For those that can't make a live draft due to geographical location, how do you draft? I'm talking more drafts with friends/colleagues rather than pickup leagues with FBG's or others.
I typically sign in at least half an hour before the draft and catch up with friends who I may not have spoken to for a few months, may be a quick webcam. Good summer? How's the family? etc. Obviously check draft order as my league uses Yahoo (
) that doesn't assign draft positions until then. Aside from quick mental calculations about how the draft order effects my strategy its mostly small talk. Maybe a bit of a banter.
Then as the draft approaches I'll be firing up DD, FBG lists to compare with my own lists. What other sites or online resources do you use?
The early rounds are pretty intense, not much chatter. The odd "nice pick" or "reach", not much else. Towards the later rounds (IDP league so there are many) we'll chat a bit more and by the time it gets to sleepers and kickers people are chatting away a lot.
Am I being too laissez-faire or is this par for the course? I guess I'm asking more about how I can improve my strategy without being too much of a #### to my friends.
One example, last year I made the mistake of using two laptops - my main laptop was a Mac that didn't have everything I needed eg. DD, and found myself flicking back and forth constantly. It was too confusing.
