I was a little torn with the rankings of Cole and Tuck. Cole has shown us more, but I think Tuck has more upside...especially with Strahan's advanced age (34). Osi is locked-down long-term and I see Tuck as a future starter opposite him.

There's a decent chance Cole could outscore Tuck from a FF perspective in '06, but I think Cole will never be more than a pass-rush specialist while Tuck could evolve into a 3-down DE.

Agree with the rankings by Rapture except Rodney Harrison tops the safety list for me. Parrish is a solid option and I am more confident he will be back to form next year, but the upside with Harrison is top 5 DB.

My impressions of Cole and Tuck are the same. Everything that I hear is that the Giants are happy with Tuck, but he is just stuck behind to excellent players. Think we are going to find out this year if Cole can win the job opposite kearse. Scott did not suck when given his chance last year, but I am assuming that if Udeze can stay healthy that he is better player.

On safeties any news on harrison recovery? My understanding is that the injury is brutal, especially for a guy in the latter part of his career.

Before the season last year I was listening to a beat writer for the Vikings on Sirius Radio. He though Scott was their best DE and Udeze and James would battle it out for the other spot. Not sure if his opinion has changed, but thought I'd throw it out there for you.

Regarding Harrison - shortly after the injury I heard he wasn't so sure he'd be back. I can't remember for certain, but thought I recently heard he is rehabbing and planning to play next year.

I have Udeze in Zealots and I had been hearing that Scott and James may both end up beating him out. IIRC, besides the injuries, Udeze didn't have the motor or desire that they thought Scott and James had.

There are some news blurbs on Harrison's FOXSports player page. Link.
News: Rodney Harrison says he on pace in his rehab to return for the 2006 season.

Impact: His status for training camp is still uncertain, but Harrison is already working out four days a week for 3-5 hours a day. (Wed. Feb 1, 2006)

News: Patriots safety Rodney Harrison will rehab his three torn knee ligaments with the team in the Foxboro area.

Impact: Harrison usually heads to Atlanta for the offseason, so this a good indication that he is very serious about returning next year. His agent says its "too early to tell" if Harrison will be back for training camp next year. (Thu. Jan 19, 2006)

Vikings | Udeze making his way back

Sun, 19 Feb 2006 19:18:24 -0800

Kevin Seifert, writing for the Sporting News, reports Minnesota Vikings DE Kenechi Udeze (knee) is working his way back from a knee injury that cut short his 2005 season. Udeze had microfracture surgery performed on his knee, an advanced procedure that doesn't always allow football players to get all the way back to 100 percent. This winter, however, Udeze has begun running agility drills at the team's practice facility. Udeze will have to beat out DE Darrion Scott or DE Erasmus James to regain his starting spot in 2006.

What does this announcement do for Cole's projections? Do you think he will be a top 20 DL? When giving playing time, he has produced.

Rotoworld) The Eagles are comfortable with Trent Cole starting opposite Jevon Kearse next season.

Impact: Philadelphia has plenty of needs, but they probably don't need to add a lot of depth on the defensive line. They are young there, with tackle Mike Patterson also a likely starter.
