The Phillies do the same thing. They don't put a few high interest games available for single games tix at at first. They offer them as part of packages (season tix, 6 game plans etc.) Now they have a lottery for opening day and Red sox. O's probably doing something similar.
At least the Phillies won the WS last year. The Orioles are as close to a mortal lock for last place as you can get. It's annoying enough as a non-fan; I can't imagine being a fan of the team and getting forced to buy a package just to get opening day tickets. Though I do realize this is the route several teams are taking.
God, you're annoying. The arrogance you portray because you ROOT for a team is astounding. I hope you and your fellow fans pay through the nose.
Seriously, I apologize if anything came across the wrong way here. I'm saying I feel badly for YOU guys because your ownership (which is probably one of the worst in all of sports) is forcing you to pay for 20 games just to get to go to opening day. How in the hell does that make me arrogant or annoying?ETA: Please don't take offense to the ownership comment either. I'm not trying to get in a "dig" or anything; just stating something that countless others have said for years. The O's used to draw 3.5 million in their sleep, while last year's attendance was under 2 million. The team obviously hasn't been successful for a long time, either in results or attendance figures.
So to force people to buy 20 games for a team that they only want to see once or twice seems unfair to me. If you like the current setup, more power to you. There aren't many true fans like that, who will go see a team through thick and thin even when they're struggling AND buy 20+ game packages in a poor economy to watch a team that is likely going to lose somewhere between 85-95 games. I meant nothing against you or any other O's fans, and I'm really confused as to what I said that was so terrible.
