Believe me, I'm not a huge Cousins fan, but he has a better chance of being the future than McCoy. Agreed? The offense was at least moving well under Cousins. I didn't see anything from McCoy that made me think, "Yeah this is the guy the Skins need to start every week."
But you're 100% correct, Gruden being a big QB guy coming in, has done nothing with any of these 3.

As far as RGIII's near future, the Skins have to make a call on his option year pretty soon. Even someone like me who gives him the benefit of the doubt and thinks we should be patient sees that you really can't really give him that 2016 money at this point.

I don't think RG3 is the problem. Drafting a QB early next year would be throwing more wood on the fire. I think the team has just spent too much focus on upgrading the "skill" positions, it has neglected everything else. Did they really need to sign both Jackson and Roberts last year? They have too many WRs, they don't even have enough room on the gameday roster for all of them.

Agreed 100%. No reason to take a QB early. We have so many other needs on this team than a QB. Even if we did take a QB early, it's not going to fix all the problems this team has. We need CB, S, RT, RG way more than a QB. We also could use some depth at the LB positions as well as just about anywhere across the OL and DL.
But yes, we were way too worried about getting Jackson and Roberts that we neglected other spots. It's nice that we have 3 good WRs, but there is nothing else around them.
This draft may be the most important in franchise history. Good teams build through the draft. How many players have we hit on lately in the draft? Morris, Kerrigan, Robinson, Breeland, Williams are about it. We only have 4 starters on offense that were drafted by the team (Griffin, Morris, Williams, Reed). Darrel Young was an UDFA so I guess you can include him if you want. Even still, that's only 5 starters out of 11. On defense, we have 4/5 (Kerrigan, Murphy, Robinson, Breeland, Amerson?) also have Baker who was a UDFA.. So not even half of the starters on this team were drafted here. On the entire team we have 25 players that were drafted by the Skins. The longest tenured draft pick we have here is Kedric Golston from 2006 and he's never been more than just a role player here. Everyone else is basically here from 2009-2014. Awful drafting.

He called in this morning to say that Garcon and Roberts were on the flight from SF to Vegas with him. They aren't due back to practice in Ashburn until Wednesday, so got permission to go to Vegas.
Somehow, I don't see Belichik or Jon Gruden letting two starting receivers go off to party after the past two debaculous weeks, but I guess Jay Gruden rolls differently.

Once again, I look at all this from a different perspective. Griffin was terrible last week. And he was pretty bad yesterday. But I think this is all a big statement on what a poor job Jay Gruden is doing.
Griffin has a unique skill set for the QB position. He also has many short comings that were present the day the Redskins drafted him. So the goal of the HC or OC is to design an offense that takes advantage of his strengths and minimizes his weaknesses while he develops. That is exactly what Shanahan and Shanahan did in 2012 with great success.
In 2014, Gruden can't come up with an offense that takes advantage of Griffin's skills. He wants a pass happy offense with lots of pocket passing. And Griffin has struggled with it mightily. Yesterday was the most run oriented game plan where it looked like they did not trust Griffin to throw the ball. It actually had the look of Gruden was being forced to play Griffin and Gruden designed such a limited offense that it makes Griffin look bad.
So my conclusion: Kyle Shanahan is a much better OC than Jay Gruden. And it is not even close.

Was running the RO, throwing deep, throwing on the run, etc. Then he got hurt and it was almost like Gruden stopped trying to create an offense around him.
In 2013, RG3 was pretty accurate of the Shotgun. Not sure where he is in terms of accuracy from there this season, but I don't recall a bunch of players of the the Shotgun, especially yesterday. Why not run Shotgun and give RG3 1) more time before pressure gets to him and 2) a chance to see the field before the snap. Peyton Manning runs Shotgun more than just about any QB in the league. So it's not like it's a bad thing to utilize it. It's just that Jay seems to have no interest in suiting his offense to Griffin.

It looks like Gruden is trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. I don't see him changing the game plan and/or style of play to fit what he has at QB. And the horrendous O-line play doesn't help any of his QBs but some quick passes and more rushing would help mask it some.
I think what ends up happening is we keep Gruden, let RG3 and Cousins go and roll with some Rookie/Colt next year. I think with the addition of our QBs we should let Gruden go. I didn't really like the hire from the start but I had high hopes after it was made. A new coach with a new QB would be a fresh start, but the GM has also fallen flat on many of his recent moves. Allen is probably going nowhere but there's several other options for GMs who haven't gotten a shot yet and could hardly do worse than the current regime. Omar Khan is one idea (Current cap specialist for Pittsburgh who's looking to become a GM).

We don't need to take a QB early in the upcoming draft. There's way too many holes on this team that a QB isn't going to fix right away. The OL needs to be addressed big time. We only have 4 OL on this team that we've drafted. And 2 of them came in the 2014 draft.
I'd rather build up everything around the QB first before we draft another one. Otherwise, we'll be right back to where we are now. It's not like this draft has any can't miss QB prospects. Maybe Mariotta but that's it.

Don't agree, no. Now that weeks have passed we're tending to forget how horrible Cousins was. He was losing games single-handedly, and was getting progressively worse each week. He played like David Carr played in his later career -- shellshocked and scared. I just don't see any grounds for hope with Cousins.

I don't think we should spend that first pick on a QB, but I could totally see that happening with our GM and Coach. I'd be much happier going O-Line and Secondary for the first four rounds, then DEF and QB to finish off the rest of the draft.

I agree with much of what you've said, and especially the bolded. Look how Cousins regressed this year. Look how Griffin regressed this year. The Skins get terrible play from all 3 units at various times during the year, and the only thing besides small quibbles that we hear from Gruden is "Robert Robert Robert". I really do not think Gruden has a picture yet of how to run a team.
Maybe he'll get that picture in the next 5 games. There were parts of it there yesterday. There were 2 good offensive drives the last 2 weeks that featured different playcalling than the rest of the game, "non-Gruden" type playcalling. But he keeps bailing on it and going back to straight dropback passing as though the team does it well. Hint -- it doesn't. Not under Cousins and not under Griffin. If Gruden can't coach a QB well enough to play and if he can't call plays that best suit what the offensive players do, he hasn't earned HC responsibilities in my opinion.
And his dealing with the press has been atrocious. On the other hand........

I think Haslett has been plenty bad, many times over the last 5 years. He was horrible in the Tampa Bay game. But in the Dallas and SF games the defense was top-notch, and the defensive players and Haslett deserve credit for that.
