***Officialish Detroit Tigers Thread*** (3 Viewers)

If possible, if we're going the trade route, getting in ahead of the deadline would be the shark move. Prices will go up closer we get to July 31. Call me crazy, but a low B prospect for Kevin Gregg would be fine by me if he's still pitching like this in 2 weeks. The Cubs aren't competing this year, they know it, and Gregg is obviously hot. Who knows if it will stick or not, but even if it doesn't the cost to find out is minimal to none.

AJ to the DL. Avisail called up. Crap.

Torii moving back to CF?
I think this is a good thing. Now that Dirks is hitting after battling that knee problem all April if Avisail hits then we have 3 capable OF's in left and right when Austin comes back.

We will give you Gregg if you take Marmol

Talk to Mr. Illitch's wallet. I'd be fine with that and stashing him on the DL with a mystery injury if his wallet doesn't care.

I have come around on this. Greatest shtick in the thread.
Better than Bruce Rondon is in AAA?
Only slightly. Giving this unique shout-out to a guy hitting 0.212 who went deep off Houston of all teams is pretty shticky. But then I'm assuming at this point the entire teamramrod is just someone ####### with all of us at this point.

Why is Avila batting 6th? And why Santiago? The bottom half of the order is all messed up. Just because it is Houston, you still need to put your best lineup out there.

Kelly singled to left, Infante scored.

Santiago doubled to deep left, Kelly scored.

I guess Leyland knew Santiago had a double in him tonight. Congrats on his first RBI.
Its not like he's playing Santiago every day. He's only had 30 ABs all season. Leyland had to give Peralta a rest at some point.

Came as close as you can get to a sweep.
One foot higher or one foot closer to the RF foul pole and they win 8-7. I thought he had it...
As Rod Allen said..that was a HR in any other MLB park. Needed one more foot in Comerica though.
Seeing the tape ...more like 5 feet, but the point stands. The way Cabrera was watching instead of running, it's a good thing the CF didn't misplay the ball. Cabrera might have been stuck at first when he probably could have gotten to third on a misplay.

Bases were loaded, he could have stood at first as long as the three runners scored.

Al Al sent down
he seems like he has good stuff, but not enough control over it. something mental perhaps?
Just raw, Villarreal is mental. He has been pretty good since being sent down though with 14 Ks and 5 BB in 9 IP. Rondon is pretty much dominating but all three of those guys have to control walks. They are the three best bullpen arms we have and they walk the leadoff batter and go to 2-0 counts way too often.

Still at .212 after that 40 pitch at bat vs Yu that ended in a sac fly.

Them smiling at each other after the 7th or 8th foul was pretty neat.

Three bases loaded walks in the past two games, never seen him pitch like this. Everything is too high or too low which seems to indicate a moving release point from pitch to pitch.

It's mechanical. To me it looks like there is more movement in his motion, but the ball is all over the place. Him being able to spot 98 on the black and then throw the uncle Charlie with two strikes is what makes him one of the best. Plus Leyland lets him call his own pitches, that should stop tomorrow. He'll be fine but he needs to do some work.

Great job Porcello, I never doubted you. Weird game, last night a "pitcher's duel" produced 11 runs in three innings and tonight Porky and Tepesch shut everybody down.

Valverde's stuff looks as good as it did three years ago. Mid 90s fastball with tailing action and tonight he threw four splitters which tells me he'll be able to throw it when it's warm. The only reason Cleveland got to him was because he walked the leadoff guy and he walked Soto (worst hitter in the series but killing us) tonight. He's gotta stop doing that although wild Valverde is not a horrible thing. I'd rather he threw one in the stands though instead of walking .200 hitters.

I agree...I thought Valverdes stuff was very good last night. Hitting 95 with the fastball and 84 with the splitter. If he can keep the walks down he should be fine.Every time he threw an off-speed pitch the hitter were way out in front. Infante did make a very nice play or it could have been interesting.

Good to see the splitter back. Could not believe they were sending him out there with just one pitch for a while.

Not a good couple of innings there. Peralta, Cabrera and Tuiasasopo all should have been given errors letting two more runs in.

MIguel Cabrera is the best hitter in baseball and now it's not close on who is second or third or whatever. He's basically 1-5.
