Onlive Petition to get Al "Whitey" Wistert into football HOF (1 Viewer)

Several collectors are attempted to get a large petition for Wistert to be inducted into the Pro Football HOF. If you don't know anything about him, please see here....

A member of the NFL's 1940's All Decade Team, Wistert was an 8 time All Pro during his nine seasons. Five of those seasons he was a unanimous consensus selection, being named First Team All Pro on EVERY wire services selection. Unfortunately, during all but one year of Al's career, the NFL had suspended the Pro Bowl, thereby limiting him to only one Pro Bowl selection. Pro Bowl selections are a crucial number that many NFL Hall of Fame voters seem to use as a criteria. It is safe to say that had the Pro Bowl been active during the length of Wistert's career, he would've made the Pro Bowl at least 8 of his 9 NFL seasons.

Although in agreement with the others that he should be receiving serious consideration I do not believe his cause is helped by misstating his Pro Bowl record which is what I am interpreting from the 1st sentence. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Pro Bowl appearance does not equal All-Pro. All-Pro is an award that is much harder to acheive - it's the whole league, and there aren't nearly as many reserves.A parallel would be devaluing Vince Lombardi because he only won 2 Super Bowls. Since he coached mostly when there was no Super Bowl, it's hard to hold that against someone.
