Orton doesn't practice (1 Viewer)

Denver Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton didn't practice again today due to his sprained left ankle.Chris Simms is preparing to start in case Orton is out Sunday gainst the San Diego Chargers.Orton got hurt against the Washington Redskins and didn't come back in the game.“Certainly not going to make any determination based on where he’s at now,” Broncos coach Josh McDaniels told reporters. “But we’d love for him to be out there as soon as he can possibly be out there and we’re hopeful he’s going to play.”As for Broncos star wideout Brandon Marshall, he returned to practice today after being held out Wednesday with a back and neck injury.Safety Josh Barrett (hamstring) also was back on the field.Running back Correll Buckhalter (knee) was downgraded to not practicing after being limited in practice Wednesday.Follow me on Twitter: RavensInsider

assuming Marshall starts, is he worth any value?

this is Chris Simms. He's built like a matchstick, guaranteed to break at any time.

who's the backup behind Simms? this could get ugly if Simms gets knocked out this weekend.

I beleive its rookie Tom Brandstarter.

Oof. Can't afford a stinker from BM this week. Think I'll roll with MSW instead, and hope Jax throws the ball a *little* when MJD gets tired of running over the Bills.

the word out of Broncos pre-season was that Simms (and Brandstater, for that matter) has a better deep ball. Before his terrible game vs WAS, many were openly pining for Simms to take over so the O could be opened up and the Broncos could go down field. Those making that claim are now saying Simms would have done better w/ a week of preparation as the starter - I personally have my doubts.

I don't agree with this take, but one could argue that Simms won't significantly decrease the value of Royal/Marshall, in fact he could increase it by allowing the O to open up. Again, not my take, just presenting a devil's advocate position.

Royal has no value whatsover. Not trying to be a smart a** but he's been worthless this season so I don't see how a QB change could make things any worse. I think the only possibility is it helps him. Not saying it will. In fact, I'd bet against it. But we've seen how unproductive Royal has been with Orton as the starting QB. It's impossible for it to be any worse with Simms.

Marshall is an uber stud at this point. U don't bench him unless you have a MUCH better option, almost irrelevant who is qb, as Simms/Brandstatter would ve forcing him a lot of bals too, so his opps should be up.

If it helps anyone, I can only play three of these four players:

Mendenhall

Beanie Wells

Sims-Walker

Marshall

I'm sitting Marshall. I have Z-E-R-O faith in Simms.
