A contact of mine in the Packer organization has confirmed the rumors that Brett Favre is considering leaving the squad. Quoting him directly:

"Well, it's definitely in the air. Mike wouldn't start Aaron ahead of him, but Brett doesn't even like him being there, and doesn't like the way things look. They (not sure if he was referring just to Mike and Brett here, or upper management, and forgot to ask him to clarify) were talking for two hours today and Brett left angry. I think he'll get over it, but everyone is walking on eggshells here."

I'm going to leave this one open, at least until it turns into a :tfp: , since the quote was made personally to the original poster.

Now this is some smoke and smoke can lead to a fire. Props for unlocking this thread, because this is a HUGE issue if true.

Brett won't help anyone's fantasy team (or even the Pack) at this point, but it's still great information and tidbits from insiders is always appreciated. I think Brett is too much of a gamer to hang 'em up until the end of the season, though stranger things have happened.

Who doesn't Favre supposedly like in GB? MM or AR? Are you implying he doesn't like having a backup? Maybe that's why they trade, Brunell, Brooks, Hasselbeck and let Warner go.....

My friend was referring to him not liking the current situation with Aaron being there. Then again, that's my friend talking, not Brett, and my friend was not in the meeting that happened today. So take that for what it's worth. Lots of people in my workplace may have opinions regarding my mindset that are inaccurate, and that could certainly be the case. What's clear, without equivocation, is that tensions are high in Green Bay.

I don't think relaying something somebody in the Packer organization said is pissing. In any case, my advice would be for anyone whose blood pressure is raised by the Favre threads to just stay out of them.

You're telling me that out of 10,000 people that not one of them would have a contact in a teams organization. Not saying I believe every schmuck that says they do but some actually do like Da Guru with the Lions.

Please no more non-football-related meta-discussion. I've deleted around 20 posts in this thread already. I'm going to start giving suspensions soon because football is on and I don't want to deal with it.

Football discussion only.

Just lock it.. It's a rumor and this thread, like all the rest is  till we get definite word from, as Packer fans will say, GOD aka Favre himself. :football:

You guys definitely delete posts too much. The only posts that should be deleted are Aaron Brooks will be top QB and your mom jokes. thats it.

I won't readily discount this. Bongo claims he has connections with the Titans, and there is a fan on one of the Jets msg boards that definetly has someone in the organization.

It's possible. That being said, what's this whole "walking on eggshells" bit? Favre was a great QB, but he is old and his days with the team are numbered. If he has a problem with Aaron Rodgers, he needs to get over it and help the kid improve as a QB. Tutor him.

Who is this "contact" and where can we get any kind of confirmation about this "rumor"? Unless either are presented in the initial post there is no substance here and thus cause for deletion, no?

If you would like to delete my post, feel free. I'm happy to make calls when things are in the air and report what I hear, as I've enjoyed this site's resources and enjoyed playing the Falguy game last year. That said, if you think I'm going to out my friends, you're crazy.

Thanks for the info. Not sure why everyone is acting like a ########.

Agreed. Thanks Alonso de Cordoba. This is the kind of stuff reporters go looking for. We got it for free.

Props to you if it becomes true.

Do you really believe anyone around here has contacts in ANY NFL organization??????
don't NFL people have friends? :(
Addressing Mr. Pack here...I've worked out with one active NFL player, handle investments for another active NFL player, and have a relative who's college roomate is in a NFL organization. Yes, I believe that rabid football fans sometimes know people involved in football.

Props to Alonso - I would think that the part about Packertown walking on eggsheels has to be true. A this point anything that Favre does would not surpirse me - the way he handled the retirement issue in the off-season was a bit odd and seemingly out of character for him. He is an athlete at the twilight of his career who still wants to be a part of a winning team - I don't find any of Alonso's reports to be that hard to beleive.

ughbongo.....is...on....this...board...too?

