I'm not very high on Dirks long-term but he's earned the right to play every day on this team until he proves otherwise. With Baker I think you can have a nice rotation of Boesch, Dirks and Baker with Delmon used as a pinch hitter. vs lefties: Young and Bakervs righties: Dirks and BoeschBoesch can play sometimes vs lefties, he hits them pretty well. Whatever scenario that exists where Delmon isn't playing works for me.Raburn may never return from the DL, there isn't any room for him. Only thing they can do is keep him there until the rosters expand. Wow Verlander screws himself with the error.

Jeff Baker found out he had been traded when the team got back from LA. Instead of waiting for a flight, he threw his stuff in his car and drove to Detroit. I like this guy already.

Yes, he strikes out a ton (3rd in the AL). I think it's fine but he has been a #5 hitter for two years now and the Yankees keep hitting him 2nd. If I were Girardi I'd slide Ichiro up to 2nd and drop Grandy to 5th where he could probably do a lot of damage with Cano and Teix in front of him.

He's already 6th all-time on the franchise K list. He's only halfway to Lolich but he's already achieved Denny McClain overall numbers (wins, ERA, WHIP, K, etc) and he's just 29. His WHIP and OAV totals are among the best in franchise history, he's probably three or four seasons away from being a "no doubt" best in franchise history.Yeah, I was just kidding. Seeing Bosch's 12 pitch at bat made me think of this for some reason:
On June 4, 1984, Bergman came to bat in the 11th inning with two men on base and two outs in a game against the Toronto Blue Jays. Bergman fouled off seven pitches, and on a full count hit the 13th pitch of the at bat into the upper deck at Tiger Stadium for a walk-off, three-run home run. In his book, Bless You Boys, Detroit manager, Sparky Anderson, wrote, "Tonight I saw the greatest at bat in my life...Bergie fouled off seven pitches and then picked one practically off the ground and drilled it into the upper deck in right. What a battle! Bergie was up there a full seven minutes."
Not sure why, but it jogged a memory.

Indians blew another one also. Never gonna feel real bad for the Indians but that team is better than 11 straight losses at any point in a season. Five unearned runs tonight from three errors, ouch.
Benoit was not available tonight, but maybe Leyland was just saving him for tomorrow. If they are up, they'll need him to close because Valverde threw more pitches than Porcello did tonight.
