Outrage Culture (1 Viewer)

Some good observations and perspectives in this thread.

I personally think outrage culture/economy is just another symptom of the decline of western civilization.

Things really ought to change, with more focus on what really truly matters, but we're too mired in media- and consumption-obsessed modalities that seem way too ingrained in the social fabric and it's all exacerbated by the digital age.

One of the more interesting aspects of digital culture/social media is that by enabling a platform for any and every opinion to be expressed, it paradoxically creates sustained bubbles of self-perpetuating viewpoints, closing off open-mindedness of differing points of view.

Unfortunately, one of the side effects of this outrage culture is that it often doesn't matter if you're not actually outraged, or even close to it.  If you express a complaint or any other type of negative reaction towards something - no matter how reasonable the complaint or how measured the language used to express it - someone will take it as outrage.
Who really cares if somebody takes it as outrage?  I hand out free food, somebody will complain about something, so who really cares?

It would take a hell of a lot to take me to...outrage....and if others need that,  I don't care.

We have coddled the weak and their numbers are growing exponentially.

The other day they closed schools because it was too cold. I rolled my eyes and my wife defended it by saying "some people don't have coats or arent prepared for this type of weather". I responded back with GOOD! Not everyone is supposed to survive!

But I'm an insensitive cro magnon so take it for what its worth.
