SCORING HELP:

As mentioned previously, I am out of town with no computer/internet/television access for the first few days of the tournament. I am leaving this Wednesday morning 6/11 and will be returning late Monday evening 6/16.

I have created a large scorekeeping Excel spreadsheet and have input all of the rosters to this point (so in that sense, all of the legwork is pretty much done).

Can anyone volunteer to be the scorekeeper for those first few days? Like I said, I am home on Monday 6/16, and I plan to take off of work on Tueday 6/17 and can clean up anything needed as I plan to lay on the couch all day and watch soccer anyway.
I can also help, can I have a copy of the spreadsheet?

I think my spreadsheet is up to date and accurate. If so, positions over the remaining 7 picks are pretty much defined

DF: Turtle, Gator & NAtive

MF: TLEF, Eephus and kupcho1

GK: Norman

Right?

Yall can skip me. I have absolutely no idea who to pick and have a busy day at work. I'll pick someone this evening.

I thought I had a ppotential target. Did a search this morning and nothing popped up. But apparently I don't know how to use the search function because when I went through the list one last time 10 minutes ago, I discovered he was picked like 10 rounds ago

I haven't reviewed this yet, but keep in mind that Boub and Sebowski each have makeup picks.

####### Tasker. I wish this draft had been during tax season imo.

I have to run a few errands, but I'll be back in a couple of hours. Carry on.
As you're the only one needing a keeper, so long as you get your pick in prior to first game, should be ok, right? (assumes no one has to replace an injured or dropped GK)

Shocking that nobody had picked him yet, i was torn between him and Matuidi with my last pick...
I like the pick a lot but was worried about his playing time. He'll probably be in more with Montolivo out though.
I think he starts and gets lots of PT...I had France rated a little bit higher, or I would have grabbed him with my RD 15 pick.

Group G is a group of death, but the England, Italy, Uruguay group is no piece of cake for those teams. Not sure who Costa Rica plays in the 3rd game, but if its Italy or England, I could see them sneaking a result against a tired european squad.

With 3 picks to go (I think I might be missing one somewhere):

France 16 (but will lose Ribery)

Germany 16 (but will lose Schurrle and Reus)

Brazil 14

Australia looks to be shut-out, Honduras with 1, and Costa Rica with 2

Group D (England, Italy, Uruguay and Costa Rica) has 37 picks

Group H (Belgium, Russia, Algeria, South Korea) has 25 picks

Top half of the draw - Groups A-D - 135 picks

Bottom half - Groups E-H - 119 picks

Most GK: Mexico - 2

Most DF: Netherlands - 6

Most MF: Germany - 8 (plus Podolski, who is now a FW) [two have been ruled out of the competition] Brazil and France each have 6

Most FW: Argentina, Uruguay, Ivory Coast - 4

Biggest Surprise: I think France with 16 players chosen, is a surprise to me, and I think I drafted 2 starters in rounds 14/15

Of the teams favored to get to the quarterfinals (2/1 odds or better - 9 teams) Portugal and Uruguay are least represented with 10). Of the longer shots (over 2/1 odds), Netherlands and Switzerland both with 11 picks. Of the Really long shots (7/1 or higher - 12 teams), Croatia with 9, followed by Mexico with 8.

If I multiply the odds by the # of selections - Cameron with 4 picks at 20/1 odds to reach the quarter finals is the highest number.

As for my team, I had good ideas, but I don't think I executed very well.

I have 13 picks on teams that are better than 3/2 to make the quarterfinals. I was able to grab 3 Brazilians, which is good for my strategy of getting players I think will last the longest, but I missed out on the MFers. Beyond Brazil, I was pretty spread out among the contenders, but I have two obvious holes in my team - from a general standpoint, 11 of my players are in the top-half of the draw, and only 5 are from the bottom half, leaving me open to missing out on semi-final players from groups E-H. And, more specifically, I have no Germans, or Belgians, two trendy picks to make it far in the Cup. Best case scenario for me is for France and Argentina to meet in the semi-finals from the bottom half, and Brazil v. just about any of the favorites in the top-half.

Good luck, I hope everyone stays injury free from here on out.

