Owner Quits League (1 Viewer)

This week (today) we had an owner quit the league due to a family "emergency." We have a live draft this Sunday for a 20 year old Keeper/Contract IDP Money League. I'm trying hard to find a replacement owner to take over, but if I can't, how should I handle the situation on Sunday?

Should I disband the team and throw the players back in the pool?

Should the league take turns running the team each week?

I'm just looking for some insight as its so close to our draft. Any wisdom from the brilliant minds in the Shark Pool?

Thanks!

Just make it "Team X" until you find a replacement owner. Until then just take the average score each week of all of the other teams in the league and apply that to Team X for that week.

Opposing squad of Team X each week needs to beat the league average of that particular week to get a win.

not a brilliant mind here but I suspect you can round up an experienced player online to pinch-hit until you find a real owner. I would limit what the Pinch-hitter can do to the bare minimum to keep the team alive such as make draft picks, submit lineups, waivers etc. I would limit or prohibit trading ...

Well, first I would reschedule the draft until a new owner is found. Seems like finding the new owner is more important that keeping an early draft date.

My thoughts exactly. Make every effort to find a new owner, but with the Live Draft this Sunday, you are limited. In the mean time, find a pinch hitter to fill in until a permanent replacement can be sought. Post it in the Looking for a League thread (if you have not already done so).GL

:goodposting: Freeze team X's roster. Use some sort of published, acknowledged list of prospects to guide Team X's picks during the draft if you can't get a replacement in time - for example, the FBG's dynasty rankings on the day of your draft. Simply cross off guys as they get picked and take the highest ranked available regardless of position.Let the rest of the league know which published list you are using so there are no questions of impropriety on your part. The average score paradigm for Team X allows you as commish to avoid questions of impropriety regarding the weekly lineups - trust me, don't be responsible for setting Team X's lineup. Don't have other owners do it, either. Someone in the league (those that lose to Team X) will find reasons to whine otherwise. My .02.

Is the owner dropping out because they are missing the draft or will the emergency effect him durning the season? Can the commish acting in good faith (or another league owner) and draft his team for him and then allow him to manage the team durning the season. If he is a good owner or friend in the league, I'd hate to lose someone for a scheduling confict that can't be avoided. Granted, the team he gets for this season may not be the team they wants, but at least they will still be in the league.

each week whoever would have played that team gets a bye. fairest way IMO, closely followed by the avg lg score thing
