Ok what the world is going on with the RB's in fantasy football? (1 Viewer)

In my non ppr the top 12 list kinda makes you wonder WTF is going on?!!!

A.Peterson (he belongs here)

C.Johnson (he was slated to do well)

C.Benson (WTH)

F.Jackson (WTH)

S.Jackson (this ok)

M.Drew (should be high but ok)

R.Brown (he has shown in the past he can produce)

F.Gore (if not for injury would be top3/4)

C.Buckhalter (WTH)

M.Bell (injured but WTH)

J.Jones (WTGDH?)

M.Turner (WTH why isnt he top 5)

Ok whats going on here.....?

It seems very early to speculate. I think this would be an interesting post to revisit in wk 6. Somehow the cream always seems to still rise to the top, sometimes a turd floats up there as well.

Aside from a couple of short TDs, DeAngelo Williams has been nothing but a disappointment. He will not finish as a top 15 RB especially since Stewart is getting a good portion of the touches as well.

Tell me about it. I own him in 3 leagues and so far i think its the team but still he hasnt produced nowhere near what i thought he would.

He's doomed to a miserable season. I'm going to dump him to any chump willing to take him. He faces a seriously tough run schedule this year. Unless he's getting 80% of the touches or greater, he's going to continue down this path of futility.

Ouch, well i only play in Dynasty leagues and he is a special talent at rb to me. While it might not be showing with his numbers thus far there arent too many i would just deal him for cause they producing better right now. Im hoping he can pull thru. Just have lowered my expectations a bit now though.

7 of the 12 are not a shock.benson played well down the stretch last year.if you didn't expect fred jackson to be good in the first 3 weeks, you're not paying attention. buckhalter, bell and j. jones are shocking. turner ... everyone expected a dropoff from last year. he'll move up, but he won't be top 5 ... ryan is improving.

I think you could make a case for all 8 bolded players. Suprising but not altogether shocking.

I own him as well, not ready to dump him. I think the bye week does wonders for Carolina. they come back from that bye to face such comical defenses as Washington, Bucs, Bills, Cards, Saints, Falcons in consecutive weeks. They will also face the Saints and Bucs one more time after that.I just can't dump D. Williams just yet.. :deadhorse:As for the others, I was very high on Benson back in June, so I'm not surprised he's doing as well as he is..We knew what the 370+ curse would do to M. Turner, Brandon Jacobs is not doing well at all, guys like Forte, Grant et al are struggling, MJD isn't the #2 overall pick that many thought he'd be, he looks just OK..Buckhalter is for real, Moreno is decent but McDaniels is tied to the RBBC idea, so CB will continue to see plenty of action.

Considering where Benson was being drafted he is probably a shock to most, and how can you say everyone expected Turner to drop off from being top 5 when he was being drafted right around 5th?

Stewart got 3 carries for -1 yard last night.

McGahee's not in your league's top twelve?Does it subtract points for touchdowns?

Over 350 total yards and 4 TDs..?

One of the facts is that the reason that most of the top running backs are struggling is that the DEFENSES early in the season are ALWAYS ahead of the offenses. The lack of consistancy by the offensive lines, early in the year, and so many "three and outs" on offense hurts the running backs production even on the good teams. But..as the season progresses the better offensive lines will JELL, and those RB's those teams WILL.. take off...and right now we do see some perceived "bad" teams playing over their heads on defense, but as injuries and the wearing down over the weeks come, the stronger.. deeper better teams with a great offense WILL come around and dominate and the running backs on those teams, will be the recipients of yards and touchdowns..."A bird in the hand is worth.. two in the bush" -Saleen

Just for fun - here's last year's top 12 RB after three weeks in my PPR league. Not much like the preseason's top 12 from last year nor the end of the year top 12.

1. Bush, Reggie NOS RB

2. Barber, Marion DAL RB

3. Gore, Frank SFO RB

4. Turner, Michael ATL RB

5. Forte, Matt CHI RB

6. Brown, Ronnie MIA RB

7. Lynch, Marshawn BUF RB

8. Westbrook, Brian PHI RB

9. Jones, Julius SEA RB

10. Portis, Clinton WAS RB

11. Jones-Drew, Maurice JAC RB

12. Peterson, Adrian MIN RB

Ok whats going on here.....?
I have to say, little of this is surprising, not that any of us would have predicted it would go exactly like this...but:A.Peterson (he belongs here)

Agree

C.Johnson (he was slated to do well)

Agree

C.Benson (WTH)

Writing on the wall...he had many 20+ carry, 100+ yard games last year. The surprise is that he seems to have turned the corner. He looks consistent and runs hard. Near-career-death experience on Lake Travis?

F.Jackson (WTH)

Always looked good in relief of Lynch, and has been the starter games 1-3. Bigger question is does Lynch get the job back? I think he does.

S.Jackson (this ok)

He's been the same for 3 years: when he plays, 100+ combo yards, a couple of catches, always a threat to rip off a 50 yard TD every 3rd game.

M.Drew (should be high but ok)

He is the Jax offense, catches passes to salvage bad games in PPR. Plus, he met the HOU DEF this week.

R.Brown (he has shown in the past he can produce)

Gimicky...gets his points mostly on wildcat stuff. Team will suffer some short-term with loss of Pennington.

F.Gore (if not for injury would be top3/4)

Great but injured..hmm, sounds familiar. Plus a coach that is committed to the run and does what he promises.

C.Buckhalter (WTH)

Knowshown was hurt in preseason, along with Lamont Jordan. Buck has always been talented, but hurt.

M.Bell (injured but WTH) [

b]Was anointed the second coming of B. Sanders by Brees/S Payton in preseason when PT got hurt. Any RB in this O will run for 100 and 1 each week.

J.Jones (WTGDH?)

He's the starter. They brought in Edge, who's no threat. It is surprising that he's had a couple of big plays. I can't see how it lasts, esp with Hasselbeck out.

M.Turner (WTH why isnt he top 5)

Because he does what he does: shreds bad defenses (esp at home) and gets you 20 carries for 60-70 against tough DEF. No catches means no help in games vs. tough DEF.

I think the bigger story is the guys who are NOT producing...

Willis is the #1 RB in our league. And his owner has yet to start him :hijacked:

top 15 in ppr:

1) chris johnson - solely because of a 55 pt game, he won't stay here

2) mjd - solid every week, best chance to finish #1 overall

3) adrian peterson - suprised he's this high in ppr

4) willis mcgahee - he will slip but should still be top 15-20. not getting 32 td's this year

5) fred jackson - lynch will at minimum make it rbbc, chance for top 20

6) frank gore - even with a 0.4 last week, the injury will bounce him around #10, but he'll have top 5 ppg

7) julius jones - I'm shocked, but the OC has always had good rushing teams

8) tim hightower - solely by virtue of game 1 vs sf

9) darren sproles - will drop like a rock when lt returns

10) cedric benson - rudi part 2. I had him above his adp, but not this high. could be top 10 at the end

11) ronnie brown - if healthy, he is almost a top 10 lock. top 5 talent for sure

12) deangello williams - still have no idea where he ends up, but he will get more touches

13) kevin smith - top 15, but not top 10

14) ray rice - needs to improve td's, this is around where he finishes

15) steven jackson - if he stays healthy, he moves into the top 10
