Orpheus Roye (1 Viewer)

32 solos with 8 assisted and 1 sackGood enough for 5th-best DT in my league. He'd be 14th-best if he was listed at where he plays, which is DE. Even so, the dude is putting up great numbers. Especially considering that he plays in the 3-4 which is traditionally unkind to DEs. Also, you'll find most of the top DLs get their numbers from sacks. Roye is getting his from tackles. Just amazing production from this guy so far.

Yeah, I have him and John Henderson in a dynasty league where we start one DT. I'm going to try and trade him since Henderson's younger and I'm worried Roye might be made a DE by mfl next year.

Even as a DE Roye is top-20 in most leagues (14th in the SFL).

He'd be the #5 DE in this league, but I already have two of the guys ahead of him (Jason Taylor and Kyle Vanden Bosch). Also, we use a salary cap for keepers where a player's salary is based on their point total from the previous year. I'm currently the highest scoring team and will likely not be able to keep him next year.

The other DE for the Browns, Alvin McKinley, is also putting up good numbers (20 solos, 9 assists, 2 sacks, and 1 FF). Good enough for 7th DT and 20th DE. Pretty good production for a couple of guys not on the radar at the start of the season.Again, it's rare to see that type of production from DEs in the 3-4. With both of them getting those types of numbers, maybe it's something in the scheme.

He is DL no. 3 in my leagues, which emphasize tackles ... I have him in both!
I think the fact that his production is mostly due to tackles is amazing. Sack numbers can be deceiving.

I've made two offers with him. I'm hurting at LB this week because Vilma, Brackett, and Tatupu all have a bye. Plus, Ray Lewis has some kind of thigh injury, hopefully he'll play.So I offered Roye and Brackett to one owner for Derrick Johnson and to another owner for Odell Thurman. Brackett, Johnson, and Thurman are all pretty close in points in this league, but Johnson and Thurman don't have a bye this week.

He was on my radar! He was my deep, deep sleeper ...

Dont let me break my arm patting myself on the back tho ...

Edited to add Im not sure its the scheme totally as its the Browns D is on the field a lot and they have no viable backups for Roye and McKinley so those guys are on the field almost the entire game from the defensive side ...

He's listed as questionable but has practiced. Does he play this week? I have to choose between him and John Henderson.

Roye is questionable with his knee every week and every week he plays ...

I was able to see him play for the first time last weekend. Dude just runs and runs and runs. Gets a lot of his tackles by running down the line and pursuing.

Browns are 29th in time of possession..no crazy schemes going on here other than tons of t/o's and plenty of opportunity for ANY Browns IDP. The only problem with Roye is while he's good for 4-6 solos a game, he rarely ever does anything more; through week 14 he has only 2 sacks with 0 int's and 0 FF's..nothing to get too excited about :coffee:

The stats say otherwise. He's the #2 DT in my league's regular season that is heavily weighted toward sacks. Throw him in with all the d-lineman and he ranks 15th. So I'd say anyone that starts any d-lineman at all would be happy to have him. Throw in the fact that he has been consistent week in and week out. No hot/cold days. Plus, he was a cheap ww pickup for most.Like I said, plenty to be excited about there.

?? He has 2 sacks..heavily weighted.. he is good for about 4 tackles per game..THAT'S IT!! If you get excited about that then maybe some of your fellow league-mates will let you have a stud LB'r like..Foley!!..or C.Thompson!!..or maybe K.Bell!! ....seriously  :toilet:

If you are in a league that ignores tackles then I see your point. Otherwise, you're talkin out your ###.

A big game today puts him on pace for similar numbers.
last years thread resurrected, lolRoye has been very disappointing until last week, he had 12 tackles and 2 assists in the 4 previous games so I wouldnt get too excited just yet. Through week 7 last year he had 32 tackles 8 assists 1 sack and 1 FR. I drafted Roye in a couple of leagues and had dumped him by week 3 (HAFA format) At this point even with the huge week 7 he is ranked 51st among DLs, barely a bye week filler until this game. Looking back at my FA lists he was the 41st ranked Free Agent available in week 5 in a 16 team league where most teams carry at least 3 and more usually 4 DLs.

He's not worth much in DL leagues at this point. In my league, we start DTs, and he has some value there (currently ranked 24th).
