One Week FREE Fantasy Contest - $500 in cash prizes for FBG's (1 Viewer)

Anthony Borbely

Footballguy
Fantasy enthusiasts all over the country are now participating in daily and weekly fantasy leagues for cash on DraftStreet.com. We’ve partnered up with Draftstreet to do a FREE one-week fantasy league with $500 in prizes exclusively for FOOTBALLGUYS members.

This is a salary cap league where everyone tries to assemble the best team out of the available players. You will have a $100,000 budget to build a team of 2 QBs, 2 RBs, 2 WRs, 1 TE, 2 FLEX, and 1 Defense. Each NFL player has been allocated a price based on their expected fantasy performance. For example, Tom Brady costs $18,220 whereas Cam Newton only costs $9,054.

You can adjust your roster up until the contest starts on Sunday, September 11th at 1:00pm ET at which time your rosters will lock and the Live Scoreboard will be available.

CLICK HERE to sign up for free and register for the FOOTBALLGUYS $500 Freeroll on DraftStreet.com.

Please note: the players involved in the Thursday night game (September 8th - New Orleans @ Green Bay) will not be available for this week's contest.

Doesn't this company take 20% juice from all leagues?

Thanks for the free league but I think this is the only one I'll play.

Actually, at a quick glance the NFL games on their site right are at 90+% payout if my math is right: LINK440 slot league at $2 per entry pays $800 prize pool (90.9%)

150 slot league at $11 per entry pays $1500 prize pool (90.9%)

:2cents:

Just wanted to bump this. Sign up for a chance to win $500. This is FREE for all FBG members. Did I mention it was FREE? :banned:
Is this for the first week only or is this for each week of the season?
There is a new contest with a $500 prize every week, and it is free all year.

Hmmmm... this is the second of these in a week (along with the FanDuel contest). Interesting marketing strategy by the websites partnering with FBG's to promote their contests.

Suppose you can't beat free, but can't say I'm not at least somewhat leery. Especially after some of the documented payout issues of other website contests this year.

Good luck guys.

Since this contest is totally free, there is no way anyone can lose by entering.

I just want to remind everyone that you can sign up until Sunday for the week one contest. The players in Thursday's game are not available.

Curious why you're pimping this so much?If you're doing it to be kind, thank you. If you're doing it because FBGs gets some kind of kickback for everyone that enters, then boooo.I agree with J Giles Band - this plus the other contest reeks a bit of a money grab

There is no kickback to Footballguys for people entering a FREE contest. The amount of participation in the contest has zero impact on our bottom line, though we'd love to see these FREE leagues be successful. I find it strange that people dislike us finding them a FREE weekly fantasy football salary cap league to participate in. Listen, we're trying to enhance the value of our customers' experience here on the message boards and also for our subscribers. We have found some companies willing to host FREE fantasy football contests. I think that's pretty cool. It's certainly not something to get down on Footballguys.com about. If you don't want to try a FREE contest, then don't. But there's no reason to get mad at us for going out and getting this advantage for our customers. MW

The price is your personal information. If you give them actual info, prepare to be barraged with junk snail mail/email in perpetuity. I'm not saying it's not worth it, but just be aware of what "free" is costing you.

Understood AB. And please don't misunderstand as I'm not complaining about you bringing this to our attention. But if the company doesn't make their payouts, you do in fact, lose.Just saying I'm more careful with random contests and johnny-come-lately websites these days.

I appreciate your sensitivity on this Mark. I can't speak for anyone else, but I don't think the issue is so much guys getting mad because you are bringing the free contests to our attention. I think we all appreciate being informed of such opportunities.I think what may have the eyebrows raised for a few of us is the fact this was the second contest posted within a week and the manner in which this one was promoted (multiple reminder posts, etc.). Maybe it is the cynical world we live in, but it begins to feel a lot like a sales pitch and not just an informational post. This thread just began to take on that feel to me (and apparently a few others).I for one, have no problem if FBG's benefits from a partnership with another website or contest. That said, transparency might be a good call if you are promoting another website under these auspices. More importantly, I certainly hope there is at least some vetting process by FBG's of these sites/contests so guys don't have a poor experience (free doesn't mean it couldn't still turn out to be something you'd regret: no payout, website folding, spam, etc.). FBG's is too good of a website to risk such a poor association.I think guys appreciate everything FBG's does to improve our experience here. With that in mind, please take this as constructive criticism.

NP, J Giles Band,The proof will be in the pudding on this. We are comfortable with Draftstreet, but if there are any concerns here then let the weekly participants let us know if they are honoring the free contest and doing what they promise with the prizes. If they don't, you'll hear it here first. Bottom line, nobody has to risk a dime to try out this FREE contest. MWGood Luck in all your fantasy leagues this week, Footballguys.

So what? The contest costs the same as it does to post on this message board. I personally appreciate these type of contests, and only have access to them because of this message board. Thank you FootballGuys... there I said it. :)

I just want to bump this for those that have not seen this...namely my fellow insomniacs.

Remember, it is totally free and these weekly contests will run all year.

Note: the players in Thursday's game between the Packers and Saints are not available.

Good luck to those that enter.

Notice that too, huh? The way AB and Mark are pushing this thing I sure hope they're getting something out of the deal. Even if it is FREE.

Good luck to all today.

Did real well for yards, receptions etc....even on defense. But my entire team scored only 6 TDs, including my QBs, leaving me in middle of pack.

no, they are introducing us to the site and hoping we decide put our money into it. its just advertising.
