Devil's Advocate
Yes, he's a pedestrian WR now -- a shell of his former STUDLY self at this point in his career. He's now a guy who might get you 60-80 yards on a good week, and score a TD maybe once every three weeks. But I think he's in a good situation this week. The Rams are at Arizona, and the Cards figure to light up the scoreboard at home, which means the Rams will likely have to keep up. And now this news:

The Arizona Republic reports Cardinals CB Eric Green (groin - questionable) is unlikely to play Sunday against the Rams. If Green can't go, CB Matt Ware (6-2, 210), the former Philadelphia Eagle, will start. Ware was thrust into a starter's role when Green sustained a groin injury last weekend against Seattle.
Ware is nothing special, and Antrel Rolle should have Torry Holt (who I'm already starting) to worry about all day. Linehan uses two WR sets far more frequently than the 3 and 4-wide looks Mike Martz used, so Bruce is set up nicely in this spot. I don't think that a TD and 90+ yards for Bruce are out of the question tomorrow.Let's discuss who you are considering starting him over. My two starting WRs are Reggie Williams and Holt. Bruce will likely get the nod for me at a flex spot over DeShaun Foster (now in a time share with Williams, even though the Bucs can be had on the ground) and Tatum Bell (New England has a tough front 7, and there is a possible sloppy track in Foxboro.... chance of thunderstorms at night).

I'm not looking to turn this into a ACF thread, nor am I looking for advice. I mainly want to bounce ideas off of other Bruce owners. Do you agree that he's in a good spot this week? Are you having a hard time deciding whether to start him? Who are you considering starting over him?

Fire away....

ETA that Orlando Pace looks like he'll go, so that'll help Bulger and the passing game a ton.

I'm thinking about playing Bruce over J Walker this week.
I'm about 30 minutes from Foxboro. It's a very raw day, and it's supossed to be more of the same tommorow night, with a chance of T-storms as I mentioned. Plus, Jake is struggling a lot. All things being equal, I'd rather have the WR who will be playing in beautiful weather conditions against a far inferior defense.

I'm starting Holt, and trying to decide among Roy Williams, Reggie Williams, and Ike for the remaining two WR spots. I was leaning towards the Williams boys, but this news has me re-thinking things. I like the matchups for all three, but was disappointed in the Rams' O last weekend when I thought they had a good one as well.

Right now i have P.Burruss--M.Harrison--J.Walker starting.....i agree this week would be a good start for Bruce and i will insert him if Burress`s back remains an issue sunday morning.

As I mentioned, I have Holt and Reggie Williams as my starting WRs. Bruce is likely filling the flex spot. I think with Matt Jones hurt, Reggie is in a GREAT place tomorrow. Indy won't be able to run, which means the game is probably going to be a track meet. JAX will have to keep pace, and Williams should benefit nicely.

If it looks like a duck; and walks like a duck; and quacks like a duck, it isSTILL A WDIS..and should be moved
You must have missed the "I'm not looking for advice" part. No matter what anyone says, the decision rests with me. This is an Isaac Bruce discussion thread... nothing more. Hope that explained things, officer.

Threads like this that give analysis in the original post can actually be valuable. You know, as opposed to:"Should I start Bruce over Foster in my flex?" This one at least shows he can think for himself, and tries to back up his opinions. Pretty much ANY thread discussing a player is helping people make lineup/draft/trade decisions about a player. But as long as there is some SUBSTANCE to the post, like this thread, I don't know why you'd whine about it.

I actually like the original post. He's not asking for advice, he's offering something constructive for most Isaac Bruce owners to consider. The thread is titled properly, and the information is useful.

That said, with the information he's given, I'll probably start Bruce over Greg Jennings. Thanks!

This is making my decision to start Reggie Williams over Ike a bit harder. That is a great matchup for Ike and he should get a ton of targets.

Why do you have to start a thread like this? Just put him in your lineup and if he goes off than you point to the shirt. Everytime a thread like this is created the semi-sleeper takes some sleeping pills. I am considering dropping the reverand now. Where is Keerock when I need him.

Do us all a favor and leave the topic if you have a problem. Nice original post. You created food for thought and people responded. Good job, that's what the board is for.

Looking at starting him over L. Coles and T. Williamson with an eye on the late injury info on Coles. Would be starting him with Fitzgerald and Reggie Williams in a 12 team league.

wow similar thinking to me....Bruce is also getting my flex spot nod over the disappointing DeShaun Foster....

I started him as soon as I saw the matchup. Plus Terry Glenn is off.

For the sake of this thread I'll say you talked me into it. If it doesn't work out The members of the Good Reverend Ike Bruce Club will find you.

If it does work out, maybe we'll stay and have some Johnnycakes.

I think Bulger gets it together this week and tosses 3 tds.

Ike > Braylon for me this week, but only b/c Frye will be running for his life vs. BAL.

Bulgar should Pick on Ware --Sun Sep 24, 2006 --from FFMastermind.com

Fox Sports' John Czarnecki reports St. Louis Rams QB Marc Bulger should be picking on Arizona's new RCB Matt Ware today. Ware, a safety, was released by the Eagles on the final cut down day.
