Yeah, it is pretty bad. I think they were saying it was suppose to clear up in 20 minutes, but that was 20 minutes ago. It is geting worse. But the Tigers hitters seem to love the rain. C A B R E R A ! ! ! !Really surprised they haven't called this game.
Tuiasosopo is hitting .320. If we need anything in left it would be a left handed hitter. But I think Dirks will hit better.I hope Garcia gets healthy soon and gets called up. We need to get better production out of the LF spot. Seems to be the sole weak spot in the lineup outside of catcher.
Of course.....Does Minny and KC play as aggressive against every other team as they do the Tigers? Just seems like they play the Tigers like they have nothing to lose..running all over the place and taking chances.Fully expect to lose the series at home vs. the Twins.
What's amazing is the team has only, what, 6 errors to date? lol Maybe they're just not getting to balls, but still ...One thing that hardly gets mentioned anymore is Cabreras defense at 3B. Miggy has good hands and a great arm. I know his range is not the best but he is playing much better defense that most thought he ever could. Seems like he is enjoying it too.
I fully expect the tigers to sweep the Twins, tigers are starting to hit, starting pitching is lights out and the tigers found a closer in the big vFully expect to lose the series at home vs. the Twins.
Something tells me Valverde prefers "Papa Grande" instead of "Big V"I fully expect the tigers to sweep the Twins, tigers are starting to hit, starting pitching is lights out and the tigers found a closer in the big vFully expect to lose the series at home vs. the Twins.

)Yeah this is an ongoing conversation which I mentioned earlier. I think the best thing to do is expect very little, .235 and 12-15 HRs. Keep in mind though that Avila was 9th and 8th the past two years in the fielding bible for MLB catchers and was also a gold glove finalist the past two years. Getting production like 2011 out of your catcher is terrific but he was terrible in 2010 and last year and looks iffy this year at the plate. He is a valuable player behind the plate though so there is some comfort there.Anyone else wanna jump on the Alex Avila = Brandon Inge 2.0 bandwagon? I am wondering if 2011 was an aberration and he is really a .235 avg and 10 HR kind of guy. Season isnt as much fun without someone to complain about on a daily basis.
And if there are teams that can survive a crap bat at C, I'm pretty sure the Tigers are one of themYeah this is an ongoing conversation which I mentioned earlier. What the greater fanbase ignores about Avila is that the guy takes a walk like nobodies business. He's at 12.6% BB% for his career, and led the team last year. So even though his average and power stunk, he had a very good OBP and was an above average major league hitter. He's been bad this year, but there is most definitely hope. He's going to walk more and the balls he hits will start to drop in.Yeah this is an ongoing conversation which I mentioned earlier. Doc, I thought this was the type of player AA was projected to be when he was drafted. A solid defensive catcher who works well with the staff. A .250 or so hitter with a little pop at times. I don`t think he was ever projected to do what he did two years ago and probably will not do it again.Yeah this is an ongoing conversation which I mentioned earlier. Haven't seen more than a couple of ABs but I'm holding and hoping for the best. His .247 BABIP is way below his norms. Strikeouts and FB/GB/LD numbers seem to be more or less in line with what he's done in the past. 100 PAs is a small sample size, he's old and rusty and it's been cold and yada, yada, yada. Can we start worrying about V-Mart yet? Slugging less than everyone else in the starting lineup. Driving in 11% of the baserunners in front of him. Miggy is being Miggy and Prince is being Prince and the team is first in BA and OBP, but at what point do you move him down in the lineup?
He'll be fine, a whole year off takes its toll and there really isn't a better option to hit fifth right now.Can we start worrying about V-Mart yet? I'm just waiting for the first double intentional walk to Miggy and Prince to get to V-Mart.He'll be fine, a whole year off takes its toll and there really isn't a better option to hit fifth right now.Can we start worrying about V-Mart yet? 80's hairband or 80's XXX star, take your pick.Scotty Diamond sounds like a lead singer from an 80's hairband. Call him whatever you want but the Tigers are his #####.
I know it's the Astros, but he pitched a great game tonight. If he gives the Tigers a chance to win, he's worthy of keeping that starting job.Something needs to be done about Porcello.
I posted after the first two innings. It looked like another developing train wreck was coming against a crappy team. It is great to have Smyly in the bullpen, so I agree if Porcello can at least keep his starts competitive, it will be OK. But damn, he has sucked in nearly every outing. Maybe he can build off of this game and at least be respectable. But if he goes back to sucking the next couple of starts, I would seriously think about turning to Smyly.I know it's the Astros, but he pitched a great game tonight. How about the first double intentional walk to Miggy and Prince to get to Don Freaking Kelly? 7 innings, just a couple walks and a couple of hits. Don't get much better than that. On top of that, the bullpen was not depleted for tonight. Still have Al-Al and Big Papa fresh and ready if needed for tonight.Whew! AJax contributed when it was needed ...Kelly getting some hits. Putkonen (and all the relievers) very solid.
A good win.
In his last 66 games with the Tigers he had 205 at bats he had 1 HR and 12 RBI.Ryan Raburn is 11 for 13 with 4 HR and 9 RBI in his last 3 games.
Smyly, too! See if Fister can keep it going tonight.7 innings, just a couple walks and a couple of hits. Don't get much better than that. On top of that, the bullpen was not depleted for tonight. I would just like one free punch to his face with brass knuckles on. Just one.Anthony Borbely said:Ryan Raburn is 11 for 13 with 4 HR and 9 RBI in his last 3 games.
Should have done it when he was still in Detroit. Any returned punch would have been a sure swing and miss.I would just like one free punch to his face with brass knuckles on. Just one.Anthony Borbely said:Ryan Raburn is 11 for 13 with 4 HR and 9 RBI in his last 3 games.