16.11 - TLEF316 - SKIPPED

16.16 - Kupcho - OTC

17.01 - Boubucarow (compensatory pick for Franck Ribery) - AFTER DRAFT ENDS

17.02 - Sebowski (compensatory pick for Marco Reus) - AFTER DRAFT ENDS

I don't think my players are going to be around long enough. 2 Brazilians, 1 German, 0 Argentinians, 0 Spaniards. I ####ed myself by taking 3 FWs in the first 5 rounds from teams that probably aren't going very far. I'll need at least 1 of them to carry my team deep into the tournament, like when Forlan (my 4th rounder) basically carried my 2010 team to the win.

Apparently our guy is fat and plays in the Chinese league. But he also takes pk's, had 20 assists in one season in the Bundesliga, and is the starting CAM for a team that's favored (slightly) to qualify.
He was on my shortlist. It was either him or The Algerian Messi.

12 DF: Gary Cahill, England
13 DF: Mario Yepes, Colombia
14 DF: Gary Medel, Chile

15 GK: Iker Casillas, Spain
16 GK: Noel Valladares, Honduras

13 teams represented:

2X Spain
2X Germany
2X Colombia
10X 1 team each - including 6 different South and Central American countries

Overall I like it. Podolski (Reus) and Griezmann (Ribery) are dark horses who are both nicely positioned to take advantage of injuries. In the end, it comes down to Ronaldo though. He can put the team on his back and win the Golden Boot or flame out in the first round. Wish he wasnt in our group so I could root for him without feeling guilty. My biggest sleepers are Colombian FW Teófilo Gutiérrez (River Plate leading scorer) and Victor Moses, whom I grabbed late - he takes penalties and is arguably their most menacing midfield attacker.

Edited: 8 from top half, 8 from bottom half. And I didnt think it about it until this morning when you guys started talking about it. :bag:

You sniped me more than anyone else in this thing FWIW. Wanted Zabaleta, Aurier, Gervinho, and Pogba all right around where you took them.

GK: Patricio, Portugal

GK: Navas, Costa Rica

Goalkeepers are overrated, MIRITE? :hifive: :kicksrock:

DF: Marcelo, Brazil

DF: Luiz, Brazil

DF: Blind, Holland

DF: Evra, France

DF: de Sciglio, Italy

Going to need some clean sheets from Brazil. I thought, Blind, de Sciglio, and Evra were all good late-round value picks in rounds 12-14, will be looking for some assists from these guys getting forward.

MF: Toure, Ivory Coast

MF: Gago, Argentina

MF: Rodriguez, Uruguay

MF: Sterling, England

MF: Matuidi, France

Best MF might not make it out of the group, in the end, Sterling, if he can get the starts, or Matuidi, if France can make a deep run, might be my best MFs. I feel good about Argentina and Uruguay making some noise - hopefully Gago and Rodriguez can be part of that...

FW: Fred, Brazil

FW: Costa, Spain

FW: Bacca, Colombia

FW: Dempsey, USA

Bullish on all of these guys. Fred and Costa both in the top-8 odds for most goals, I like Colombia's chances to advance, and I think the US will surprise - admittedly I felt better about the Dempsey pick before Altidore got off the schneid against Nigeria.

Brazil: 3

France: 2

1's across the board.

As soon as TLEF picks his last MF, I suppose replacement round(s) can begin.
TLEF timed out

Boub has now timed out too

I'm up?
Didn't you make 16 picks already???
:lmao: :lmao:

CHEATER

but he does have to replace Reus
Yeah, but not until after the draft ends and I'm not sure the draft ends til 16 teams make 16 picks. That said, TLEF shouldn't take forever. Especially since he's in the thread.

I got stung a couple of times, two big ones by Sebowski. Di Maria in the 1st round, and Rues in the 3rd( :thanks: ).

You got me with Barry in the 7th, looks like we both like Ivory Coast.

16.11 (belated) Christian Noboa- MF Ecuador

I can only go through the South American, African and Asian rosters looking for somwhat viable contributors before being totally demoralized.

Really, I get sniped just before I can make a replacement pick. I need some time now. Can I pick?
