On average, how many starting RBs get hurt on a yearly basis? (1 Viewer)

It seemed like this was the year a lot of us went WR-WR in the 1st and 2nd, at times leaving us thin at RB. A lot of us are starting #2 or #3 type RBs and have a bench full of backups on strong run teams like Brown (IND), Mccoy (PHI), Coffee (SF), etc. all but praying for an injury so they can get a starting opp.

Are there any statistics available that show on average how many starting RBs go down each year, and also the average length of the injury would be cool too.

How many teams are in your league? There's so much talent available that will give you production each week instead of stacking a bunch of "maybes" on the bench.

12-team ppr. I'm starting Willis McGahee and Ray Rice this, I also own the Benson and LJ...but have 4 backups riding my bench.

I wrote an article a couple years back where I found that in recent years 40-50% of NFL teams used a different RB as their primary ball carrier by the fantasy playoffs (Weeks 14-16) for at least one of those games (and many times even more).

I did not put any consideration into why they were different, so it could have been a combination of injury, suspension, poor performance, different role, etc.

It's a long season, and at some points backups may have some value, but the question will always be who and when.
