Oregon St. basketball player trips ref (1 Viewer)

The sad part is, over 160 people gave the video a thumbs up and only three gave it a thumbs down. Seems about right for our society.

Unless there is some pattern with this kid this shouldn't be that big of a deal. He apologizes, sit him for a game, coach get on his ### for a few weeks in practice.

Definitely intentional. Didn't get the call when he looked back at the Ref while moping on the ground. 4 games seems appropriate.

Guy is a senior. Safe to say he hasn't don't anything like this before or it would have been mentioned over and over. I wouldn't ruin the year for him. 4 games seems fair.

For those applauding the apology, should be noted he denied any wrong action after the play to his coach. Likely owning up to obvious video evidence and not doing the right thing.

Reid, a senior, complained that there was no foul call, and while getting up he seemed to make eye contact with Nunez. Then, he stuck his right leg out and Nunez tumbled to the court.

Afterward, Tinkle said he didn’t see the play, but Reid “swore he didn’t do anything.”

Yeah, the 4 game suspension is as much for the lie than for the trip. If he admits fault right after the game then he's probably only going to get suspended for 1 game. Oh well. Learn your lesson and move on.

You thumbs up for visibility don't you? I don't think that means "hellllz yes, f the police"
I'd agree. It was excellent camera work showing something pretty unbelievable. Hence, the thumbs up for the video (even if you felt it was a terrible thing the kid did...which it was).

Kind of like giving a thumbs up to someone on Facebook who posts "My grandma just died". You're not cheering on this death, just acknowledging that you've seen the news and like the person delivering it.

(Note - This is a whole other diatribe regarding the latter FB point since I'm not really on-board with that notion, but it's the standard now. Anyone who thinks "I'll click thumbs-up and it will make the other person know how much I love them" is deluding themselves. Old man rant to follow about how people need to break out a pen and stationary now and then - or at the very least a telephone - to communicate with someone the old-fashioned way. And get off my lawn.)

Agreed. He's been shamed for this on a national scale ...he's gotta live with it (as does his family). He might have cost his team the game (tied when it happened, I believe), so I don't think they'll be laughing about it in the locker room.
