I asked this same question late last year and it was close to 60/40 towards LT. Back in Feb, someone else asked it and it was closer to 50/50.

So I am curious as to what people are thinking now.

I was shrewd enough to get LJ last year while keeping LT2 and rode them both to the title. Now I am wondering what the best thing to do is. I believe in a redraft, LJ is the man to go with. But is it the right move when thinking about the next 3-5 years?

Can't you trade one for draft picks?
Nope, not an option. This idea came up before, but was shot down. Basically, the thought is that once the season is over, you only own 1 of your players on your roster but you just have not indicated which player that is yet (that happens on draft night). So if I traded LJ for picks and kept LT, I would have behaved as if I ownd both.

Voted LT. He has been the most consistent RB over the past 4-5 seasons, no sign of slowing down. A lot of talk about his value slipping with the loss of Breese but remember, he was a huge fantasy stud before they drafted rivers and breese went on his tear.

LT all the way.

P.S.

You really cant go wrong. It's like choosing between a maseratti and an aston martin. It's a good problem to have.

For those voting (especially for LJ), can you give your reasons why.
for me, it's mainly two things:1) I've got him ranked higher this year

2) 1226 fewer carries
I don't doubt this, but that is my dilema ... is LJ performance next year enough to "cover" the years beyond that (like when Rolf retires).

I would also go with LJ. Much less wear and tear, and a more stable OL and QB situation. What he achieved in the last half of last year was simply amazing.

While LT2 is a great second prize, I feel LJ has a better future.

All of you voting LJ because of less wear and tear due to carries are apparently ignoring the different running styles of each of them. LJ is a straight ahead power runner who takes a lot of hits while LT is more elusive and avoid hits when he can and tries to get out of bounds. LJ is a beast, no doubt about it, but that style of running generally leads to injuries more often that a back who tries to avoid contact as much as possible.

LT2 has proven his effectiveness regardless of the talent level of his offensive line and supporting cast, and he's been durable enough to average 400 touches over a 5 year span.

I'd say LJ's upside is greater simply because of his "football youth", but LT2 is more of a can't-miss prospect.

Or because, last year as more than just a part-time back, he had more yards at a better yards per carry average with more touchdowns than Tomlinson has ever had in his entire career?Just a thought.

As for his running style, I'll buy that to a point. But they both get hit, or at the very least tackled, on most occasions they touch the football. How many times did you see Johnson get jacked up last year? Even hit that he so much as sucked wind afterwards? I watched every game he played in, and my answer would be "very few".

Did you miss the "I'd say" part of my comment?

Right. You'd take a guy because he has less wear on the tires but not because he's already completey outperformed the competitor. Makes sense.
I said, "I'd say LJ's upside is greater simply because of his football youth". Or put another way, his youth, regardless of past performance, necessarily dictates that his upside is greater. However, having a greater upside does not mean he is the better choice of the two for a long-term keeper. I look at durability and effectiveness in different situations when considering long-term keepers, and LT2 scores highly in those respects.LJ is a great talent, but he's not the first running back to explode for one season, and in MY book his remarkable performance certainly doesn't overshadow LT2's four straight top 3 finishes, something few backs have ever done.

What's the scoring system?
6pts for all TD; bonus of 6pts for 100+ rush or rec yds
we're heading into ACF territory here - just a warning.

 what am I missing here?

How can discussing the merrits of keeping 1 super-stupendous studly RB over anotherbe described as anything other than 'sharing NFL talk and FF strategy discussion?'

on point....LT has certainly laid the ground work to warrant selection, based on consistency over a 4 year track record

...AND...the KC run game (ie LJ) has certainly warrants selection, based on the rediculous numbers generated as a team over the same 4 years

LJ's situation lends itself to a higher ceiling, while LT's floor is alot higher (based on a higher probability of Johnson getting dinged, IMO, due to style)

if your nature is "no-tax, state bonds"...take LT

if you like real estate auctions, go LJ!

general strategy - deciding which player to keep for HIS team given HIS specific scoring rules = heading into ACF territory.
