Official World Cup 2010 Fantasy League (1 Viewer)

My team: GK - Robert Green, EnglandGK - Claudio Bravo, ChileDF - Sergio Ramos, SpainDF - Gianluca Zambrotta, ItalyDF - Giovanni van Bronckhorst, NetherlandsDF - Ricardo Carvalho, PortugalDF - Emmanuel Eboue, Ivory CoastDF - Jonny Magallon, MexicoMF - David Silva, SpainMF - Matias Fernandez, ChileMF - Javier Mascherano, ArgentinaMF - Piotr Trochowski, GermanyMF - Shunsuke Nakamura, JapanMF - Sebastián Eguren, UruguayST - Wayne Rooney, EnglandST - Antonio Di Natale, ItalyST - Carlos Vela, MexicoST - Humberto Suazo, Chile
Now THIS is a squad I'm down with. Rooney will be high scorer as England takes it all! Mexico is going deep with Vela leading the way (my kid Hernandez is not even starting now..grr). LOVE Suazo if he's healthy. Matias, Piotr, Carvalho, Bronck, and Bravo are gonna be sneaky $$ and push you deep imo. Zambrotta is the only weak link that jumps out at me but they do need him. Good job bro! :lmao:
YOU HAVE ALMOST NO WEAKNESS!!! Good job agaiun. :lmao:

And now, some stats.

Honduras 0

Algeria 0

North Korea 0

Overrepresented (IMHO): Denmark, Nigeria, Slovakia, Mexico and Ghana

Underrepresented: Honduras, Uruguay, Chile, South Korea and Australia

FYI, I'm basing over/underrepresentation on SPI rank - # taken rank (i.e., Argentina's SPI rank is 4th but they had the 1st rank in players taken). By this measure, Brazil should have had the most players chosen. I'm not sure I buy into this metric (just thought it was neat) since it doesn't take in the group strength. Although it does call into question why more guys from Denmark (SPI 21) would be taken than from Chile (SPI 8). And I think Nigeria comes out of that group, but I don't think South Korea will roll over - the selections probably should have been more even between those two.

Nigeria and even Mexico of late look like fast break type teams so that's why I went that way a little bit. Fourteenth pick forces some funny decisions. :whoosh:

USA with ten is a joke imo but I understand we like to pick our guys.

I know you're kidding, but you know that there are good players that don't play for the top 8 teams in the world, right? :nerd:

I'm pretty stoked that I got 3 of those 8 chileans.

I considered Chileans pretty much every round for the 2nd half of the draft, but could never pull the trigger. I think they'll advance out of the group.I have 1/2 of both the South Korean and South African contingents, and 1/3 of Australia. 2/7 of Uruguay too.

If it wasn't for your keepers I would say Winner right now. You will be ok in group but you MAY be screwed as Mex is going with the other guy and USA may lose early imo. I absolutly LOVE the rest of your squad and think you will be top 5 for sure and may even win it. The only possible weakness would be if your D didn't advance but thats not much of a weakness imo. Rooney and Fabiano woulda been a tough decision for me at 1.1 (I was CRUSHED when Fabs didn't falltome after he fell so far). Your strikers are SICK and could actually all advance which would be nice as I could use one and maybe Ill suck enough to steal one from you, lol. Solid MF for group and You will probably get some nice advances there too. I'm done ball washing but you did a great job.

Some questions on if I will have a XI for the knockout stage. My top 2 strikers should be gold and Novakovic should be able to get a goal or two with the defensive questions in group C. All of my midfielders are offensive minded aside from Bommel who should get involved just because everyone in Holland does. The defenders have 2 header specialists, 2 full back attackers, and 2 defenders on what should be solid defensive teams. I think Italy will play close to the vest and won't give up much. The Serbia goalie was just the best at the time IMO.

Thanks Pik...I put a lot of work into it as I am a soccer noob. I really only follow Man City and a few other EPL teams cause I hate them (Chelsea and Liverpool)

Still learning the soccer landscape.

Your pretty solid but I'm not as high on Villa as most (he's great btw) and I'm not totally sold on your team mix when it gets out of group. Looks like you will be top half anyway. :lmao:Lotta nice guay's you got there.

Wow, I am shocked by this. I thought you were a vet. Eff you on hating Liverpool btw butI hate Chelski more than the Yankees (and I was a Sox season ticket holder and lifelong baseball coach/player) so that's cool. Nice team. I love Craig Bellemy and Adabayor btw. Great players all around. :lmao:

You see, this is why I hate fantasy sports. I wish I could just watch the games unaffiliated, but now I'll have fantasy sports in the back of my head.

Guess I'm not expecting much out of my team anyway....I really hate fantasy sports.

Yeah, unlikely I will be represented well into the quarterfinals and it could cost me. I also have a number of players that great players for their nation but lesser at the club level. That needs to continue.

I won't even be thinking about my guys when watching unless maybe the match gets boring. I learned a while ago to enjoy the game and not worry about fantasy until afterwards. I have a realistic approach to starting players against the Bears but cheer against them avidly during the game.

I like your squad asa fan but I think you will be in trouble in group if Schwein doesn't go off. I can't figure out who woulda been your third and fourth rounders so thats probably gonna be bad, lol. I like some of your late grabs but I HATE alot of the teams advancing that you used. You also need Anelka to put up but they have not looked so good (which will killl my team also as I have Ribery and Gur at MF). Jozy :lmao: Prediction-7th-10th

 Although I am close to quitting all fantasy sports with 2 lil ones and general boredom with it. This was fun cause it was new though.

I did say that. Good thing you took him and saved me, lol. He could be HUGE but they don't look so good of late. Watch them win it all now.

i gave up on other fantasy sports a few years ago. it's so much nicer to just watch the games, root for teams and not get pissed if someone steals a goal line TD or something.i was glad for the opportunity here to get back into following soccer though.