Just wanted to say thanks for the info. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if Favre was gone tomorrow or if he was starting through Week 17. Favre looks terrible though, but he's in one of those situations where they won't bench him no matter what.

As for posting "inside info" you're going to get ripped here and on almost every board by people who are just jerks, jealous, think they are fantasy gods and its cool to rip others, or all of the above. i used to have a great contact in the Pats org and I stopped even posting info on another board cause it wasn't worth the effort dealing with jerks on the board.

I may be the only one left that thinks Favre will still have a good year. He played the #1 D in the league yesterday, and now has a slate loaded with cupcake D's. His options of Driver, Jennings and Ferguson are solid and he has a healthy RB corps, and his D sucks which means many shootouts. He is still gunning for the TD record, and I think he'll get it this year. IMO this is the only reason he came back, and to retire at this point without giving it a shot is out of the question. Favre knows who he played yesterday, and he knows about his soft schedule coming up as well. Take it to the bank - 25 TD's and the record for Mr. Favre this year.

Whoopie, more Favre drama :pickle: I can't get to sleep at night unless I've heard at least one Favre is going to reitre rumor.

that Favre might have met with McCarthy, et al. doesn't surprise me.

he's an emotional guy. as much as people pile on him for some unfounded, perceived, selfishness.. he's as far removed from that as one can get.. by all accounts.

i wouldn't be surprised to hear that he went to the coaches and said "hey, given the way we looked yesterday.. if i can't play better than that.. maybe i should just move on / retire."

he runs on emotion. watch him play. he's probably had that same conversation a dozen times in his career...

friend of mine's Brother-in-Law worked for the Packers up until this year (new regime) he would pass along a LOT of information to my buddy... some true, some turned out to be speculation, some never came to pass.

it's no different than any other job in any other profession. there's lots of gossip and he said / she said flying around. some people THINK they know what happened and some actually do.. as ADC said his guy wasn't involved in the conversation so... who knows what was REALLY said, what the tone of the conversation was or how blown out of proportion it might be.

i see a guy who doesn't want to be a drag on the organization.. and being that he runs hot he's going to be honest. he has ALWAYS been honest. it's the way he's wired. he's not hanging on for a paycheck, or to break records, or because his ego won't let him quit. he came back because he felt like he could help the team.... odds are he's feeling pretty sour after being embarrassed yesterday.

enough with all this "he's been finished for 3 years".. watch the game, don't just listen to the radio/read the paper/the Shark Pool. stay informed and stop participating in rumor mongering.

lol @ another "I know somebody who has the 'inside scoop' on whoever and blah blah...."

That's nothing against Alfsonso here personally, but in general, anyone paying even mild attention to an "insider info" post on an FF board is exceedingly naive. Cmon people.

jeebus.

FAVRE STARTED THE GAME SEVEN FOR SEVEN PEOPLE!

Jennings was terrible yesterday, Fergie had a couple drops, the Tight Ends were non-existent.. they barely threw to the backs at all.

he had Donald Driver and nobody else. that's the same way it was last year.. what do you guys want him to do? if they ran checkdowns, swing passes and hooks to the tight end ad nauseum he'd be at around 65%, 180 yds a game and everyone would say he sucks.

he was FINE all game until the game was out of hand.. by my account he threw one bad pass. the across the body, down the middle, throwaway.. it's not like the game was 23-21, in the 2-minute offense and he just gave the game away.

the guy is trying to win every game. you're not going to win against the Tampa 2 by throwing 5 yard passes in front of the LB's and DB's when you're down 26.

jeebus

Ahman Green was the 2nd leading receiver with THREE CATCHES. they didn't have the ball much in the 1st half and by the 2nd half the game was over.

Favre was 6-6 at the half. it was 16-0 at the half and the Packers hadn't been able to either move the ball or stop the Bears from moving the ball.

so he had no choice but to open it up and start passing.. once he started flinging it, his guys started dropping it. i'm not saying every pass was a drop but Favre was fine yesterday.
