**** Officials Pixels movie thread**** - July 2015 (1 Viewer)

I cant believe the amount of marketing/advertising they are doing for this movie. The only TV I really watch - live that is, where I see commercials - is sports, and this movie has easily had the most promotion of any summer movie this year. The amount of commercials it got during NBA playoff games was absurd.

Its clearly going to be bad, maybe even so bad that its laughably watchable, but itll be interesting to see whether it does terrible at the box office or eclipses $100 million, I wouldnt be surprised by either. I dont see any target audience for this, at all, besides less than intelligent americans who would waste $10 on this. Maybe 40-something guys who grew up playing those video games and were college ageish when Sandler was at his peak, who would take their family to see this was their intended target audience, but I dont see those people going out in droves for pixels.

As far as what???

I love the hate Sandler shtick. Never gets old at all. Usually the same people who will slob Will Ferrell's knob are the first to throw hate at Sandler.

Yes the movies are 80's throwbacks and formulaic. So what. They are funny and keep people entertained.

I don't think this word means what you think it means...

I wonder if this will affect the "Ready Player One" movie that is supposed to be in development? Hopefully not considering Spielberg is supposedly attached.

an Adam Sandler movie hasn't been funny in at least 10 years

If anyone does see this let me know if a 9 year old could watch
Saw it tonite, and the only thing that bothered my 12 y.o. was the romantic stuff (he cringes and covers his ears). There was a little language, but nothing hugely bad.

I actually liked it. Overall it was silly funny. I was 12 in 1982, so this hit me right as a target. Sandler doesn't offend me that much, and when I had a choice between this and The Minions, it was an easy choice.

The reviews are.....not good.

If you have fond memories of playing arcade games as a kid or don't want to watch a bunch of grown men act like eight year olds, then stay far away from this force-fed, regurgitated, feces spewing, and absolutely atrocious excuse for a comedy.

Minions was sold out then. Guess that does make it easier.

Some of these reviews are just plain awful. As far as movies go this year so far, my top three are:

1. Pixels

2. Avengers

3. Jupiter Ascending

Not sure if anything can beat those three this year though... even Star Wars.

I am not a big review prrson,I find that reviewers tend to hate comedy and only love potential award winning bore festavals. Animal House and Caddyshack were absolutely trashed by the critics when they came out too. I am not even remotely trying to compare this movie to those, just putting things into perspective.

Rotten tomatoes hates everything that is Sandler too. I expect to be entertained, not rotf from a movie. Maybe it is all about expectations going in.

I'm scared to see Avengers now.

I saw this review last night. This looks awful.

It's tracking at worst movie of all time levels at rotten tomatoes.
I hate Sandler now. He had some good stuff in the late 90's but that's been about it. Every movie he makes is the same man-child plot and he doesn't really have the range to do anything else.

I may catch this on Netflix when it comes out but no way will I pay money to see this in the theatre.

I do love how the articles can somehow praise and trash Sandler at the same time. It is almost like the money that his films make internationally does not count and only US ticket sales matter.

Overseas will get it back to even but studios don't make movies to break even. This was a huge bust. Hopefully this is the beginning of the end for him.

There were a couple of cringes during the movie, but it was what we thought it would be, a nice simple comedy. I was good with it.

Given the reviews, I expected much worse.  Not bad at all.  Good enough to watch on the treadmill.
