Omar Gaither, Rocky McIntosh (1 Viewer)

doohow

Does anyone know if Omar Gaither or Rocky McIntosh will be playing on nickle downs for their respective teams?

Considering the reason Phily got rid of Trotter was so they could have a guy that can drop back and cover during passing downs, I would sure as hell hope Gaither plays nickle.

McIntosh definitely should get a lot of time in the nickel with Washington moving to end. Gaither was supposed to be in the nickel when he was behind Trotter, so I think the time given to Gocong was to coach him up in coverage during the preseason. I think both are safe every down backers.

Thanks guys, I am thinking of dropping Barret Ruud and picking up Gaither or McIntosh.

Any thoughts on who would be the best of the three?

McIntosh played the nickel with Fletcher all preseason. Now, Washington was out with that dislocated elbow, but seeing as how he's supposed to play a DE spot as Jene said (with LDE Daniels likely moved inside to DT most of the time) that shouldn't affect McIntosh's role in the nickel.

I would think with Gaither's speed, Philly would want him in the nickel package. He appears to be more of a will backer than mike, and I'd be surprised if he is the long term answer in the middle.

I agree with Jean on McIntosh.

I really like Ruud and beleive Trotter is in no way a threat, however McIntosh would be very tempting.

That's a tough one given the relative lack of track record both guys have in the lineup. It occurs to me that McIntosh probably has less competition for his job than Gaither, who I could see being replaced by Spikes at MLB if he struggles, and I do worry a bit about Gaither's light weight holding up in the middle all season long. There's not much on the 'Skins roster by way of a replacement for McIntosh - who absolutely stood out with his tremendous play in the preseason BTW - especially with the departure of Lemar Marshall. FWIW - I have Gaither in both of my IDP leagues, McIntosh in none. I'm a 'Skins homer.

Even if Gaither got moved from MLB he would still start at WLB where he played pretty well last year. No way he would end up on the bench considering the next 2 LBs are Matt "Speedbump" McCoy and Bradley (a rookie).

I agree ...Also agree with redman on McIntosh. I seen him play once this preseason and he looked pretty good.

I picked up McIntosh in a dynasty league. what kind of production should owners expect from him this year? Is he a better start than Dansby or Gaither? this league awards 1pt solos and 4pt sacks

Gaither is playing MLB in a system that has historically good scores at MLB (Trotter who didn't play on passing downs). I would expect Gaither to outscore Rocky (WLB) over the season.
