*** OFFICIAL *** Winnipeg Jets Thread (1 Viewer)

Was gonna say just be thankful that he didn't knock Pavelec unconscious. But given what happened to Pavelec last season, that's probably in poor taste.

Jets are almost looking like an actual NHL franchise in this game, and not like the minor-league shinny team they've looked like in the first three.

Congrats, GB. The NHL is all the better with Winnipeg back.
I was thinking about that at the end of the game, as the players were doing their standard "salute the fans at center ice" thing. These guys must love playing in front of a sold out house every night instead of whatever the hell was going on in Atlanta. That's just awesome. And it needs to continue. Whoever's blocking a 2nd franchise from being placed in the Toronto (and maybe even Montreal) markets needs to be swiftly kicked in the ### and moved out of the way. Put the teams where they'll be appreciated.

I'm having people over tonight and therefore cannot provide commentary as the Jets dismantle the only major sports team named after a plant. Please feel free to comment without me and I will be pleased to read it and provide thoughts later. Go Jets go!

Only had the game on in the background, so didn't get a lot of the details. I've heard that the 3rd period collapse was more a function of the Jets taking their foot off of the gas rather than the Laughs actually earning it. Oh well, it's still a point. They didn't look scary in the shootout at all.

Ottawa tonight. Should be a barn burner in the race for the #1 overall pick.

That love will quickly change once it hits -30c and they realize they have to live in Winnipeg.

sure some will hate it but you get used to it. most hockey players come from a cold climate.

Tonight's game was the first game that I didn't watch a single minute of. Sadly, I had a prior engagement. Heard it was good, though.

I've lived in Manitoba for 25~ years and have not gotten used to it.

playoff intensity in this game early on. went over 7 minutes without a stop in play.

Favorites. Deepest team down the middle. Don’t beat themselves.  The cup is headed to the worst city in the league. God bless them.

Jesus H., I have no memory of starting this thread.

Went to Jay and Silent Bob Get Old tonight (the same night as Game 7 vs the Preds) and the damn show was tainted because he kept having to update the crowd about the game. Fortunately, there has not been the rash of annoying honking and rabble-rousing that had initially concerned me. Yet. At least not in my neighborhood.

I expect this next round will get noisier. But after watching the very cool video of the way VGK opened the second round, I'm sorely tempted to jump on *that* bandwagon if I can be brought to the point of caring at all.

I had forgotten the @Smoo was a diehard ‘Peg fan from Day 1. Congrats!

And some legendary old-school appearances on the first couple of pages.

Like @Premier ... what the hell ever happened to that guy?  :P

"Fan" is the wrong word. "Resident who used to be slightly less apathetic than he is now" is a better descriptor. I'm forced to follow it now because this city really is going pretty mental.

Challenge accepted. I will attempt to watch the game tonight. I usually find sports too tedious and boring to focus on for 3 hours, but I guess that's what dual-monitor setups were made for.
