I know they were playing the Lions this week and its only pre season but Manning and this offense is just sick. I pick 8 in a 14 team draft QBs get 6 pts per TD. I am going with him. I usually go with RB's but he is going to have a monster year. Grab a Colt this year it will be a fun ride........And I am a Jet fan just in case you thought I liked the Indy.

Is Indy crazy keeping Manning throwing like that in an X-game? Remember Trent Green had his knee blown out in an X-game.

Manning does not need any extra work.

In a standard scoring league (1 point per 20 yds - 4 points per TD), drafting Manning before a bonafide RB2 or WR1 is fantasy football suicide. I have yet to see a GM win the league by drafting Manning in the first round or early in the second.

If it's a league where they award bonus points for 300 yards and 6 points per TD, then drafting Manning in the late 1st/early 2nd makes sense.

I'll grab a RB1/WR1/RB2 or RB1/WR1/WR2 type combo to then strike at getting a Bulger, Brees, Brady in the 4th round. I may even let things slip and grab Kitna somewhere in the 5th/6th. Let the Manning owner have ulcers on deciding who would be his best RB combo between the likes of Tatum Bell, Lamont Jordan, Jerious Norwood while praying that Lendale White finally breaks out cause he picked him too early.

As much as I argue against taking Peyton in round 1, a part of me admits that just as a fan of the game (football) I wish I had him on some of my teams.

Yes it is a league that awards bonus for 300 and 6 a td but I guess you could look at it a few ways. Yes drafting RB/RB/WR or a combo like that makes sense if you can land a Qb like Bulger or Kitna. But last year look at all the bust rb that were taken in the first round. Caddy, Brown, Edge, Jordan and there were a few more. You just have to have a good to great draft with very little room for error when you draft him in the first round. I won my league last year so I am going to mix it up a little make it more exciting.

How about the folks last year who took Lamont Jordan or a couple of the other early RB's who did nothing. Sometimes its just nice to take Peyton Manning in the middle of round 1 when you are unsure about the RB's and go to bed knowing that you are going to have a good amount of 3 td/290 yard performances, while the "value QB's" have 2 bad weeks, 1 good week...another bad week..another good week.. etc. What is more frustrating than starting the wrong QB when trying to do QBBC? I think people underestimate Manning's value from pick 6-10 in round 1. Seems like the Manning owner is always in the playoff mix in my leagues. (4 and 6 pt TD leagues).

Even though Manning did well, Tony Ugoh was getting beat a lot and Peyton was taking more hits than normal. When Kalimba Edwards (he of three sacks last year) is getting consistent pressure that doesn't bode well.

Peyton is a legitimate first round consideration in many leagues. I would bump him higher for each element listed below:

1. 6 pt TDs and/or distance bonus on TDs

2. Leagues that tend to draft QBs earlier than the FBG ADP

3. Leagues that are not RB hungry (all teams aren't drafting 3 RBs by the 5th round)

To me, it's all about the "luxury tax" you pay for drafting Peyton in the first round. You are taking a hit at another position and/or costing yourself depth at the RB and/or WR positions.

Above all else, you need to have a plan that addresses the shortcoming you may have at other positions. I would not even consider drafting Manning in the first round unless I had found comfortable later-range RB2s and WR3s.

My style has been typically to load up elsewhere and be among the last to draft a QB in my leagues; however, you can lose just as easily due to weak QB play (or bad QBBC choices) as you can at any other position. Last year, I was set up in two different leagues but had horrendous QB play hold me back. I'm not going to forget all the past successes I've had when using the same approach, but I'd be an idiot not to recognize that it is possible to take the "wait on QB" approach too far. I know I'm going beyond the Manning angle at this point, but it's all part of the drafting QB continuum.

If Manning played a real secondary, he would not have had these numbers. The Colts line is obviously worse than past years...but the Colts got away with things tonight against the Lions lousy secondary that they won't get away with against a legit NFL secondary.

So the real insight from this game is to upgrade all elements of the Lion passing game as they figure to be playing in a lot of shootouts. And hope Kitna can somehow stay healthy in the process.

Just bumped Manning/Harrison/Wayne down 6-7 slots.

In my 12 man re-draft league, the person who took Manning the last 3 years has won the championship. Of course the whole thing isn't due to Manning, but he has alot to do with that.
