OFFICIAL WIS XVIII THREAD: An Ode to Claude Hendrix (1 Viewer)

Just put in Mel ott also and nothing
His name is too short for board search. He shows up if you search the Google Doc.
i can't. I'm in Nola on phone and iPad comboIs Lew Fonseca available? 1920s
Yep, available.Hit up McClure's yet?
tomorrow for lunch. Can't waitI'll take Fonseca.
Had Fonseca once. He was fine in his role.

And we're going to need a full-length review of Tipsy's joint tomorrow.

when searching for players there is a team/league/division drop down menu. top right of the screen. select federal league. make sure you also select full/combined from season type menu as well.

Ok, who has experience setting up a league? There's really not reason we should have wasted the last two days and not allowed some preseason simlive... would be fun to play during the games today.

If someone sets it up, beers on me when they come to NY. :hifive:

I would imagine not that difficult, just have to deal with things as commish when they come up, tickets etc. I'd do it but am on a plane to FLA tomorrow and then in meetings out of state and possibly with only a phone all week next week and then 3 days the following week. I'd be happy to, but no way I can be at all attentive as commish.

There's a reason I don't want 8 partially finished teams with "dummy players" in a league that's going to start on Tuesday. If you nerds really want to SimLive, the best idea is to promote the idea of all 24 guys getting a full, correct 25-man roster entered into the system tomorrow night.

Commissioneering 101: Don't let the nerds overrun a plan to get the league started.

Dude, seriously? Every single season we have had a few days of SImLive, for some of us, it's one of the best reasons to do one of these drafts. If you want to make a rule of no testing players, make it, but to deny us a full weekend of some silly fun that's been the precedent for 20 of these seems wrong, estpecially when you have a number of teams that are wanting to play.

Please reconsider so we can enjoy some simlive today. I have at least tried to be respectful and let you start it, but at this point, whomever starts it would be a good thing.

PS - tomorrow night Im on a work trip, won't be on at all for much of the next two weeks and will try to just get some of my league simlive games in. To not have an extended very fun preseason seems to take away a good reason I even do these.

If a league is started today, who would simlive? I can start it and just give my password to someone if commish won't set it up. Just don't see the harm and if people are sensitive about "testing" players, no reason we can't have a no testing rule. Heck, we need 2-3 players left only.

Let the children play.

I couldn't care less about "testing" players. Your sample size is going to be meaningless in ~36 hours.

If you start it up, you better be prepared to comb through 600 players on Monday night/ Tuesday morning to ensure that they are not only on the right teams and meet the decade requirements, but also that there haven't been some dummy players left on the roster of an "early simmer" that hasn't altered their team yet.

Sounds to me like you want to have all the fun that opening up early can provide a handful of you, yet none of the added responsibility that it adds to getting this particular format off the ground.

With all due respect, there is no difference between starting early and not starting early in regard to the need to check the players status. And, once again, this is a precedent that has gone back to the very first sims, especially once we could just leave the league and re-enter to change players without needing a ticket. It's no more nor less work for you or whomever starts the league.

As I said, I'll be happy to do it, but as I am on a plane then a trip the next two weeks, I wouldn't want to be unresponsive. Hardly asking for any more than what we've done for years here, and have been trying to do this pretty respectfully rather than just "do it" which is probably what should have happened as it would just be done.

12 batters. 340/447/578

Anyone going with 11 man pitching staff?
I have an 11 man staff. 1543 IP
Pitchers park? I'd be worried that's not enough innings
9x162=1458

Doesn't give me much room to compensate for poor performance, but with the 10-15 percent extra you can get out of pitchers I should get an extra 100 innings when I need to bench someone.

That's some good commissionering right there.

Hard to see how unilaterally imposing something that runs counter to the last twenty of these and adds no additional responsibilities is good commishing. Especially when a few of us, even if it's a few, really look forward to that aspect of the game.

Worse yet, it's not something that is discussed, and when numerous people ask to start the league, this decision is not explained for three days... RnR's done a great job here overall, but this is not the right way to go about it here, imo. And has at least for me (and perhaps others) taken a good part of the fun away which is what this is supposed to be about.

12 pitchers 1723 innings. $38,601 per IP. 0.93 WHIP non-normalized.

I like having a deeper bullpen than bench. I don't SimLive so I feel I have more control over how Sparky uses the bullpen guys. PH use seems more random to me. Having an extra arm allows me to bury underperformers to mop-up. I don't know how useful Hooks Wiltse will be in this sim and Phil Regan has sucked twice before.

10 pitchers

1975 innings

$36k per inning pitched

.96 WHIP

.214 OAV

5 K/9

1.7 BB/9

.22 HR/9

Non normalized. I have some flexibility and the extra innings come from Peterson and Spahn who will have to start around 25 combined games. Figuring out what to do with Reb Russell's 280 innings will be crucial.

And do we really think that everyone's going to be in the WIS league by Tuesday? Hoos is still dealing with his father probably and larry is, well, larry.

I might simlive some myself. You know everyone wont be in by Tuesday. Usually takes a week or two or longer for some people to join. Always does.
