Owen Daniels (1 Viewer)

PsychoMan

This guy only had 9 receptions all year up to this point, then blew up today. Was it an aberation due to the fact it was against TEN? If so, they play TEN again week 14 - awesome playoff matchup.

Who watched today's game? Carr looked his way a lot? What do people expect from this guy going forward?

He was a top 5 QB coming out of high school, and he ran for 300 and passed for 300 in a 70 to something blowout over my old HS. Daniels is a freak athlete, scoop him while you can...

Not joking...West Aurora v.s Naperville Central 2000..look it up...I'm not sure why the Badgers turned him into a TE, but it appears as though it was the correct move...

It's a fluke for right now but give him some time and it won't be. Sage probably locked onto him as a release. The kid has only been playing Te for about 4 years now. He has top 10 Te talent and should only improve as he gets accustomed to the pro game. There's a reason he was selected in the 4th rnd. Someone to keep an eye on but I wouldn't count on him regularly yet.

He made the switch because it was his best chance of getting on the field.

In a dynasty league, I traded Wiggins for Daniels this past week with the team I played this week. I bet most thought it was a horrible trade for me, and it might be. But, the best part is that I used Daniels against the guy who traded him to me. I feel bad somewhat but it is dumb luck to some extent. TDs aside, I think Daniels' catches and yards were split almost evenly between Carr in the first half and Sage in the second.

I like this guy and had a gut feeling about him when looking at the rookies this offseason. I asked posters here about him and they for the most part said that Putz would be the man and Daniels was a long term project at best. I wish I wouldn't have listened to them.

The guy has skills and has now scored in 4 out of 7 weeks. Pretty impressive for a rookie TE.

Both Carr and Rosenfels looked his way a ton today. I don't know if it's official but he is definately ahead of Breuner in terms of playing time now. He should be a top-15/20 TE with the upside of top-10 for the next couple of years...

Funny you mention he only had 9 catches coming in, but neglect to mention that three of the nine were for touchdowns. He's been a red zone target all season. He seems to have worked himself into more of the offense at this point. A solid play from here on out in my mind.

He was very good with Wisconsin also. I never saw him drop a ball. I thought he might be a little small for the NFL but it seemed like he would catch a touchdown a game while at UW.

In relative terms for NFL TEs this is on the lower end of the size range.General thread note: Daniels has be listed as the starting TE for much if not all the season, but he, Putizer and Bruener have split time pretty evenly. Putizer was out in week 8 with an injury and Daniels stepped up with increased playing time. Honestly, he is the most talented as a pass catcher and his blocking a pleasnt surprise. He looks to be the future at the position in Houston.

Talent aside, one positive for Daniels is that Kubiak seemed to use the TE a lot in Denver. Perhaps that system will carry over in Houston.

I'm starting him this week, due to bye week issues. Could have picked up Jerramy Stevens, but I'm rolling the dice with ... I've already forgotten his name.

the good news for Daniels' owners is that the Giants are not very good at defending the TE. They are in the five worst at defending the TE in my PPR league.

Is Putzier playing? Will he cut into Daniels's targets?
He is not listed on the injury report and I have not seen any significant quotes concerning Jeb's health this week. That said, I believe Daniels has established himself is the number 1 and will get the most snaps and attempts thrown to him.

I thought I read he scored his 2 TDs and much of his yards in garbage time. Any thoughts on that?

What's up with Sage vs Carr?

I think 5 of his 9 catches, including the two TD's came when Sage was in the game. Carr is still the starter, but hopefully he'll start locking on Daniel's like Sage did. I'm excited to have this guy on my fantasy team, and tempted to start him this week over my crappy #3 WR's in hopes that he'll see the endzone again

BTW He sorta scored 3 times. One was reversed and a play later Sage went to him again. No big deal but...

In terms of value, if you have one of the good TEs with history start him over Daniels this week. Daniels had three Tds prior to this week and the Texans TE like 5 TDs so Carr was looking to the position especially at the goalline. Don't go crazy, but he is a decent enough option especially if you have questions.

His week 8 is unusual for any TE, but I suspect that his long term fantasy out look will be as a lower end(9-12) starter, but not a elite type. Considering that he was a WW or a extremely late draft choice even in the deepest of dynasty leagues, be happy with what you have found in Daniels.

FWIW, Daniels had 4 catches for 43 yds at half with Carr under center. Under Sage, Daniels caught all five targets, with two going for TDs and two other of the targets that went for 20+ yards.

I picked up and played Daniels last week because Cooley was on bye. I'm tempted to start him again this week, but with SMoss out I think Cooley gets more targets and has a big game.
