Bigger to me than my birthday. I will be firmly planted in front of my TV w/ drinks, brats and not doing a damn thing but watching baseball today!

GO Reds!

For, lo, the winter is past,

The rain is over and gone;

The flowers appear on the earth;

The time of the singing of birds is come,

And the voice of the turtle is heard in our land.

Ernie Harwell

I haven't seen the whole game, but what I've seen, I thought Harang looks pretty solid so far. Leaving one over the heart of the plate for Pujols is never a good idea. Carpenter is melting down right now, so it looks like the Reds have a good shot in this one.

Buerle had a nice between the legs toss to throw out Marson at first. Look for it on the highlights today.

Same old Tribe. :kicksrock:

Buehrle made one of the better plays I've ever seen in my entire life.

Ball drills him in the leg, starts rolling towards 1B, about 8 feet inside the bag. Buehrle goes after it, gets to it about 6 feet past the foul line, takes his glove, scoops the ball between his legs like he's hiking a football to get the put out.

Be sure to check the highlights. I'm not a WebGem sort of guy, but this thing was insane.

My memory may not be correct on this, but will this be the 2nd year in a row that Chris Dickerson will be the Opening Day lead-off man/center fielder and then play himself out of the line-up within a couple of days?

His day today: 0 for 4. 2 strikeouts. LaRussa purposefully leaving a righty in because he wants Dusty to leave Dickerson in (instead of Gomes). Horrible throw to let the Cards put the game out of reach.

That is probably the "Web Gem" of the year...no doubt about it really. Gotta love Burls...not an ace, but pretty damn good. I see him pitching till his mid 40's...

He's adament that he is retiring after next season. Not sure if believe or not.

It should've been an easy, scoreless innings. Back-to-back bloopers that probably would've been caught by a faster center fielder led to the floodgates opening up.
Good to know....I just checked the box score of my beisbol team and saw he had an ERA of 162.00.
It's still bad news though. He certainly lost his cool after a few bad breaks and the center fielder probably won't be getting any faster.I've had Zambrano before too. It's quite a roller-coaster ride.

Haren looked sharp today. I loved Drews inside the park standing up home run. Mark reynolds looks to be picking up where he left off. Chris Young looked better even though his box score sucked. Upton is a monster. He looks like his muscles have muscles.

Gotta love MLB Network. Is there really any reason to not have that on from 6 until last pitch, unless you are watching your team? I can't think of one.

Only seven games on day two, with no afternoon games? Kinda screws up the momentum, if you ask me.
Today is always a miserable day. The reason they do it (most teams off today that played on OD) is for weather, so that if Monday is rained out, today is OD. Legit, good reason, but it always sucks the Tuesday after OD.

Yea but teams like the Rays that were off yesterday should have had a day game today.Doesn't even feel like opening day when your team is playing a night game on day two of the season.

Agreed. I was saying yesterday that if the home opener is ever at night I'm going to be pissed. I take that day off every year. It's my yearly Easter/Christmas church going experience.

At least they don't open with a regular season series in Japan anymore
