One last thought on Cinn and the CJ incident... (1 Viewer)

After reading all the conflicting reports about CJ and the coaches fighting at halftime of the playoff game and reading that there are "insiders" who say "something" happened, I've come to this conclusion regarding this issue:Lewis and the team have remained steadfast in the face of this media onslought. Clearly some media outlets want the story to be true so they can pat themselves on the back for uncovering a crack in the team chemistry and offerring their "unbiased" advice on to run the team. Yet inspit of the media's attempts at this, they have failed. Lewis wins a hard battle that was important to him and team to keep whatever happened "in their house" and not debate it in the media like so many others do. Hats off to Lewis and the Bengals for standing together in the face of a battle that almost certainly would tear down their success from this past year and make it difficult to continue their climb next year.I don't know what happened but I do know that Lewis and The Bengals did not succume to the pressure of many media outlets and fold when the chips were down. It may not seem like much but shows that Lewis has control of this team and clearly the team is bigger than any one player.

The Bengals are yesterday's news.
:goodposting: Today's news is how the Stillers will lose yet another championship game.
:D I wouldn't be shocked if they did, but I think we can win this one. FWIW, I think the Panthers can beat Seattle, and I wouldn't be very surprised to see a Pittsburgh/Carolina Super Bowl.

That would make for some fun times around here. :towel:

Only, if nothing really happened, then Lewis has shown just about nothing.

I'm no CJ hater. In fact, I admire him and view this as a bad bump in the road. But I read this post and am left shaking my head at the denial/homer take. Lewis and his assistant have a physical confrontation with a player, without any ramification to that player. Certain players go public with it suggesting CJ gets special treatment and he was being a big baby. Lewis and the assistant coach futher cater to CJ by "blessing through silence" his press conference not taking accountability for the reported acts. And not just a denial, actually saying that Lewis *would have* punished him if it were true. Can you imagine being a treammate who personally witnessed it after a comment like that effectively castrating Lewis? And it's not just PFT who knows of the incident. David Lapham confirmed it. ESPN confirmed it. Boomer confirmed it. Obviously teammates are not going to come forward naming themselves seeing as how they'd be slitting their own throats to call people liars.Sorry, I'm missing the part where anything is staying in house; it isn't. Lies are being publicised and players don't have the luxury of putting their names next to their refutations. I'm also missing the part where Bengals are doing something right, other than shoving their head in the sand while a star player tramples over them and while teammates wonder about special treatment.Again, I'm not a CJ hater, but I certainly am not a CJ apologist after this sideshow.

A few players on the team have corroborated that there was an "incident," and more than one source has independently confirmed the commonly known facts about this situation. The only reason its not a big deal is.....its not a big deal. CJ wasn't trying to hurt Lewis, and emotions were high. Sheet happens.

I think the premise of the post is spot on actually. I just think back to the bad old days of Carl Pickens and the litany of guys forcing their way out. This ain't the love boat incident guys, nothing close to that. If Chad really were breaking the team down - he'd go. Believe me. He'd go.-QG

According to Boomer Esiason, Lewis apparently does not have as much control over his team as you think.

I think this sums it up well. My point was the media was trying to make something out of it and the Bengals just weren't playing along. Well stated diesel!

Until I have something more than Boomer creating contraversial quotes to make his career more interesting I'll take it for what it's worth. Boomer's job is to create interest and to differeniate himself from others. Being a former Bengal he has the ear of the media regarding Bengal news.I'm not sure Boomer would know if Lewis has the control or not. It doesn't seem to be coming from anyone but "insider" sources. Unless we get something more it's just a rumor.

I really don't know what happened and only have rumors to go on. I do not see any Bengals coming out and contradicting what the team or CJ is saying about it. It "inside" sources and that wears thin after a week or more or this rumor floating and nothing but more rumors to go with it. At some point you realize that the Bengals are not going to play along with the media's rumor game.I'm sure something happened but apparently it's not to the level some are speculating it to be. And I'm pretty sure if were as serious as some making it out to be CJ would have been dealt with.

Let's not forget that the Brown family doesn't mess around with bad apples. They've been known to rid themselves of problems in the past and I'm sure they would again if needed.

Sorry but I don't get this post?

being a Bengal fan I have much love for Boomer, but I can't believe anything he says anymore when I here him on local radio in Cincy back Chad and how Marvin is in control and that same afternoon he was on radio in New York saying the opposite.
